Hey Josh, I’m a newbie here, but I love your videos. I’ve spent the last few days binge watching, I really enjoy the music, telemetry, high quality voice overs and the editing. It’s all *chefs kiss*
Excellent vid Josh. A very accurate assessment of that course. It’s definitely energy sapping and tricky with those tight U-turns. I really enjoyed your rundown on your race strategy/tactics too. Congrats on snagging a podium spot. I watch a lot of cycling videos and take this as a big compliment, when I say you are at the top of the list. Great stuff keep ‘em coming
Love this breakdown of the racecraft. Getting up near Lanterne Rouge! I think you give yourself too little credit, and the cross-training isn't hurting you either!
Well done Josh! Impressive work at the end there to get second. And great overview of tactics for West Head RR. Just a shame you were up against my boy SDW (Steve de Wit) who is an absolute animal! That was his first race!
Haha I could tell he was strong. He was pulling back a lot of the attacks as well as sitting on the front tonnes. To be fair the strongest rider won which was him. His timing was also really good, so props to him
Racing is good fun, and there’s a lack of footage and commentary especially for the lower grades. Thanks for watching and commenting. Hope to see you soon :)
Good effort, nice to see your training paying dividends. You're sprints getting better & better. I raced at Heffron Park in the early 2000s & loved cycling in Sydney. Keep it up bud 👍
Hey mate. I use a software called Telemetry Overlay, it costs about $150 USD from my memory. You can sync the footage to the data file to get the on screen data. Then you tinker the overlay to suit your desired overlay.
Regarding the frequency of the West Head RR. I live in the supposed cycling cornucopia of canberra and we have maybe 5 or 6 road races a year with AusCycling affiliated clubs.
@@joshkwan the ones have are pretty good though, you should come down. At the Hayman Classic, a race with a gravel section there was a big interstate field.
Haha yea the reflectors. Luckily they just bump you a bit while you’re riding, but don’t pose too much danger. Would avoid them if possible since they probably scrub a bit of speed off you. Hope you enjoyed the racing footage, it’s quite different to running races 😋
Great video but… crossing the centre white line is a no no at West Head RR. Call me a stickler but position is a reward for good racing, not something achieved by going off course. If it was on the grass, that would be different. Not that you were the only one. Keep the videos coming though, great to watch.
That is fair enough mate, and to be honest I would have loved to stay left of the lines. But the group fanned out so much it was almost impossible not to.
Agree with this - it used to be an instant DQ if you’re seen crossing the line. The turn around used to be much further down the hill about 10!years back (by the gate entrance) so you had an horrific 15% grade to take on from a standing start back to the finish line. Proud to say I held off the peloton once for the win but I was very glad I didn’t wear a heart monitor as it nearly killed me! Great video and explanation. Keep it up and move up the grades….
Great video mate. Such a great ride
Great vid. Do they still do a version of the RR starting from the Akuna Bay marina? That was a brutal start with no chance to hide.
No they don’t. That sounds freakin crazy!
Race tactics analysis is so cool!👌👌
It’s really fun to race, but also fun to view my footage afterwards and share with my channel! :)

Thank you!! I’ve been working hard to increase the quality of the videos so I appreciate that you enjoy it so much 😄
Great video, well done. Some other riders doing some not so safe race manoeuvres in there......😬

Thank you mate! Encouraging people like yourself in the cycling community is what makes this sport so great!
Thanks for watching 🤙🏻

Thank you mate! There’s no prize to whoever does the most watts. It’s whoever crosses the line first.
Thanks for the compliments :)

Yes nice work @joshkwan!! Great strong ride from SDW and yourself!!
Nice riding with you Josh! Nice to see a video commentary of the race.
Great result Josh - B grade next race 😂

I want to get a win first!

Thanks! I am keen to do more races after the marathon
Thats sick. Well done.
Another great video Josh. Now people know our team tactic for the next one is lining up for the sprint finish!
They can try and stop us ;)
Great video. I’ve watched your earlier ones too…very cool. Cheers!
What a great video mate. Super interesting race analysis and congrats on the 2nd place.
Thank you mate! It’s a cool race and a much different experience to the normal crit race.
Hope you enjoyed :)

Always fun to see a race from someone else’s perspective. Thanks for watching :)
Was waiting for this video!!! 🎉🎉
Here it is! Hope you enjoy
Thanks😊!!!!
Hey mate! Great Vid! What was the stand you have for your bike?
Topeak Dual Touch Bicycle Storage Stand
Hi Josh , how and where do you get your telemetry on your video from the Bike?

Well done JK 👍👍
Great effort for 2nd place.
Thanks mate, I’m still trying to get that top podium position. Bit of luck, bit of skill, and gotta get of my arse and train more 😜
Looks like you had fun, you should keep an eye out for the Ilawara Cycling Club races, they have a race up on the escarpment i think you would enjoy 🍻
Thank you mate! I will have a look on Bunchuer :)
Very cool

Sounds like I need to make my way down to Canberra 😜

Too bad they didnt fill the back pockets with scones and muffins😂
Congrats on being the 2nd most manly person there!
That’s the whole point of podiuming
woohoo
When will I see you racing? 😜
@joshkwan I'm sure you'll recognise the back of head 🤣
06:15 the yellow things freak me out when you ride like that
