Always enjoy the content. Working on moving from 2-5 to 5-10 right now myself. These videos serve as great tutorials and roadmaps on how to navigate those types of changes. Looking forward to the next one!
Thanks Lex! Needed this video this week. February has been my worst month after having Dec and Jan being my best ever. My first session in March, I was down 800 in my 5/5 (300-600 buyin) ...stuck it out and ended up leaving with a 120 profit, long 8 hour session, my losses came in the first 3 hours.
What you're going through mirrors what I'm going through. Great December and January, abysmal February and so far terrible March (though most of my losses are due to tournaments, but some cash games). It's really enough to make me reconsider playing poker at all. Thankfully I'm not a pro so it's not my main source of income, but still very demoralizing and makes me feel like I've completely forgotten how to play poker.
Love it Lex. Keep the vids coming.. I started building my bankroll at $1-$2 NL($200 max buyin) & have now moved up to $1-$3($600 max buyin) & using about 30% of my roll to buyin now. I love it but taking it slowly cause I could just be on a good run. Learning alot from you vloggers thanks dude
I also started at 1-2 and have played as big as 10-25. Strongly recommend (as most people do) you never have more than 5% of you bank roll in play. If you bankroll is 2k and your buying in for 600 you could play perfect and still run the risk of going broke
Nice comeback! It isn’t always easy to grind back after a start like that! I enjoy all your videos! I really appreciate your advice and transparency in this one. It’s not always easy to show other people your mistakes but you seem to do a good job of it in your videos! Keep it up!
Finally make it to the poker room last night, it’s been awhile. Sat 1-2 table and I have the exact experience you going through. I stick to my gut and continue playing, after 2 hours I finally on the green side. After 6 hrs of playing I decided too racked up, walking away with a profit. I don’t play full time or part time, I just go and play when I get a chance. I think I’m going to step up into 2-5. I been playing 1-2 for awhile and I feel good and comfortable, I probably going to play 2-5 next time.
This is one of my favorite videos. Today, I run badly, and I also play badly. Began to blame myself and lose confidence. when I am losing an frist all-in, and my mentality is beginning to tilt. After that, I began to be reluctant to give up every big pot even though I knew I was behind. Now I realize that the influence of tilt on myself is enormous. I don't have the ability to handle tilting, so I should leave poker's table when I'm down. I will limit my buy-in in the future, because I always make wrong decisions when I am down. And began to rest and try to play some small games. Don't let the tilt of this scene continue to the next one.Thank you Lex
Thanks for the tips. The first and last tips are somewhat conflicting but I think I understand the nuances that make them both true. Continued good luck and looking forward to your future vlogs
Wow, you sure have come a long way. I recall your earlier videos when you specifically said you were NOT trying to school people on how to play poker, and here you are posting this very helpful video. Cheers mate!
Seeing SoFlo on your vids gives me a lot of nostalgia from living there for a few years, a couple of years back. I miss it. Amazing comeback there in that session!
Hey lex, I truly believe this is possibly your best poker session ever. To get stuck early on and then lose your next few hands in a row normally from earlier episodes you would go on tilt and either lose more money and decide to go home but this time you persisted push through and end up having a winning session without going on till just awesome man your progression as a poker player is obvious and right in front of you you’re amazing well done
luv the vids, keep em coming...during the 1st hand, it looked like u just shoved the rest of ur chips right into his stack...poor poker etiquette (yes)....did u do it out of anger or frustration? never seen u do anything like that b4
Definitely enjoyed your commentary re how to get thru a rough streak. I've been following your advice - good feeling that I've been doing the right thing.
you may say whatever you want about the poker knowledge/understanding of different poker vloggers (and people do it all the time) but as someone who played with many of them let me tell you, Lex you're by far the nicest person at least from my experience
Nice video Lex, way to grind it back and, along the way, bring quality, methodical advice to your audience. Addressing downswings in poker (or life) is never an easy subject. Thanks for the quality content, keep grinding and climbing back…upswing coming your way hermano 📈
Question - You're calling the $500 and you're saying you're going to cal pretty much anything, why not shove in that case? You'd have fold equity then vs none when calling on the river.
Great tip about playing down in stakes when things are not going well. This reminds me of baseball, where struggling players are sent down to the minors temporarily, where they can regain their confidence against less harsh competition.
Thanks for those great tips! My downswing has been longer and worse, but not at the monetary level you are at. I will try your advice and I’m sure it will work.
Wow Lex wat a comeback I do believe you are getting better all the time I love how you just put your head down and plow forward lol I really look forward to your next sessions
Thanks for the tips. I’ve been running so bad in spots with 80+% equity and it’s been annoying the crap out of me. It’s been basically 80 hours of getting coolered non-stop.

