I agree. Flames can be done right and look good on the right car. However the Lincoln is definitely not the car for that. Do a solid color. Black or even a deep metallic blue.
@@bustinyanutz4195 A Coyote crate motor cost significantly more money than a Godzilla crate motor. And you can't get that pushrod sound from a Coyote. And parts wise it is going to be cheaper to build out a Godzilla over a Coyote motor. Basically cam, intake , Headers and a tune, you can get almost 800 hp out of a Godzilla. throw on a 3.0 whipple your easily over 1000 hp. Like the old saying there's no replacement for displacement.
I'd be a downright shame to do that to this car! If you want to do that - get some other car that can actually handle it. This won't, not without destroying one of the last in existence!
Restore the engine bay with a coyote swap, undercarriage with a 10 speed automatic then update the suspension. As for the tires & wheels up to you personally 18” wheels.
The 62 Continental is a timeless classic & being a convertible it's even more rare!!! I'd keep it original & enjoy driving it!!! Whatever you guys do, it will be fun to follow along!!! I agree that the factory wheels & hub caps look better!!! 👍👍🙂
But that's not what they do on this channel they don't restore cars they add their own flair 2 it and these cars go for great money with modern drive train and suspension and very little body work
I'm with pops for the motor and brads idea for a two tone look seems cool. Also this y'all over thinking it, wheels, fresh paint, and fresh stock interior should have that baby looking sweet.
Your Dad cracks me up, it need a Coyote swap, supercharger, 10 speed automatic, tubbed in the rear with some pro street meats tucked under the fenders, large tear drop hood scoop....letsss...goooooo....
Classic looks with some power. Even two-tone would be alright (depending on the colors.) But please have mercy on that cool old car and no rusty flames, or giant wheels.
I could also really see the two tone look amazing, personally I’m drooling over the idea of a dark ruby red kinda on top then a nice shifty grey/silver on the sides.
Please keep it original!!!!! Simple paint job with pin stripes sounds awesome!!! The banter between you and your dad was great. Thanks for having that part of this video.
Body and paint all stock with a lot of clear. Air ride suspension. Coyote w/10 speed. You have plenty of performance builds. Keep this one a cruiser. My dad had a 66' when I was a kid. I loved that car.
The 2JZ joke was funny. I agree with your dad though that a 2JZ doesn't belong anywhere near that car. Low profile super charged LT4 is my vote. I don't like the idea of a big blower or too much chop. More like reliable restomod that would still be fun but would not be any kind of race car. With the hood down, you wouldn't be able to tell it wasn't original. It'd be a fun cruiser.
I think you should rebuild the engine, add a few performance parts to it and collaborate with Holley and add EFI. The other option is a coyote engine. The outside, you can keep it with a patina or just get it vinyl wrapped. That’s if you want to keep it into a budget build.
Brad and Dad I think that Dad was on the right path with the design for the Lincoln but not sure on the flames? maybe incorporate them in some where, they could work when done the right way. If your not going to go with orriginal, then go wild, the car already has style you just need to PIMP IT UP! a haul ass engine, freshin up the roof N interrior a set of nice rims N tires, paint job with some flash and some air ride suspension for a little ride N glide. What ever that you guys do decide to do I know it will be an incredible build and I know that I will enjoy watching the process. Take care, stay safe and God bless👍😇
Brad, omg I was just dying on this episode and the way you looked and so thinking about the comment “can of acid” that your complete attention to your Dad was forever GONE 😂. And the. The flame 🔥 comment. Just hilarious. You guys are the best. Anyways, I can’t remember what show it was and who was in it but a actor built a I think some type of Mopar for his Brother In Law and built it on a electric platform. It was green with a carbon hood and looked so good. I think you guys should go this route. Have you seen the car that I’m trying my best to describe?
matte black wrap, blackout the chrome, air suspension, glass black wheels to continue the theme, & a simple black leather interior, black top, & a sick music system
Get a hold of Chip Foose and have him sketch up some pictures for you with your ideas. Coyote or a Godzilla swap. I think the current engine is fried. My dad had a car like this. We went on vacation with it up to San Francisco. Sadly the car fell apart coming back. It never made it home. We traded it in.
2 tone with a big motor. NO FLAMES OR RAT ROD. Getting it scanned is a great idea you can go wild with your ideas and see what it would look like before even touching the car.
No flames. Keep the chrome. Maybe air ride. Nice wheels and tires and nice paint. If you customize it make it so it can be put back to original fairly easy. You don't find those cars like you can a nova, camaro and such. To rare and irreplaceable.
I am all for LS builds but not in that car. Either rebuild the stock engine or do a Ford swap. Coyote or Godzilla swap. No bowtie in that awesome car. 😎
From what I have seen before about the operation of the top on these cars. There is only one guy left that knows how they work inside and out, how to adjust and how to repair them properly to work as they should. He travels with a backpack of tools and some hard to find parts to site to do work.
