boating in Gajanur Dam, Sakrebyle elephant camp, J shettihalli reserve forest, Shivamogga Karnataka

JLR (Jungle Lodges and Resorts) Karnataka has introduced boating in Gajanur Dam which is inside the Sakrebyle elephant camp. So, when you go to Sakrebyle you can see elephants, do elephant ride and also do boating in same place. JLR charges 100Rs per person for boating which is a 12 minute ride, it could have been better and longer by atleast another 8mins. it's been almost a year now since the time boating is started here. tickets can be purchased at the ticket counter which is at the entrance of the elephant camp near the gate. this place gets crowded on weekends and holidays. weekdays is the best time to visit this place. September to January is best time to visit as Summer will be very very hot and better to avoid. if you like rain, then you must visit this place July to September when it will be lush green and the landscape will be very different at that time. there is a small shop near the ticket counter which offers you some basic refreshments. nearest airport is Shivamogga which connects to Bangalore with only one flight a day. Good train service is available to Bangalore and Mysore, and bus service is available pretty much to every corner of the state and some big cities of the neighbouring states too like Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, tirupati, Chennai etc