Do you notice that when you are on extended downswings that you tend to play more passively in spots where you’d normally take the aggressive line? I’m noticing some of that in your play (I’ve watched nearly all your videos). I catch myself doing that sometimes on down swings too and it usually has the reverse effect and costs me more. Anyways great advice, my favorite vlogger by far! Always rooting for ya lex
Good session, good tips! I feel like I have so many sessions like that where I get unlucky in a big pot early and it takes me hours to get back to even. After 8 hours of play you end up winning gas money but you feel like you played well and got really unlucky.
Good comment on moving down in stakes, but I feel there are way more nits at 1-2, so moving down there might be detrimental to building up confidence unless you're looking to refine your bluff game.
Great stuff Lex one of better videos you’ve put out little poker little advice little dog for the vlog good advice on downswings what to do as well. Much appreciated

Been watching since your first vlog, but have to admit, I am totally confused. Tip#1 you state to play more hours. Last tip is to take some breaks. How do you do both?
I think you were right about the 1st hand...a J is blank enough there & you decided to roll with it. By the turn tho it mighta been better to just shove then if that's the case, but unlucky.
My downswings have always been amplified by changing my game. Like when I'm running hot and I start playing more hands. I've fixed that problem and have run good since. I always play like I'm hungry now
Not a bad video. You needed to watch a video like this yourself, a long time ago. I play a different style than you, so I won't try to critique a bunch of your specific plays. But I will say that in the TT hand, I would never in a million years call that turn. For me, it is fold or shove, 100% of the time. Calling it and planning to fold to half the deck on the river, seems incorrect to me, especially when combined with the chance of losing when calling off to the other half of the deck. If you think you're ahead, get the money in before you're behind. Four things I'd add to your list of how to pull out of a downswing, are all along the lines of "play better", and by that I don't necessarily mean to play GTO. Most of it is about bankroll/time/attitude management, and avoiding psychological traps that can put you in a death spiral. 1. Learn to play various styles with different variances. When on a downswing, tighten up to a lower variance style. This is sort of a variation on dropping down in stakes, for a few reasons. The most important is that it makes the play of your opponents relatively softer than your own. They're still going wild on each other in ways you can exploit as "monkey in the middle", while you're more often not even in the hand for them to exploit. The other is that you're buying greater certainty, at just the cost of time and patience. 2. Never set a goal of "getting even before leaving" or anything along those lines. I think that's your biggest mistake in this session. Sure, you ran hot at the end, but it just as easily could have gone the other way. Thinking that a table is too good to leave, is a very common mistake. Usually, you'll be able to find just as good a game tomorrow. And if not, surely next weekend. Playing when fatigued, tilted, or feeling desperate to recoup losses, is -EV. 3. Table selection table selection table selection. It appears you did a fine job of that this time. But it is super easy to find a weak player or two at any table, and use that as an excuse to think a table is exceptionally good, when 3/4 of the tables around you are actually better. This was maybe my own biggest leak for years on end, despite consciously working on it. I was too prone to sit there and slug it out against other good players. Even when I was the best player at the table, it was stupid when there was nobody I had a huge edge on. Even if you have to spend 1/4 of your time for 2 hours, away from the table looking for a better table, it is more +EV than slugging it out. 4. The last thing you want to do on a big downswing, is play a bigger stack than usual. This ties in with being fixated on getting unstuck before leaving the table. If you're felted for $4000 and rebuy for $4000, by the time you're even, you're sitting there with $4000 more on the table than you rebought for. One unlucky hand or one bad decision to blast off, and you're stuck $12,000. Pressing your luck when already losing, is generally dumb, especially if what's really going on is that your opponents are outplaying you and you don't recognize it. It's really hard for a winning player to accept that sometimes, at some tables, even against opponents you usually beat, for reasons you can't even figure out, you are -EV for each hand that is dealt. Relative positions to other players, relative stack sizes, who is targeting whom (even if nobody is targeting you) and so forth can just create a dynamic where you can't isolate the players you want to isolate, you can't get the fold equity you need on your semi-bluffs and bluffs, or you can't get paid off on your value hands. Once you dig your heels in to slug it out, they also see that you're exploitable. At that point, you become the fish even if you technically play well.
I like your Vlogs. But it would also be helpful to know how many players are in the game. Personally, I hate the eight handed game. It has made a difference since Covid.
Hi Lex, would you please consider checking put the NEW BestBet poker room in St. Augustine as well as the new Card House poker room that moved over to Port St. Lucie? We need data... 😁 Thanks bro.
I just stay away from from florida poker tables for now been playing for 10 years and lately i seen too many people getting their missing card on the river its disgusting, also when playing lower stakes you have to be really careful because its another game I seen many guys going from 2-5 to 1-2 and get eaten alive by everyone at the table
First hand on the turn if you thought you were ahead and said calling almost all rivers why not shove..you get it in good or he might fold because I would think if he does not hit he is shutting it down on the rvr for sure might get a small bet out of him..thoughts?
Yea I’ve been running bad for 9 months, occasionally winning but not often or for much. So I just don’t play for weeks. I don’t have enough money to play even more hours when I’m losing pretty much every hand. I did just move to new area so maybe I’ll try here once
Just paused the video at 2:19 to say i quite often limp call with Pocket 5s and pocket 2s in order to get to see a cheap flop, try to set them cheaply to make a big profit and to be able to navigate a cheap walk away when big cards hit the flop. In your 952 hand I’d be crushing your 10/10 with this strategy. Let’s see what comes next? Back to the video ❤
The KQh... Turn top pr n call 3bet...on the 4d river lot of bluffs missed and he could have turned some weird two pr but your hand was underrepresented... You sure that was a good fold
Being a lightweight with alcohol is a thing to be proud of. Saves money and health. That being said, the Old Fashioned - Maker's is my favorite mixed drink when done well.

Nice comeback Lex 👏
