Who would put "thumbs down" for this classic truckin' song? They might probably add a "thumbs up" for cRap/hip hop? Hope not! I hope that we can return to having real musicians playing real instruments, making popular music someday.
Never gets old Merle always has the feel amazing legend. Great guitar 🎸 player and singer. I'm still stuck on pretty much the old country. All the the old stuff if cut in half could knock the wind out of what country is called today. 🤔
Yeah, Movin' On was a great show, only lasted two years...darn it...Claude Akins and Frank Converse...both great in their roles. I am a late comer to the Merle fan club but better late than never...My God what a talented songwriter he was...one of a kind. My favorite of his is 'Here in Frisco'...brilliant IMO.
My uncle drove 20 years plus he went all accross the states plus Canada. He told me he didn't like going to Philadelphia. He thought it was the dirtiest city he had seen ...
My dad was a trucker, and that's one of those songs from my childhood that has always stuck with me. I was only 5 years old in 1975, but I remember it well.
Me too! Just started kindergarten, in the middle of nowhere in Pennsylvania. I miss the 70s SO damn much. We got to be kids at probably the best time in American history.
Loved this one Daniel Merle at his very best my Dad was a trucker all of his working life he died 13 years ago but hearing this one reminded me of when I was a kid riding with my dad in his big Rig during School holidays great song my friend thank you from Phil .
RIP Merle. A Catchy song for a 12 yr old when this song hit the charts in '75, and entertaining TV show too. During my 30 ft. Truck Driving yrs, I Always enjoyed listening to this song on my cell. Found the DVD TV show episodes too ten years ago on ioffer.
Nowadays this is playing on Finnish national radio channel (called Radio Nostalgia) and I've loved it. Keep listenin' again and again, while watching "Smokie & Bandit" movie truck scenes :) Sad to know he has passed away. R.i.p.
When I was in High School, (around 1980) I worked as a piano-demonstrator in a piano-organ store in the Mt. Shasta Mall, in Redding Ca. One afternoon, in walked Mr. Haggard, with his wife..I have to admit, I was more into Journey, Led Zepplin, etc. in those days, than Country..but I certainly was aware of who he was..a MAJOR celebrity..but he couldn't have been more friendly, easy-going, and non-prententious..just acted like a "regular guy" in a mall, on a weekend, with his wife! Anyway..after a few minutes of demonstrating a baby-grand piano for him..he bought it..and, all these years later; I will never forget, that the first commission check that I ever recieved..was from selling a piano to the late, great; Merle Haggard!!
how were you lucky enough to get to set in sonny's truck and where did you see it. I ask my grandparents to take me to Columbus kw, I got to see bj's kw but it was locked I couldn't get in it
Damn he had a great time singing that song...threw in some humorous accentuations...good for him. I thought his composition of 'Here in Frisco' was one for the ages...
R.I.P. Merle! An absolute perfect song for a wonderful show! LOVED that show! As a kid I drew picture after picture of the Big K-Whopper until my folks got tired of storing them! One of my Uncles was an OTR Trucker. He always Drove Peterbilt and IH. Did you know the ORIGINAL 1974 Kenworth W900 Double Sleeper tractor still exists? It has been faithfully Restored to it's original look in season 1
I like Merle Haggard when he sings that song Moving On It reminds me when I used to watch the movie it was a great movie Merle Haggard's a great singer make love bless you
This was my deceased older brother, Anthony Ingram favorite song by Merle Haggard. Also, he loved watching “Movin’ On’ with Claude Atkins & Frank Converse.
Every time I hear that song, I think about Sonny Pruitt's W900 Kenworth with the sleeper and the VIT interior pulling the Fruehauf trailer across America.
Man that Roy Nichols was a great guitar player!!! Always a treat to find a live performance of his. There's a live version of Workin' Man on here, where Roy is sitting in a chair wearing a leisure suit, while ripping out one of the greatest guitar solos I've ever heard - one which would make Jimmy Page proud.
Thank you Mr.Jack... I haven't read his book but I heard a little of his audio-biography and he was definitely a wild child!! I also learned that he and Waylon Jennings didn't like each other... I thought that was kind of interesting!.. I will look in on getting that book because Merle will always be one of my fav's of all time... Have a super good weekend my friend!! Daniel
Great share Daniel ...boy that was video'd a few years back lol... if you ever have the opportunity to purchase or borrow the book (Merle Haggard's life story)... make your hair curl...lol
Always loved this song !! Nothing like the songs of the 60s 70s and 80s !!

The guitar riffs in this song are seriously random. Love it!

Roy played so fine...was to Merle what Luther Perkins was to Johnny Cash...all of those fine intros and such.
Seems like one of the Osborne Brother singers during backing vocals, blonde gentleman.
Mike Broussard who was the lady back up singer ?
How many remember the show on tv that used this song
