I think the fifth midfielder options are so much better than money tied up in a third striker Ross. Definitely want back to Saka GW10 so only getting rid of Son or Salah would allow that. I wildcarded last week and it was so painful not having Saka this weekend and hoping the Utd boys did nothing (they will start returning, it's just when). Just go Haaland/Watkins and Watkins can cover any other striker depending on form/fixtures. Allows you to upgrade Pallistri and enough ITB to get to Saka from any of your other mids. Its tough enough getting killed by Trippier each week without Saka doing damage too - and he will.

As a West Ham fan Aguerd is a class CB but he has a rash challenge in him more than you would like, quite prone to bookings and possible reds I would personally go for Zouma or Coufal if you want a West Ham defender 👍
Strongly considering some differential from Liverpool, such as Diaz. Also next 2 may appear as tough ones for Villa, Wolves and WHU are not easy fixtures

Bowen casually scoring 4 points more than Salah till now and having an amazing fixture run from GW8 to GW17 with Tottenham and Newcastle the only tough opponents.
Salah was kind of robbed vs spurs, and also got subbed off because of the red cards so he really should have had more points and cant be judged by that.

What counts are points. Bowen has more of them at 5.5M less. His points per million per game is insane and missing out on them wasn’t great for FPL. His fixture run only gets better after the next game week. Expect the experts to bandwagon after the international break (especially if he returns anything against Newcastle) unless he gets injured or something.

I know you can only focus on your own team, but isn't the worry with wildcarding to a template team that you're just keeping pace with everyone else, but not gaining rank on those already above you with the players you're wildcarding in?
As a West Ham fan, Zouma is a much safer option than Aguerd. Aguerd is a brilliant defender but he's been quite error prone recently, with us just signing Mavropanos he's the most likely to make way if performances drop. Not to mention Zouma is a much higher goal threat on set pieces because of his physicality and height.
I think you need a bit more balance. Like you said you are very reliant on 3 teams. I would consider Bowen for Diaby because you have AVL assets already in Cash and Watkins
Hello. I got 30 points this week. My team does not look to bad but I don't know if I sould wlidcard. Big problems: Saka, Rashford, Fernades, Ruben Dias, Pickford, no Son, no salah. Small problems: no aston villa, mbuemo, botman. I have 2 free transfers and I can get in cash, salah, son and diaby over the next 2 weeks for a -4. Should I wildcard?
Great draft FPL Raptor and congratulations on finally getting rid of the dead weight in midfield. However you still have a lingering obsession with Fernandes which manifests in your strange bracketing of him with Saka. Chalk and cheese there with Saka a vastly superior player.
IMO with trippiers decent fixtures, estus v good fixtures after the next 2 and son seemingly keeping up with salah I cant justify the sacrifices to fit him in
A draft without Haaland offers so much more. Captaincy choices of Son and Salah let’s you back against the majority and get Brighton and Arsenal players GW 10. Is Haaland really worth it for the next seven GW’s? Offers more flexibility with trends and lets you keep on top of price rises

I’ve got Watkins in my WC as well, but not sure if I want to triple on Aston Villa or move him to Darwin and triple on Liverpool. Considering what they can do with 9 men they ought to slaughter teams if they can keep 11 on the pitch. And Darwin kinda has to start for a few weeks, lol.
Ross, why don't you drop Alvarez, diaby and lascelles from that draft and get archer, Gordon and trippier. Of course you'll have to bench Gordon in 8 and play 433 that week with archer up front along with haaland and watkins but from 9 you can play 442 every week. May be that could work? The simple question we should ask is: Would the trippier and gordon combo score more points than the Alvarez and diaby combo. I think it could. Or do you think otherwise?
nahh Im wildcarding too, was always the plan to wildcard in 8-10 window for me, hoped to hold it to 9/10 but Ive had enough. I really really want Darwin and Trips but dont think I can fit it in. Think Elliot Anderson over Pellisteri might be a better mid enabler myself
Watkins, is slightly knee jerk, only one of his goals was clinical the other two were kind of jammy. But I don't blame you, there are no other nailed on strikers out there.
I wildcarded in GW7 and had Botman who now has a flag and feel reluctant to use a transfer to replace him. I'm not sure if Lascelles is a good replacement as he is short-term. I went for Andersen from Palace. It also feels that Watkins is a kneejerk along with Son and Sterling. Of course, Son is proving essential but Villa changed their tactics against Brighton and Watkins profited. I'm not sure he is going to smash it every week versus a Bowen in midfield who has been consistently returning. Villa do have the fixtures and Watkins is likely to return but changing to a 3-4-3 feels risky as you would need 2 transfers to go back to a 3-5-2. Otherwise, the wildcard feels pretty close to mine and the rest of the game.

