I believe they can. I'm going to take the shafts apart and make a video on it. Hopefully I'll get time to get the heads off this weekend, then I'll know the rest of the story.
@@theotrmechanic3624 64 year old cars have lots of STORIES, this is just another one to add to its ledger! About 7 years ago the transmission on the caddy went from being a leaker, to a gusher. Had to find a transmission shop that could rebuild it, though it had still been performing just fine. Hydramatic Jetaway, dual coupling, 4 speed, maybe the same one in that olds. Kanter again had a complete kit for it. Called many shops, but they wouldn't touch it, said they would have no clue how to do it. Finally i found a place in San Bernardino that said they could do it, and had a very old fellow who knew exactly how to do it, that they used from time as a consultant to help them with very old cars. They did a great job, came in just under 2 grand parts and labor. Shifts just like always and no leaks! Hopefully, I won't have to touch either the engine or transmission again in my lifetime. FINGERS, TOES, AND EYES CROSSED! LOL.
Wish to see more of your fine ride shortly. My uncle had a '58 sedan roughly the same color(Super model). Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much
6:44.. something tells me you'll grab a cold one regardless (!) Wise advice.
Yes! That's great. Just got to hope rust is minimal in that cylinder. Can the rockers be unrusted in a solution of some kind?

11:03 We managed to get the motor free.
Curious how the engine became rusted up.. good luck with your 371 ! Four barrel is a good perk.
I'm really not sure. It was in a garage. Never outside. I haven't seen one that bad without being rained in.
Careful with them pushrods!
