Hunting Newfoundland Moose In A HURRICANE!

  • Three years in the making for a trip of a lifetime. We booked with Robert's Outfitting and hoped as we made the 35+ hour trip to The Rock we made the right choice...and boy did we! On a 6 day trip the experienced guides made sure we all had opportunities to harvest. With all free range hunting there is never a 100% of success due to a lot of things...Mother Nature being a big one!
    Hurricane Fiona hit the coast of Newfoundland on day 3 and by day 4 it was very windy and little rain. By day 5 it was pouring and winds up to 50mph. By day 6 we hit rain, sleet, hai, and wind gusts up to 80mph. Thank goodness we were about 2 hours inland and did not get hit with the 120+mph winds that devastated coastal towns. They claim it's one of the worst to hit the island ever. Some lost their lives and our thoughts are with those families.
    This hunt has some of the best scenery, best food, best company a trip could have. We appreciate everyone in camp who made the week so special. We went 3/4 on Moose and 1/4 on bear. Those numbers would be much better if the hurricane didn't consume our days.
    Enjoy our hunt, we are not professional filters, we are not sponsored, we are average joes who enjoy the thrill of the hunt.

    Awesome video. I’m from Nova Scotia but was away guiding Moose Hunts in Ontario when the hurricane hit. I didn’t even find out about it until a few weeks after, so I found it super cool to see a video of moose hunting in it lol

      The horns are just the add on bonus but the meat has fed our entire family and friend group here where we are from it’s been a blessing.

    It must’ve been some job to get four whole moose back across the border in a camper trailer

      We brought all 3 moose home and all our family and friends have benefit from it. We are not just trophy hunters. The meat was just as important.

    Bad camera work. Where was the moose?

      In the heat of the moment the guide had the camera and was more focused on calling the bull in than the camera work. We do not have camera men, we are just a group of guys who enjoy the outdoors and if we happen to catch it on film to share the thrill of the hunt thats a bonus. We are sorry you didnt enjoy the movie...maybe try the outdoor channel?

      We have heard it pronounced many ways so there was uncertainty. Sorry

      Most of us pronounce it "Newfin-lan" all one word. Don't emphasize the tree 🤣 syllables. Only 2 syllables.

    Hunting Cowboy style, 3 shots to shoot a Moose...and this is called hunting? Sad Story...

    • @bertvandrunen7350
      @bertvandrunen7350 Рік тому +2

      The guides tell you to keep shooting until the moose is down due to how much ground a moose can cover in a short period of time. It may not be apparent in the video but the terrain in Newfoundland is rugged and waste high for a human but not a moose that stands 7 ft. at the shoulders!

      This is instructions from the guide day one. Our guide told us he had a client shoot a moose in the lungs at 30 yards and it ran almost a mile...if there wasn't snow on the ground to track they would have never found it. There are follow up shots at any species when it's needed. If you hunt long enough it will happen to you as well.

    Try editing out the "slave" joke next time. Video was good until then.