And why would you go for Alvarez with the next 2 diufficult fixtures? Not a fan!
I think Darwin Nunez is likely to get more minutes now. Especially after missing out in the spurs game. He looks like he's going to be fired up. I would prefer J Ramsey over Diaby you will save 0.8 Cheaper & a good differential. Chukwuemeka over Pellustri you will save 0.1 & he's back in a few weeks. Much better option. By GW 10 the £0.9 you saved will allow you to go from Maddison to Saka. Or use it to bring Darwin Nunez.

Great video Ross! My wildcard is also active, for many of the same reasons as you, though our teams were a bit different. Hit the button in anger and exasperation on Saturday afternoon, but there's logic and I'm happy I've done it. Wanted to hold the wildcard as long as possible, and half my team was great and as I wanted it going forward, and was making moves on the other half. But that half was garbage and filled with injuries and minutes risks. Had to pull the trigger, gonna be a fun week now!
Got 80 GW6 and my team were good. And then activated WC and got " Oli hero" Aka Wittkins and 64 points with kabore to play. My oroginal team will give me around 30 points this week.

Top 5 midfields at present Saka, Son, Bowen, Salah & Odegaard…Odegaard is £4.1 million cheaper than Salah and scored 212 points in 2022/23 vs Salah 239. He is currently 1 point behind Salah. Top 5 defenders Andersen from CP is the best defender (how under the radar is he) followed by Trippier, White, Cash & Botman. I think trying to get everyone in means you are 2 injuries or an inconsistent Vila side away from disaster 🤔…
Main changes I’m making to this WC is Lascelles upto Tripper (feels essential to me) with Alvarez going down to Archer (who is a better sub with more reliable mins than Lascelles and Pellistri)
Diaz> Salah. Gakpo injury will be for weeks plus jota red card meaning he has quarantined starts for multiple games. He also has been first choice for the pst couple weeks regardless. His price point keeps your team balanced as well allowing for 5th midfielder. Only downside is no penalties.

Personally I'm not a fan of 3 assets from 1 team. My current team is: Areola + Ederson for GK. Trippier, Botman, Zouma, Estupinan, Udogie in Def. Foden, Diaby, Saka, Mbeumo, Mitoma in Mid. Haaland, Watkins and Archer in Attack. Plus I have 2.4M in the bank. Botman to come out this week, probably for another Newcastle Def. I'm also going to bring in Son this week, just not sure who for at the moment due to possible injuries to both Diaby and Saka. I'm hoping they are both OK, then it's a choice between Foden to Son or Mbeumo to Son.
Im on WC and am tossing and turning between 4-4-2 and 4-3-3. Its bascially either Trippier on 4-4-2 or Alvarez on 4-3-3. On 4-3-3 I get a stronger bench with Gabriel/Zouma but I feel like Trippier has the higher upside to Alvarez over the next 5 gws. Thoughts?

Ross, my GW 7 has been a stinker! I had Mbeumo and Wissa playing today and have ended up with a grand total of 25 points!! So from 750K in GW4 I have now fallen to 2.8 million!! I activated my WC yesterday only and like you always suggest, play it for fun, I am going to do it exactly that. The team I have built up is without Haaland and I am hoping he will not punish me at least for the next five GWs. Let's have your opinion. i did a wild card before this gameweek, and its verry similar, have porro instead of udogy, and mitoma instead of alvarez. actually did a minus four from botman to a cheap burnley defender and morris to watkins. just got the fomo. and my brother had ødegaard and watkins this week, and is flying. cant fall further behind. good draft though.

Do you still think Haaland is essential? 8 goals from the easiest opening run of games isn't living up to the 14m price tag in my book, next 8 games are their hardest run of games all season. I think you lose more points elsewhere trying to afford Haaland than you've been getting so far from him. If you could only have Haaland or Alvarez right now, Alvarez is much better value. Haaland *should* be scoring fewer goals than last season, and Alvarez *should* be scoring more than last season

Also on wildcard. Have Bruno and Tripper and no Salah. I feel even more sure no Salah is the right way to go as I'll have much more flexibility. It's the same logic of not owing Kane last season. He ticked along but by not having him you had flexibility and other assets that ticked along.
I started the season with Watkins and held him for 5 games. He was missing big chances, his minutes were poor and he was off pens. Of course, as soon as I took him out......

