There are quite a few videos showing that it is indeed stronger. Mythbusters did one such test. Just as a starting point for you.

@@maherelzaher if it was feasible I would. Only they break down below 40 degrees farenheit, and trying to get enough of the stuff is insane.
That Mythbusters video I told you about? Took 9 and a half miles worth of spider silk to be the same mass as the steel gauge wire they used.

I mean you can easily destroy a spider web how is it stronger then STEEL?

If you take two strands, one of steel and one of spider's silk, and both have the same thickness (diameter), then the spider's silk will be stronger of the two in tension, or pulling force (tensile strength). If you could make the spider's silk as thick as a steel cable, it would still be 5 times stronger than the steel cable of the same thickness.
Because of its size
You can break a chopstick easily, but you need an axe to cut a tree, even these has same wood material
So, if somehow you can create spider web with diameter of a wire, you will get stronger material than steel wire with same diameter

Cannot compare Rubber Band with Cotton Thread, Raw Silk Elongation is 200-300% before rupture/break. While steel allowable elongated only 0.5-1.0%.. elastic silk can make TAMBOLINE, not a rigid cable bridge. The life of raw silk is 2 weeks before degraded away. ( The new spun silk been rebuilt all the time.) The treated/ boiled silk, lose the ELASTICITY and become solid thread, like cotton (or steel wire). Misleading article.!! Fooling people for many years, and still going on.
