As a byu fan, I’ve been listening to a lot of different takes from different media sources and some have speculated that if BYU goes 12-0 and loses in the BIG12 championship game they may not make the playoffs. This would be a terrible way to end the season but I would not be surprised

Adam said it best though, BYU controls its own destiny, so if a No. 9 ranking helps drive BYU to stay hungry then I will take it. Regardless of the ranking, I want BYU to just keep winning.
Yeah, if BYU wins out, it's a moot point. Except it will impact who BYU would play in the playoff, but there's no sense in worrying about that (at least not yet). It is a bummer for the conference though that apparently has no shot at getting a second bid and could potentially miss out on a first round bye.
BYU should ranked 2nd or 3rd seed over Miami and 1 loss SEC team. The only upside is that there are 5 weeks of play to go before final rankings. Perhaps the committee can pull their heads out by then.
Growing up in Utah, my mom had 4 brothers: 1 each attending BYU, Utah, Utah State, and Weber State. None of us hated each other, but it was passionate. We all need to retain the passion without it devolving into hatred.
BYU underrated for sure. Same goes for WSU who has no business being behind CU or ISU, the latter of which has the same record, comparable SOS, and took their loss to a team WSU beat by 3 TDs.
@ since 1984 they have rigged the system agains mid market teams, specifically BYU. I’m not delusional enough to think 40 years and a 12 team playoff has changed that.
It’s all about money, the SEC conference, the Big ten conference and brand name programs like Notre Dame and Miami . The committee will always justify getting the teams they want to get in the playoff . BYU’s resume is one of the best in the country and I knew there would be bias but I still thought the committee would rank BYU 7th in the first playoff ranking . The excuses they have for trans with no ranked wins or losses that are ranked ahead of BYU is absolutely wild and wrong .

Indiana is undefeated but hasn't played anybody (fact). When conferences are so big, you can't just say a team is better by virtue of being in that conference. BYU has better wins than everyone ahead of them and no losses (facts). That's what should count. Not some perception of who you think could be better because of brand.
Where do you think BYU should be ranked by the Playoff Committee?
2nd or 3rd seed.
@@stevencraven4897 You would think so based on what they've actually done. Just keep on winning is all they can do. That and run up the score.

I'm starting to think that's the case, which would be a shame and miss the point of what college football should be all about.

Doubtful. Kalani needs to start going for the jugular and win big.

The committee was supposed to account for all of this, but instead it's more of the same.
With the CFP rankings, You aren’t taking the eye test into account. They use their eyes to look at the logo and rank them accordingly.
Yeah, it's pretty transparent at this point. They're not even trying to hide it.

@ Indiana would beat BYU by 2 touchdowns!
Not sure what that's based on. But BYU has destroyed the spread all season long, so bring it.
