    Again, another detailed analysis from Kris. Kudos to you my friend. Now could you somehow make all these bikes available in US.

      Thanks, and I wish I could! Although the more competitive price on some of the bikes you get and a lot of the accessories and mods makes us jealous down here too!

    Hello. how is the driving experience with pillion? Is the engine power enough to run on highway with pillion? thanks.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Рік тому +1

      Generally I would say so, for really steep inclines, you'll lose a bit of speed if you can't carry enough momentum up the hill, which is probably rare on most highways.

    Nice one Kris. Thank you. I have never actually ridden any scooters let alone one with 3 wheels however after watching this I think I’ll try and organise a test ride. What’s the acceleration and braking like? Any two wheeled bike that you would suggest it’s on par with? Are they fine with freeway cruising and have enough power for overtaking? Average range per tank?

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  3 роки тому +3

      I thought acceleration was good, it actually has a fair bit of go in it, enough that I had to check my speed fairly frequently. Easy to look down in a suburban environment and realise you're doing 80 instead of 60. Plenty for legal cruising on the freeway too, for all but the steepest of steep inclines where I could be WoT and it couldn't accel at 110, but overtakes were no issue normally. I think 350 a tank is achievable, but I'd be filling at 300 with plenty to spare and that's riding fairly enthusiastically and leaving every light with a handful, so better is probably possible.
      On the brakes you do feel the extra weight and you really feel that momentum you carry. There's some good power there, you just have to be mindful you're pulling up a lot more bike. A bit like with a cruiser I guess I'd say, at the strong end of the cruiser segment on brakes.
      Hard to make a comparison with a motorcycle to be honest, it's a heavier, more stable XMax 300, which to me is the do-everything scooter. Fast enough for any road conditions, good two up, comfortable, convenient. There's my more in depth review here: ua-cam.com/video/fwnwgloCm-c/v-deo.html
      I'd forgotten I had this video ready to go, so it got delayed quite a bit!

      Awesome mate! I appreciate the time taken with your detailed response. Hopefully it also helps others who watch/read this. On another note, when did they start fitting brakes to cruises? Ones that actually work anyway... 😜

    The hold function can be set to activated whenever the bike comes to a stop ?

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  3 місяці тому +2

      I was just manually activating it but only for parking. I'm not sure if it can be automated for all stops (like lights, stop signs etc) as it essentially locks the steering when activated, and takes a short moment to release.

      I would think you'd be ok, it's easy to get a foot down at the front of the seat and it should be reasonable roomy with feet up and towards the back of the seat when you're just cruising.

  • @joelgerber3083
    @joelgerber3083 2 роки тому

    Besides the feature of keeping it upright when stopped, don't know how much it would keep it from going over when riding or cornering,

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  2 роки тому

      It wouldn't be impossible to drop, but I think you'd have to be doing something pretty wrong to achieve it. Two contact patches offers a pretty significant advantage. The steering lock for staying upright is stopped only, as preventing the bike from leaning makes properly steering impossible.

    I've been riding m/cycles and Scooters for over 30 years, but these 3 wheelers are just as fun more practical I.e commuting in all weathers, and much safer to ride. I've got a piaggio mp3 300, it's so rapid it embarrasses sports bikes!
    I'm even looking at the 4 wheel version (qooder quattro).

    • @MotoJournoKris

    Hi, nice review. I am 200cm tall and 125kg, do you think that the Tricity 300 is ok for taller and heavier guys? Is there enough space and power to pull me uphill :) ?

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Рік тому +1

      I'd definitely go sit on one in person to check out the fit and feel, there's room to move back on the seat which helps, but it's not as roomy as some scooters. I think you'll be ok unless it's an exceptionally steep hill at high speeds. It was only really on pretty extreme long inclines with 150 kg+ on the scooter that we saw the acceleration drop off.

    • @kleomenispapanikolaou6029
      @kleomenispapanikolaou6029 Рік тому +1

      I am 2,05 meters tall (36"inseam), 115 kilos. I don't own the scooter nor did I test ridden it yet.
      I sat on it at a dealer and found that on full turn of the wheel, which I admit happens rare, it will lock my leg on the footrest. So when I ever do that, I have to abduct that knee to be able to step down freely if necessary.
      On the other hand, I wrote on a couple of forums with Tricity 300 owners in Europe and many people your height own it happily.
      I am tempted to buy it and to get used to it's ergonomics. People adjust to things.
      But with this one, even though it can reach 125kph, I don't think that cruising over 100 kph is comfortable. So, our weight won't be much of an issue. For a city commuting scooter it's a safe option. Apart from that, time will tell. Better to test ride it, if possible.

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  Рік тому

      @@kleomenispapanikolaou6029 Yep full lock should be relatively rare with both feet up generally, but it is something to watch out for!

    • @MotoJournoKris
      @MotoJournoKris  3 роки тому +3

      I mean being a scooter and with the front wheel locking system I'd say it's about as forgiving as you can get. Plus you can move around on the front of the seat, and shift across to make it easier to get a foot down, so it might be more manageable than you'd expect. Hard to tell without actually having a sit on one though.

      @MotoJournoKris  2 роки тому

      I haven't tested the Metropolis, but the extra 10 or so horsepower and torque would be welcome, especially if you're riding two-up frequently. The Tricity looks to have a bit of an advantage on weight and with the brake loadout in comparison.

      Yamaha's mid-capacity three-wheeled scooter. Kinda like a scooter version of the Niken.

    • @jonpram1737
      @jonpram1737 3 роки тому

      It’s an xmax for people who have convinced themselves the biggest risk of motorcycling is dropping the bike.
      I’m joking there are advantages like improved braking and it supports its own weight - shorter riders often report struggling with the weight of the xmax... though of course this is heavier again. But yeah, real pros and cons aside the reason most people buy three wheelers is the fear of dropping them. Personally I think they’re massively over inflating a minor risk and kinda not seeing the wood for the trees, but if it makes them feel safer and gets more people riding I won’t judge... too much lol
      If you’re in Melbourne they used to have a test bike at Yamaha. Thry’d tell you it’s handling was ‘very responsive for a three wheeler’ having ridden it it didn’t motivate me to try any worse handling 3 wheelers.

      @@jonpram1737 In many (most?) countries, these can be driven on a regular car driver's licence, which is a huge benefit as well. As a commute vehicle they make sense due to the fact that they don't require congestion charges, you can actually pass cars stuck in congestion during rush hours and they are less thirsty than a car. I've tried a Piaggio MP3 500 and it feels very similar to a regular motorcycle but more "stable" so for anyone wanting to transition from a car, this is a great start.