I’m building a 62 caddy now. LS3 swap it ,leave the body alone, make everything underneath brand new, make it look stock with white walls and make it modern classic. If anything, just clearcoat the paint and seal the patina
I really injoy this channel you guy build really awesome vehicles. The continental look great. Just imagine it with a coyote in it. Thanks for making amazing content!!!
@DeBerti what's up dude keep it original. Ls motor. I know you'll come up wroth something cool man I watched y'all since y'all's build series on TV. I still dream of the truck the bed was a toolbox. If love to meet y'all before I pass away my health is rapidly failing. Keep the videos coming
I like his dad wild brain storming ideas. I wouldn't pick flames but I can tell he's just throwing ideas out there to see if anything catches interest. But using something with the original paint or rust look keeps it as the not so off the walk build.
Nice rims that suit the car, bare steel body with clear coat, re-do the top, repair/replace the interior with original style finish, coyote engine with air, and a modern air ride suspension. Make it a nice cruiser.
No crazy stuff except under the hood maybe. Restore it like the one in Entourage. Slicked out black paint, sick wheels and fresh black leather interior.
Keep the original body lines. Install a coyote motor, simple clean interior and maybe one of those cool wraps or flat paint job you guys do. Make it a car that you can show but also one you can cruise on a Saturday night….
Put it low to the ground and black out all the chrome. Paint the car a satin black. The wider body would look great. Can't wait to see what you do with it. Thanks for the video stay safe.
It should have the FE 430 engine. Later was bored to a 462 starting in 1966 i believe. I personally have a 1968 and a half when the 460 was introduced. I have just installed the engine again which is now a 521 stroker 500 hp and 600 lbs tork. Bought it in 2005 for $500 and now is probably worth around $50,000 with all the work i did. They are nice cars but there is a ton of old school tech in them that will have you learn and maybe wish you started an easier project. I have tons of parts for these cars and am pretty knowledgeable if you have questions! Enjoy!
Brad I would love to see a 2JZ motor, on a lawn mower, now that would be a cool build for the future maybe? but I couldn't see one in that car, litterally! you would have a lot of space left to fill up under that hood. 😇👍
Ok hear me out, ill try to keep it short. Keep the paint as it is and do what Zach from ultimate rebuilds when he painted his vw beetle and added this product that made the car look rusted over new paint then he cleared it and sealed all the "rust" under the clear. It looked awesome to me. That way yall can have it both yalls way
I would do an LS swap. Frame off restoration. Dark blue paint with lighter blue scallops and a black convertible top. Black chrome all the trim. Something like that.
Flames are so flamed out😂. The way to go on that is rebuilt the engine. Sand blast it and painted white with that black soft top, keeping with the black out chrome... Keep the tires stock to keep the ride smooth as intended.
You guys should make it like that rat rod style where the exterior is old and original but interior is painted and new and engine bay painted and new as well.
If the car needs a lot of work or a repaint. Widebody update to cool retro stuff ... If paint stays and body needs no work. Then refresh paint and the actual mechanics of it.
I agree to no flames, I do think two tone would look great, black and red or black and blue. And I also agree with no LS, if you're going to swap it to something put a coyote. Or for the cheaper budget idea get an engine out of a newer Lincoln and swap it out....
I mean my MK7 GTI with upgrade turbos stage 2 kit fully done exhaust with cat delete and larger down pipe is making 408 WHP. It is a freaking rocket. So stick something like that in it. 😂 My end goal is a lot more mods and engine work to obtain 650- 700 hp . We shall see. ❤ Either way, once yall decide what to do, it will be sick. Honestly, I would go with a big LS . There is so much you can do with them. And it will handle that big heavy car. Dont forget to tackle suspension and take out that body roll. I can't wait to see what yall decide to do.
Ls motor probably cheapest with most prevalent aftermarket and parts available. But godzilla up and coming and loads of torque across powerband. May be better for that heavy girl.
I’d rebuild the driveline back to stock, strip it and repaint it with a light metallic green finish. For wheels I’d go with simple, wire spoke wheels in chrome.
This is what you should do. No wide body, no flames. Put a Coyote in it nothing hanging out of the hood. Keep the body original and build everything else. Something you look at and you think it's original, but it's not. Once you get underneath and really look at it You're like, wow, this is a bad ass car. For the Lincoln Continental because it is a classic luxury vehicle, you should stick with that theme. Build a classic white but with a modern twist like diamond pearl white. And a black interior with white trim.
No flames please!
And no wide body it's a cool car coyote swap with vmp charger and a 10speed
I agree. Flames can be done right and look good on the right car. However the Lincoln is definitely not the car for that. Do a solid color. Black or even a deep metallic blue.
Keep the body old school and do a coyote motor with updated drivetrain and AC so it would be a cool cruiser and do some drag and drives with it.
And stay away from the acid.
As far as a motor, my vote would be a fully built 7.3 Godzilla motor with a whipple supercharger.
Just a more affordable Coyote motor, you can make 1,000+ WHP on a stock bottom end

