I really enjoyed watching this video and seeing some of your snaps. You take really nice pics of your family and it's great to see just how nicely you compose them. More vids please.
Oh, hey thanks. I'm trying to make it: shorter, more concise, and easier to watch. A few early videos were, as critical information suggested, too long.
I’m not a big fan of the 50 Summilux ASPH, not because it isn’t perfectly engineered, or sharp, or output amazing colours. It’s because it’s bokeh is perfectly non-characteristic and bland. Amazing lens all around, but for me at least, boring. For this reason I picked up and stay with the older pre ASPH.
Beautiful video of an amazing lens. I use a Jupiter 3 from 1951 as my everyday lens. I will take it with me to my afterworld. Regards and keep up the good work. Ulf
Many thanks for the encouragement. Things are in a jam right now (back to back still life work) meaning videos are slowing down, but I hope, very much hope, that I'll be able to soon follow up with the 35mm Ultron.
I own and enjoy this lens on my Leica M3. It is very well made and gives a very sharp image. Whenever we talk about lenses on UA-cam, it would be ideal to have a basis for comparison to other 50mm lenses available for the Leica M3. I bought my chromed Voigtlander lens because a Leitz Summicron in fine condition is much more costly. Zeiss makes a Planar 50 mm lens w an M mount too. With practice most shooters should get pleasing results. Nice choice for less than Leitz.
Good review, this is my favorite lens at the moment. I upgraded from the 40 1.4 MC and didn't know what I was missing. Here's an idea... Voigtlander 50mm 1.5 vs the now released 50mm 1.2. FIGHT!
Nice review. I'm torn between the Zeiss C-Sonnar and this Nokton 50/1.5. I'm looking for a 50mm "character lens" as my current 50mm is a ZM Planar 50/2 - very nice but also very clinical. Have you shot with the C-Sonnar? What are your thoughts of this vs. the Nokton. My plan is to shoot this exclusively with a rangefinder.
Do you still have this lens? How do you find it compared with the Summicron V3 you recently reviewed, especially in terms of bokeh, rendering and fringing? I'm also interested in the 40mm f1.2, the image samples I've seen look glorious.
@@FauxtakuLounge Another one to add to the list, then. Hey, if you like that rendering, see if you can try the Voigtlander collapsible Heliar 50mm f3.5. It has the most organic rendering I've seen on a modern lens, but still sharp and contrasty. I've got the limited nickel version, it's so cool in bright daylight and shade.
@@raksh9 You know, renting lenses is pretty expensive. I'd like to try it, but we will see. I have 50Cron. V5. I think its almost perfect lens BUT if you want some Leica POP and rendering i think 50/1.5 Nokton has more of that. Nokton is more similar to 50 Summilux than Summicron. So make you desicion based on that.
@@taneltinnuri8985Interesting I am currently testing a Friends 50 mm Summicron and I liked the outcome right away. Then I did learn about aspherical lenses and was even more impressed, flare control, depth etc. Is there something like the Summicron Aspherical. by Voigtländer?
I only nearly liked this video because of the dopey "we're on a mission" music.inappropriate to the pleasing visuals. An irritating distraction from the images, and the info, which was concise and well presented. Dump that noise buddy and you're on a winner.

Thanks for the kind comment. I really appreciate it.
Beautifully shot and produced video.

Great review! This is my second favorite lens that I own after the 50mm Summilux ASPH. And yes, the silver chrome version is beautiful.

Great info about the build between the black and chrome lenses. Chrome it is... Thanks
awesome review! this is exactly what i needed to finally make the purchase. PS silver color looks awesome!
Glad it helped you (Fauxtaku here).
Just bought this len for my m240 three days ago. It is beautiful.
Enjoy it... it is phenomenal.

how about the focusing ring?did u have some issue or any trouble with it?because i'm planning to buy this lens but second hand😁😅
I have an M10 and I was wondering how you get the camera to know what lens yours shooting since it isn't a Leica lens? Great review BTW
You can set it in the camera firmware.
nice to see a down to earth review... keep up wth that
Oh, hey, I'm glad that it helped.
nice to watch well produced

Here's an idea...
Voigtlander 50mm 1.5 vs the now released 50mm 1.2.
FIGHT!
I'm sure that new lens is good. Not as pretty, though.
Agreed! I'd love to see a comparison, especially the renderings.
Fancy lens you have there. I've got the much larger Sony e mount f/1.2 version in basic black. I love these Noktons and I have a 21mm also.

I have no shot with the c-sonnar, but I am also torn. The Zeiss isn't aspherical so it will show no onions.
Thank you for that nice review. Beautiful pictures. Terrible, terrible annoying background music.
I man I love that music.
Fauxtaku Lounge so do I! It’s the best part about this channel
The music was so cool! (born in 1984)
Please test the video to, because some lens have different flare when you take with video

nice video
Great review but I'll be honest; very loud and annoying music!
The good part is that the music only covers parts without text. And... it’s uppity non pretentious BS. Love it.
@@FauxtakuLounge its inappropriate and spoils enjoyment of the images.
"The black version however is ugly" 😂😂😂
Got to keep it 100.
