Im an ex foster kid, i wish there were more foster parents like you! And i wish i had a foster parent like you! Im now 34 with a 7 year old biological son im raising on my own (his dad passed away before he was born) and now im going through the process to become a foster parent too! Im really hoping i get approved! ❤
Awww thank you so much for the kind comments. I'm a single mom to a 7 year old (my husband/his dad passed away before he was born) so I'm single and my son really wants to help kids and have siblings and has been begging me for 2 years to become a foster parent. It's tough to do in New Zealand but I definitely won't be giving up and I'm still going through the process.
When I was 9 living in a pretty toxic household, a 56 year old woman who had a couple of donkeys let me into her world. I was really just there for the donkeys at first, but she was the first adult who showed me what real peace and calm and kindness was. She'd let me spend an hour with her in the evening at feeding time, sometimes walking the field, sometimes sitting in the straw on the floor in the stable. She was the first adult I'd ever known who seemed to actually want me around. She was English. I was Americasn. She didn't care. Her name was Mrs Flower. She lived in Dove Cottage on Honey Hill. Sounds like a fairy tale, but she was beautifully real. I never forgot what she did for me, just being a kind grownup who let me into her world, and so I grew up to be that person for other kids sometimes. Show up for their school play, come to their door on their birthday with a pointy party hat on and a tooty horn and invite them for lunch, or just visit for a little while out in the yard when they're on the way home from school. One boy was moving away and I told him about lots of good things he'd find in the city where he was going and he said, "Yeah, but I'll miss YOU." I was just a grownup who let him stop by and visit sometimes, talked with him. Nothing important. But it matters to those kids. The look on their face when you show up. The look on their face when they have to say goodbye. It says everything. Someone did that for me once. I know how it feels. So, I do it for others. It's not much compared to what this man does, but you'd be surprised at the impact of small gestures.
That is very beautiful story about your life and how you interpret it from one kind older woman and her donkeys. I hope you have time to write a book about it for children to read. Thank you
I was a kid like that. Not a toxic household but a single mother who was so ill that she in periods were extremely close to death. I was also bullied and Sa by someone close to the family. I longed to be seen and to have time with an adult who could teach me things, tell me stories and just be like a grandmother or aunt. I hade three lady’s like that in my life before I was 8 (we moved a lot). They made a difference in a world that was very, very dark. Mrs Flowers affected your life and you are doing the same for children who need you, that’s a gift to them and to little you. Some of those kids will go on in life better, happier kids because of you. Please never stop giving back to the children.
Zay has come a long way from the shut down, defensive and suspicious teen he was when he first came to your home. He's blossomed into a kind, sensitive and happy young man. It's wonderful to see.
I almost cried when I heard he arrived without even a suitcase. I was so happy to see him open gifts. He must have been so blown away to see all that just for him.
Jay seems like a well mannered and respectful young man. He says “Yes sir”! Peter you’re a great dad and foster dad to your children. You’re such a blessing to your family. ❤
I love how Jay looks so comfortable in the kitchen. I feel that cooking gives him comfort. It's also a way he can feel that he is contributing to being a part of the family. ❤️
Sure would like to see his eyes. My son, when he was this age, wore his hair in his face because he was hiding from social interaction and had low self esteem. He’s 33 now and finally cut his hair about a year ago. I love looking at his face when we talk! I hope this young man feels love here.
I hope Jay realizes just how loving people really are. I’m sure he does and I know he is thankful. It takes a village to raise a child. You definitely have a village.
At one point you had a link to Jay's Amazon wish list but I could never find it!! Letting each child do an Amazon wish list and they arrive at your house is a fabulous idea and I would buy each and every one of them something!!
YOU are such a BRIGHT light for these kids! makes my eyes water...how much you care for EACH one. You instinctively know what they need and how to bring out the best in each one of them.
I hope that anyone watching this today that is on the fence about fostering~ would take this as your sign to get off the fence and get started! Imagine what your action can do to make the difference for a child that is praying for a forever home. God is good!
He’s a natural in the kitchen. I just learned a new recipe. I’m praying he will settle in well and know he is loved despite the circumstances he may have came from. I’m glad he has you Peter.
J’s sweet face when you said 7th grade after he told you he is a sophomore (which is 10th grade). So sweet, he’s like “ok, this guy doesn’t know the grades”. So funny. Sending you all blessings and 💕 love
You definitely have gained another son. If he wants to hang out with you, he trusts you. He will be there till 18. He's lucky to have you as a father.prayers for you and your family
Glad you have other fosters in the house, they help set the standards and common-sense rules. My three took their youngest brother aside and told him to "cut the crap" or you will find yourself back in the horrible system. That helped snap him back, the anger was really at his mother (drugs) and I would listen.