Trippier was non negotiable for me on my WC last week. Newcastle’s defence is one of the best, he’s nailed, and an assist threat.

Hello. I got 30 points this week. My team does not look to bad but I don't know if I sould wlidcard. Big problems: Saka, Rashford, Fernades, Ruben Dias, Pickford, no Son, no salah. Small problems: no aston villa, mbuemo, botman. I have 2 free transfers and I can get in cash, salah, son and diaby over the next 2 weeks for a -4. Should I wildcard?

Great draft FPL Raptor and congratulations on finally getting rid of the dead weight in midfield. However you still have a lingering obsession with Fernandes which manifests in your strange bracketing of him with Saka. Chalk and cheese there with Saka a vastly superior player.
IMO with trippiers decent fixtures, estus v good fixtures after the next 2 and son seemingly keeping up with salah I cant justify the sacrifices to fit him in
A draft without Haaland offers so much more. Captaincy choices of Son and Salah let’s you back against the majority and get Brighton and Arsenal players GW 10. Is Haaland really worth it for the next seven GW’s? Offers more flexibility with trends and lets you keep on top of price rises
i personally take trippier bruno and saka instead slah diaby and burn, in my opinion this 3 can make more points, we wil see GL!

I like it Ross BUT - It's a brave bench. Plus alot of eggs in a basket with 2 triple ups. I think Salah has to make way for a Darwin to release funds for more flexibility or at the very least : Lose a Villa for a West Ham attacker
What about a no Haaland line up.? Is that FPL Sacrilege? My current Wild Card has no Haaland, means Salah, Son, Odegaard, Saka Diaby midfield.
Went early with the wildcard and played it GW 7 …scored 62 compared to 35 if I didn’t . Was worried I had only 4 of your starting 11 for the game week but it paid off . What is one of your rules Ross…play your own game ….. BUT always watch and listen to your videos. ❤
I’ve got Watkins in my WC as well, but not sure if I want to triple on Aston Villa or move him to Darwin and triple on Liverpool. Considering what they can do with 9 men they ought to slaughter teams if they can keep 11 on the pitch. And Darwin kinda has to start for a few weeks, lol.
Ross, why don't you drop Alvarez, diaby and lascelles from that draft and get archer, Gordon and trippier. Of course you'll have to bench Gordon in 8 and play 433 that week with archer up front along with haaland and watkins but from 9 you can play 442 every week. May be that could work? The simple question we should ask is: Would the trippier and gordon combo score more points than the Alvarez and diaby combo. I think it could. Or do you think otherwise?
nahh Im wildcarding too, was always the plan to wildcard in 8-10 window for me, hoped to hold it to 9/10 but Ive had enough. I really really want Darwin and Trips but dont think I can fit it in. Think Elliot Anderson over Pellisteri might be a better mid enabler myself

Watkins, is slightly knee jerk, only one of his goals was clinical the other two were kind of jammy. But I don't blame you, there are no other nailed on strikers out there.
I wildcarded in GW7 and had Botman who now has a flag and feel reluctant to use a transfer to replace him. I'm not sure if Lascelles is a good replacement as he is short-term. I went for Andersen from Palace.
It also feels that Watkins is a kneejerk along with Son and Sterling. Of course, Son is proving essential but Villa changed their tactics against Brighton and Watkins profited. I'm not sure he is going to smash it every week versus a Bowen in midfield who has been consistently returning. Villa do have the fixtures and Watkins is likely to return but changing to a 3-4-3 feels risky as you would need 2 transfers to go back to a 3-5-2. Otherwise, the wildcard feels pretty close to mine and the rest of the game.

