- The Steely Dan bass cover project goes on with a stone cold classic Chuck Rainey bass line: Peg.
Man, this was a tough one. Like Jeff Porcaro's famous Rosanna drum groove, this bass part is super busy and loaded with little details and ghost notes throughout, which can totally throw off your groove and get in the way of the important stuff.
And Rainey's famously sneaky back-to-the-glass slap part in the chorus is a masterpiece. I did my best.
Recorded in my home studio in Fredrikstad, Norway using my trusty 1974 Precision, going through an Avalon VT 737sp prepamp into my UA Apollo Twin X.

I love Chuck's story of playing on the Sanford and Son theme and messing the end up. It added a little of the comedy flavor of the show to the theme, so they left it in!
