Reform UK will probably poll on par or higher than the Conservatives at some point before the election but will still struggle to get anyone elected says Adam Boulton on #timesradio

At the age of 73, I've seen some pretty awful governments come and go. The final couple of years of the last Labour government was pretty awful. However, nothing comes close to the incompetence and dissaray within the Tory administration since 2019. They are beyond awful.
The final couple of years of tte last labour government was the 2008 crash which would have been even worse under the Tories
Labour had us on the way to recovery from the crash. The Tories came in and deliberately shrunk the economy by cutting investment. Madness from which the country has never recovered
Remember, labour set the tories up to fail through Blair setting all this in action.
@@Tzhz This analysis makes no sense. It was a global crash. The economy was started to grow again until the tories came in and messed it up. Looked at some graphs about it.
@@davecross4493 Because? What kind of random comment is that? How would it have been under the Greens? Or Sinn Fein?
I am not just talking the talk I am walking the walk because I really really do want real change I am NOT a seesaw voter Labour Torie Labour Torie Labour Torie - I will be voting REFORM UK.
Sunak reminds me of someone who has been abusing a nice partner with bad behaviour for years and years. Then the partner after 14 years, says no enough is enough and I'm kicking you out. The abuser then promises to change and be a good person, " I'll do the laundry," = 8k more police. " I won't go out all the time with my mates" = I will cut tax. It's too little far too late mate you had your chance, now get your gear, and leave the key on the side, you wrongun
Yeah Reform will do all that great Tory stuff. There's a huge demand for it 😂
Good analogy. Everything he's pitching, I just want somebody to ask "you're in government. You've been in government for 14 years. Why haven't you done any of this? And why did you call such an early election when you could have implemented some of this before having to call the election."
He is an Indian imposter pm pretending to be English. Simple.
I wouldn't trust Richie further than I can walk to but common corner shop
This is an election that is anti Tory rather than pro Labour. People might regret this once Labour wins and we have things like Homes for Hamas and other extreme leftist policies.

I think reform might actually pass the tories in a couple of weeks when the electorate realise the tories are finished. 😊
Here's hoping
But you'll always have the mainstream media and people like Adam Bolton Subliminally Batting for them The Tories That is
There vote is too spread out and there a bunch of old angry white men anyway pretty narrow voter pool
They already know they're finished. It's just the majority of the electorate are moving left of the Tories not right.

Very Very MUCH So!!!!!!!
Have we factored in likelihood of actually going to vote? I think Reform supporters will be much more motivated to go and vote than undecided former Tory voters?
Given the Cons have been waving red meat to the nutters with Rwanda for a year that's no surprise but the gene pool for that sort of voter isn't very big
At least their vote share will produce near zero seats as it's spread out
Hoping so !!!
They seem to be running with the same strategy they had in London which was to run against a fictional Sadiq Khan rather than the genuine article. Did not end well.

Boulton has an arrogance that will trip him up.
I hope someone knows how funny that headline is to Americans.
I was asked who I would vote for, I said tory but I actually gonna vote reform instead.
🤑😆
The quality of English people has been on the decline in recent decades. That is why public representatives have been so poor. Narcissism and greed has poisoned the heart of the nation.
Remember Brexit the patriotic people kept quiet until the vote and Cameron was shocked with the result. Same with Reform, watch the Tories collapse and Reform surprise everybody.
The patriotic people? The ones who stripped the rights from my child? I look forward to these patriots never wielding any power again as the next generation rejects them utterly.
Which would be a reflection of how abysmally badly the Tories are doing more than anything else. Though the gap may grow, polling averages currently only have Reform and the Lib Dems two or three points apart. It's the Lib Dems that have rightly condemned the first past the post system but, for the first time ever, it will work in their favour this time round.
Hooray!
And we shall carry on regardless with our antiquated fptp system

There is something deeply insulting in all these last minute promises of handouts. It is like they are throwing handfuls of small change to a bunch of beggars and watching them scrabble in the gutter - on their way to a good restaurant lunch.

That is a nothing-burger, if it wasn't then they would have covered it already
Lol, yeah. The Cons and Liebour work for the multinational Globalists!
They are a business posing as some sort of political party. One of their defining traits is denial of objective reality.
Opinion polls in a voluntary voting system like Britain are notoriously unreliable when it comes to what voters DO rather than what they say. The salient lesson here, for the astute analyst, is that the conservative right base in the UK is hopelessly divided almost down the middle. No analyst doubts a Tory drubbing here, but this voting base split has catastrophic implications for the Conservatives (or/ and Reform) in opposition. Structurally, an opposition movement split down the middle has zero path back to government for a very, very long time. The conservative right are effectively locking themselves out of government.

Well Adam you would say that if reform overtake reform would you stop broadcasting
Best to play safe, I think. My vote is with Rishi. Rishi Sunak has done a good job on inflation, with the Bof Eng of course. Starmer is good at selling himself as a moderate socialist, but the mask is slipping. I don't want to see the Council Tax turned into a Wealth Tax. Remember 97, when Blair raided private pension funds just after he got in ? That was not in New Labour's manifesto in 97. And Starmer is a Blair disciple. Putting VAT on private schools is ideological hard-left. No thanks. Private schools free up places in the public sector. That's fair. We should have more private schools.
Inflation was handled by the bank of England not Rishi. He’s not even taking credit for it, it just happened under his tenure and he’s hoping people don’t do the research to see what a fraud he is.

According to IFS, our tax regime remains overly complex, the Tories reduced and then sharply increased corporation taxes, tax as a share of national income is as high as it was in 1948 and taxes now increasingly focus on the wealthy rather than middle class or lesser earners.
Not to defend the Tories, but if this is the best they can muster, I hope Labour or Reform have a better grasp of the situation.
I am in the highest tax bracket and earning less than what I was in 2018 and paying more tax. I can afford the extra tax burden on my income but I have no capital assets or savings as a result of the high income taxes here.

How far behind are you? Reform were breaking even at the back end of last week.
You can’t reform the ECHR without trashing the Good Friday agreement & the TCA!
@RuMixesButBetter You are misinformed. There are options with regard to the GFA - and the idea that the EU would bin the TCA because we left ECHR is for the birds. The EU itself has failed to join ECHR.
@@dogglebird4430 as it stands, it would trigger a review, which would cause massive tensions with NI, ROI & the USA. Also, leaving the ECHR is grounds for the EU to terminate the TCA. All this info is available online
@@RuMixesButBetter There are ways around it and the most obvious would be to agree a bilateral treaty with the RoI (as all cases involve them) stating that any cases brought under the provisions of the Belfast Agreement could still be adjudicated by ECHR and the UK would abide by their ruling. The court itself would have to agree to that - but why wouldn't it? Even if that didn't pan out - and there is no reason why it shouldn't - there are other ways around it. As for the TCA - the EU would be entitled to terminate it, but why would they if the UK had enacted a Bill of Rights dealing with the same issues? What would they gain from doing that? The TCA serves them very well. Besides, the EU is itself embarrassed by its own position on this as it has failed to comply with its own treaty obligation to accede to ECHR in spite of having 15 years to do so.