Sorry Ross, love your content but not keen on your WC team. Firstly playing it week before International Break doesn’t seem optimal. Week 10 fixtures swing better in my view. Botman Rashford to Cash Maddison I think would have seen you through to week 10 but hope it goes well for you
Sold Watkins for Morris I had that front 3 already also benched Saka having a bad run. I have put Cash in for Chilwell. Probably get Wakins back in GW10 possibly Trippier before that

Don't like WC this week without going big on some explosive players. I guess that's what the case is if you want Salah? Trippier for me is as essential as Salah. Cheap GK combination, what happens when Turner's dropped? Pellestri a poor bench option because he won't even play soon now Anthony's back. And why would you go for Alvarez with the next 2 diufficult fixtures? Not a fan!
I think Darwin Nunez is likely to get more minutes now. Especially after missing out in the spurs game. He looks like he's going to be fired up.
I would prefer J Ramsey over Diaby you will save 0.8 Cheaper & a good differential.
Chukwuemeka over Pellustri you will save 0.1 & he's back in a few weeks. Much better option.
By GW 10 the £0.9 you saved will allow you to go from Maddison to Saka. Or use it to bring Darwin Nunez.

Great video Ross! My wildcard is also active, for many of the same reasons as you, though our teams were a bit different. Hit the button in anger and exasperation on Saturday afternoon, but there's logic and I'm happy I've done it. Wanted to hold the wildcard as long as possible, and half my team was great and as I wanted it going forward, and was making moves on the other half. But that half was garbage and filled with injuries and minutes risks. Had to pull the trigger, gonna be a fun week now!
Of course it’s not good to book in transfers but I would keep Watkins and then use two transfers in GW10 to get Saka back.
Got 80 GW6 and my team were good. And then activated WC and got " Oli hero" Aka Wittkins and 64 points with kabore to play. My oroginal team will give me around 30 points this week.

Great minds think alike...my team is very similar = 3-4-3...The differences are I have Sanchez, Kaboré,Schär, JWP & Hee Chan. Fingers cross are arrows are green. I really like the forward line of Watkins, Haaland & Alvarez

Top 5 midfields at present Saka, Son, Bowen, Salah & Odegaard…Odegaard is £4.1 million cheaper than Salah and scored 212 points in 2022/23 vs Salah 239. He is currently 1 point behind Salah. Top 5 defenders Andersen from CP is the best defender (how under the radar is he) followed by Trippier, White, Cash & Botman. I think trying to get everyone in means you are 2 injuries or an inconsistent Vila side away from disaster 🤔…

Main changes I’m making to this WC is Lascelles upto Tripper (feels essential to me) with Alvarez going down to Archer (who is a better sub with more reliable mins than Lascelles and Pellistri)

Diaz> Salah. Gakpo injury will be for weeks plus jota red card meaning he has quarantined starts for multiple games. He also has been first choice for the pst couple weeks regardless. His price point keeps your team balanced as well allowing for 5th midfielder. Only downside is no penalties.

Personally I'm not a fan of 3 assets from 1 team. My current team is: Areola + Ederson for GK. Trippier, Botman, Zouma, Estupinan, Udogie in Def. Foden, Diaby, Saka, Mbeumo, Mitoma in Mid. Haaland, Watkins and Archer in Attack. Plus I have 2.4M in the bank. Botman to come out this week, probably for another Newcastle Def. I'm also going to bring in Son this week, just not sure who for at the moment due to possible injuries to both Diaby and Saka. I'm hoping they are both OK, then it's a choice between Foden to Son or Mbeumo to Son.
Im on WC and am tossing and turning between 4-4-2 and 4-3-3. Its bascially either Trippier on 4-4-2 or Alvarez on 4-3-3. On 4-3-3 I get a stronger bench with Gabriel/Zouma but I feel like Trippier has the higher upside to Alvarez over the next 5 gws. Thoughts?
Also I love Alvarez but I am worried that Pep will eventually rest him and Trippier is hitting his form big time. Am pretty set on the rest of the squad btw. Any thoughts/advice
Ross, my GW 7 has been a stinker! I had Mbeumo and Wissa playing today and have ended up with a grand total of 25 points!! So from 750K in GW4 I have now fallen to 2.8 million!! I activated my WC yesterday only and like you always suggest, play it for fun, I am going to do it exactly that. The team I have built up is without Haaland and I am hoping he will not punish me at least for the next five GWs. Let's have your opinion.

Do you still think Haaland is essential? 8 goals from the easiest opening run of games isn't living up to the 14m price tag in my book, next 8 games are their hardest run of games all season. I think you lose more points elsewhere trying to afford Haaland than you've been getting so far from him. If you could only have Haaland or Alvarez right now, Alvarez is much better value. Haaland *should* be scoring fewer goals than last season, and Alvarez *should* be scoring more than last season

I started the season with Watkins and held him for 5 games. He was missing big chances, his minutes were poor and he was off pens. Of course, as soon as I took him out......
