The lotus design on Fern's bracelet is actually a full bloomed lotus which might signify that her love relationship with Stark will end in a blossom, while Frieren's ring lotus design is just a flower bud which sorta signifies that Frieren and Himmel's love relationship will never blossom to a full bloom lotus which is the happy ending everybody wanted. Himmel might have noticed that too that's why he just smiled and say nothing when he puts the ring on Frieren's finger.😭😭

The frame with Himmel putting the ring on Frieren is so deep, the clock tower signifies the barrier between them, that is time & the ring Himmel puts on her bypasses that barrier, even though Himmel himself could not & he knew it.
also, it could mean that Himmel's affection for her is eternal

Himmel's suffering must continue, but at least he has Hecate's covers to soften it for him.
This poignant scene to me reflected the pathos of Himmel's unrequited love for Frieren and the inevitable grief that would follow him to his grave. The toiling of the church bell at the end of the anime scene brought tears to my eyes. Was it symbolizing a young couple's marriage or a funeral?
Himmel was content. He knew Frieren extremely well and he knew what it meant to be in love with someone who doesn't comprehend human emotions.
