- Originally aired in 1997, here is a promo for the WXYZ Storm Team 7. WXYZ is the ABC affiliate in Detroit, Michigan
This promo details a partnership between WXYZ and WJR-AM radio with the Doppler 7000 weather radar.
Jerry Hodak, now retired, was a weather legend in Detroit. He had a knack for getting the forecast right and doing it in a way that it didn't scare you. Also featured in the promo were Chad Myers (later at CNN and the infamous "Let me talk!" clip during Katrina) and Chris Bradley (now at WBNS in Columbus, Ohio)
R.I.P Chris Bradley.
I knew I remember seeing Chris Bradley somewhere on tv when I was in Detroit. He's on 10Tv in Columbus Ohio now.
WXYZ now exclusively uses VIPIR. They also have Titan but they use that primarily as a national regional radar display system. Doppler 7000 would sweep very slow.
Chaaaad, what does that meeeean?
Is that Charlie Van Dyke doing the Voiceover in this promo?
Sadly, I just learned today that Chris Bradley died of cancer in December 2018. :(