Jay certainly knows his way around the kitchen! Lovely to see him fitting right in and being happily received by all the family. Wishing him all the best and sending love to you all from Austria.
Jay’s haircut turned out great!! What a blessing for all the 🎁 for him. I wish I could help but, right now I can’t. I will continue to watch and comment to support your channel.
Jay you deserved these gifts. Handsome boy and I'll be over the moon if he ever gets a haircut where we can see that handsome face and beautiful eyes!!!! Jay you found a 'home'....trust in the love there....be part of the miracle. We're here for you. ♥️🇨🇦
Peter you have such a kind heart...i love watching you, this world has become crazy so when i watch you i calm down. Hello from a kenyan living in qatar.
So, so happy to see Zayn back. Your home, his home, is where he belongs. My heart broke so hard when he left and I can’t tell you how how happy and satisfied I have been since Zayns return. It’s as though your home is now complete again.
Welcome Jay! I watched your cooking video and you had my heart. Your new family I think have been praying for a cook in the rotation! I see skill with your concentration and freedom to calculate measurements by sight. Jay enjoy each day with the gift of this family you are highly blessed in this placement. Where is the list to help you? Oh how did you break your finger? WELCOME!
Seeing all those gifts really tickled me!! I hope he can feel at home and be happy ❤️. I know he loves his haircut but I wish he’d cut his bangs. He is handsome and has nice eyes ….he should show them off ☺️☺️
I live in NC too and my husband and I will be starting our fostering journey within the year! I cannot have any more myself, but blessed with one when I was younger. She's now an adult and on her own. My husband doesn't have any and after he's done in the Army (roughly 5 years left) we will be looking for a surrogate, but we also want to adopt our first child together within the next 2-3 years max. We don't care about the age, sex, race, disabilities, etc. Every child deserves to be loved, properly cared for, and shown that they DO matter and they ARE wanted. Thank you, Peter, for being such a kind, compassionate, and loving human being, and most importantly a father figure to all the kids who come to you. You are amazing. Never stop being you! ❤🙏🙌
It is so refreshing to see the love people have for others! We live in a generous country! I love watching your videos! Thank you for all that you do and all you are teaching!
I can see gratitude, happiness and self worth in all the children. They are so respectful and responsible for their age. Well done Dad. It's so heartwarming to see how you take care of them.
Welcome home J!!! You are a handsome teen!!! I love how Anthony and your hair are wild and curly! Can’t wait to see, hear, and love on you like the rest on the family ❤❤❤
I LOVE CHILDREN!! From here 2 there & everywhere… Every Single little human DESERVES unconditional love, respect & support. And, with those key elements the chances of a child’s success as teens & adults is far greater than not. A villager sends ♥️💯 to your villagers & other’s around the world.. I’m soo thankful Jay has found a loving home with you , no matter how long or short . ❤️ I am curious though how he feels about having such a vulnerable sad time of his being made public online ? Just hope he’s fully onboard with that , it can’t be taken back .
I always thought foster kids couldn't be shown on youtube/social media regardless of whether they agreed to it. Until they are age 18. Maybe it's different in different states?
Greetings to Jay from Berlin in Germany! 🙋🎄Thank you Peter, Jay and all... that you introduced us and gave us a picture about Jay and foster care life. So...I hope, that Jay would not just be with you for only 4 weeks! So, that he finaly could find some stability now and stay a little longer, like untill his highschool is finished or longer. If he also would like it.😍☀️
18:05 Peter this is just amazing. Thank you to your family for taking him in and thank you for showing how great teens can be ❤ 19:45 thank you for the inspiration. We started our licensing process because of you and your book❤ (it’s been on our hearts for a decade)

You’re literally one of my very favorite humans. I’m a wannabe foster mom (life just isn’t conducive for me to deal so currently, but I’m more excited than I can express for the day I can!!), and watching you grow your family has been such a joy! Those really are some lucky kiddos to be a part of such a loving, open family. So many blessings to you and your amazing kiddos in 2025 and beyond ❤️
Oh my goodness, Graham, NC is in my county. I work with teens here, and we have such a shortage of foster parents and a really overworked, underfunded DSS. It's infuriating and heartbreaking. I'm rooting for you J, and I'm so glad you're in a supportive home! ❤ (Also, I'm super impressed with your cooking skills!)
Welcome Jay! My big brothers name is Jay, he just turned 80 and i’ll turn 73 soon. I think foster kids have to cover their faces for privacy.
Adopted kids can show their faces.
