Job well done. an otherwise complicated cake explained with simple and very clear instructions. Everywhere else is a little complicated than it should be. I am new to this channel and i am glad i found it.
I'm just amazed at how all your cakes look like artwork!!! I love how you explain everything so clearly too - thanks for your cool videos ❤️ don't know if I have the skills to try this but one day I might try...
Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️ I'm so glad to hear that you're finding the videos easy to understand. And haha I'm sure you'd be able to do it! You never know, you might just surprise yourself! :)
Maryam, this is beautiful! I'd love to know, in your opinion, how it tastes. It looks so impressive. I just found and subbed to your channel today and I'm bingeing!
Thanks so much for subbing Lisa! Glad to hear you're enjoying the videos :). And the inside of the cake tastes great, however the jelly is basically a firm plain jelly (you can flavour it if you like), so unless you're a jelly lover, the outside will probably just taste like nothing 😅
When you were cutting the cakes, I was having hypertension like Noooooooooooooooo don't cut the cake, its looking to delicious already. Don't cut it. But then u finished it and I was like that's breathtaking but where's the remaining cakes let me eat. Love ur work sis.
Thank you for sending me the link. I think it is one of the coolest cakes I've ever seen. It actually looks like the color of the ocean and the mountains ⛰are so realistic. I've never tasted unflavored gelatin before what would you suggest as far as flavoring? Also could you take the remaining scraps of cake not used for the mountains and fill in the empty spaces of cake so no one gets mostly gelatin in their slice 😜? Thank you for sharing and keep on caking 💜
You're welcome Lorraine! :D And good question re flavouring! I think anything that matches the flavour profile of the cake you're using :D and haha you could totally use the scraps for that! Great idea haha :D
😮😮😮😮 I just saw modelers made this kind of diorama. And then seeing this is just unreal! I guess the diorama making hobby can be done by people from different roots and background then 😅
Hi there! Agar agar can be used as a substitute for gelatin, though I'm not sure of the exact quantity you'll need as I've never tried it with this recipe before sorry! Agar agar is stronger than gelatin so you will need less agar agar, but it will be best to search for the correct amount to substitute for the quantity in this recipe. Hope this helps, and thank you for your lovely comment about the cakes :)
Thank you! The cake on the inside tastes delicious, the jelly on the outside is just a firm jelly - so if you like jelly you'll like the taste of it :)
@@CakesbyMK Oh. I didn't know gelatin could be halal. Well, I live in England so I will have to check if we have some too and then I will definitely try to make this beautiful cake!!
Thanks Joanne! :) I'm not so sure whether it would work with packet jelly, as packet jelly isn't very firm, and you need the jelly to be quite firm to hold it's shape. I'd recommend making the Jelly yourself, or adding more gelatine or agar agar to the packet jelly. Hope that helps! :)
Thank you! I ordered mine from an online cake shop here in New Zealand. It can be quite hard to find, but cake shops should sell them, and you should be able to find it on Amazon too :)
Hi there! Did you try this exact recipe? This cake was actually quite tall (about 4.5-5 inches high - excluding the mountains), but it was small (so the outer cake ring was 7 inches and the actual cake was 6 inches). Were you using a larger cake ring/larger cake? :)
Cakes by MK yes I believe it’s 9in ring but my bottom layers were 2 8inch and 1 6inch so I was figuring about the same but I was waaaay off lol I’ll be sure to find a 7 inch ring for next time
@@jeannieflores786 ahh I see! You could still do it with the sizes you have, but like you said would just have to increase the amount of jelly :). How did your first try come out??
Hi there! I didn't find it too sweet as I used dark chocolate, and the cake was not too sweet either so it worked well :). Hope this helps :)
Hi Nuska! I didn't keep mine refrigerated, but it is very cold here in NZ at the moment! The jelly is quite firm so I don't imagine it melting very easily, however just to be safe you can refrigerate it, or add more gelatin to make the jelly firmer. Hope this helps! :)
Oh I tried this before but with konyaku jelly. All the chocolate ganache melted into the jelly and it looked so bad 😭😭 I ended up making a no bake cheese cake and poured jelly on top .. that one didn't melt and mix into the jelly. I tried putting fondant mermaid tails too.. and they too melted 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Ohhh noo sorry to hear it didn't work out so well for you! If it makes you feel any better, I have had many fails too! :) I think the key thing with this cake is making sure you have enough gelatin in the jelly so it holds it's shape :)
Hi there! I haven't tried this recipe myself with agar agar so am not sure of the exact quantity required sorry, but agar agar is stronger than gelatine so you will need less of it :)
Hi there! Yes absolutely - just make sure the quantities are converted correctly to achieve the same stiffness in the jelly (e.g. agar agar is stronger than gelatine, so you will need less of it). Hope that helps! :)
Hi Mahek! Good question. You should be able to touch the jelly on the top and it should be quite firm. I'd suggest letting it set in the fridge for a few hours :). If it doesn't become firm, then you may not have used enough gelatin in your jelly. Hope that helps!
The cake inside is delicious, the jelly is a plain hard jelly, so it kind of just tastes like nothing (unless you decide to flavour it), but it's more for the look :)

Wow! so cool! I just discovered you and I'm so glad I did! How did you find halal gelatin??
Thanks Areebah! :) We have halal gelatine here in our supermarkets in New Zealand :)

Thank you Sayeda! :)
i habe a question? what gelatin did you use, because id like to use the sam one (if it is halal).
Yes sure! I use a Davis Powdered Gelatine which is certified Halal here in NZ :)
Can we use jello/jelly powder instead of the whole gelatin?
Hmm you could, except you may need to add more gelatine to it as jelly powder isn't as sturdy so may not hold up well once the mould is removed :)
@@CakesbyMK That's what i thought. Thank you for confirming.
AOA MK Can I use milk to moist this cake?

How tall are the cakes? cause I tried this and had to make more than double the batch of gelatin to cover up to my islands.

Hi Siri! Thank you :). Yes is it such a fun cake to make! Your one looks amazing too :)
Is this cake very sweet with so much choc? Can we replace gelatin with agar agar?