Please don't paint the chrome like everyone else. Keep the chrome chrome.
A mild resto mod would be awesome
Yes this is definitely the way too go a little modern upgrades under the body and nice wheels
@crimmer93069 I hate when people destroy a perfect car.
The should blast the car, if it's beyond repair then do whatever.

I agree. That's an iconic car, keep that look.
I'd bag it and paint it. I'm a Chevy guy, but I'd Coyote swap with trans just for reliability
But that's not what they do on this channel they don't restore cars they add their own flair 2 it and these cars go for great money with modern drive train and suspension and very little body work
lol@ keep it original have you watch their videos? and original suck on any care rebuild.
I'm with pops for the motor and brads idea for a two tone look seems cool. Also this y'all over thinking it, wheels, fresh paint, and fresh stock interior should have that baby looking sweet.
Heck yea thanks y'all for letting us in on the build
Absolutely we need everyone’s help!
2jz with a wide body and flames! Best of both worlds and something to talk about.
You have the ability to build your wide body from scratch and restore to original. You guys are Great!!!

Classic looks with some power. Even two-tone would be alright (depending on the colors.) But please have mercy on that cool old car and no rusty flames, or giant wheels.
Yes with a modern drive train maybe a coyote with a 10 speed good suspension kinda like that Detroit steel shop does just better

Please keep it original!!!!! Simple paint job with pin stripes sounds awesome!!! The banter between you and your dad was great. Thanks for having that part of this video.
Put an old 460 in it, they’re cheap to buy if you don’t go crazy on it. Put a blower or some cheap Chinese turbos on it and you’ll have one fun car!
I think this is the first time I seen you two argue😂😂 I’d keep it all original. I love the old style vehicles, and two tone is and older model style.
No flames , jet black looks awesome.
Restore it Keep the shape original, change the color to black or Nado Grey, and put in lots of chrome
V-8 all the way. No flames. With the way you guy's do builds it's gonna be badass how ever you do it.
Do it right spend the money take all the time you need
And do it right...that's a nice car it deserves it cheers.
Body and paint all stock with a lot of clear.
Air ride suspension.
Coyote w/10 speed.
You have plenty of performance builds. Keep this one a cruiser.
My dad had a 66' when I was a kid. I loved that car.
Two tone for sure. Like a copper or root beer brown would be sick!
With root beer body, cream-colored Hood top and trunk on top that would look bad ass

completely ORIGINAL please, love the videos, look forward to the build
Rebuild the stock motor and transmission and then paint it back to the factory color

imo tire set up is for donk style drag racing.. more side wall in the back for better traction kinda thing.. just guessing

Love you guys whatever you decide, go with it.
Happy to find your videos! I've actually done acid & I still agree with your dad ... No 2JZ !!
Personally I would go with Black exterior, red or black interior, diesel, 17 or 18 rims, with crazy exhaust.
For the Lincoln Continental because it is a classic luxury vehicle, you should stick with that theme. Build a classic white but with a modern twist like diamond pearl white. And a black interior with white trim.
2jz
This is the best time to do the matte black with the gloss black trim. Cummins or an ls.
It's a 62 Lincoln... How much wider could the body get?
I like all of ur dad's ideas!!!! 🎉
Junkyard LS, wrap the car as is or with minor body work, maybe a dark red and paint the trim black
I like the idea of grey with all the Chrome black trimming no flames maybe airbags
