I love how she silently told concubine Lin the reason why she did what she did, minglan finally found her peace, for her little mother and brother, for the only servant that was trusted. She did everything the way a noble matron would, silently and without dirty in her hands. Brava to Shen Ming Lan, marchioness of Ningyuan.
@@savannahshane2231 No, Danju had reached marrying age and there had already been discussion about her marriage. Xiaotao was the only one with her who had also served her mother, and she ended up with Shitou anyway, so there wouldn't have been any reason to send her away. Minglan trusted Danju with everything else because she trusted her grandmother. In this situation, she didn't want her grandmother to know, so she would have made things difficult for Danju by letting her in on her plans. It was more of a courtesy to Danju keeping her in the dark so that she didn't feel torn between two masters.
This is one of my all time favorite C-Dramas. The leading actress plays a smart, savvy, STRONG woman whom, with her silence and subtle behind-the-scenes machinations, survives the treacherous paths of communal households with very complicated and murderous rules and regulations. Bravo to MingLan for being better at playing their deadly games! Her Father is a stupid, turns-a-blind-eye to anything in his 'harem'. He is an ineffectual toad!
I think the dad really loved his vision of what that concubine was and just wanted her more then what was really going on. He just could not except how evil she was, when it was to late even then he still wanted to love her. Finding out all the evil she did all he wanted was that person he thought she was. To me I wonder why he married little mom it’s obvious he did not like her and wanted her to just go away I would argue he was relieved she died.
@@rachelcrawford1977 I believe Big Madam brought in Minglan's mother to offset the this concubines favor. Both wife and concubine were pregnant with daughters 4th and 5th when she brought him a young beautiful concubine with no family power.
Molan never knew the extent of what happened, and even if she knew her mother had killed Minglan's, she didn't know that Minglan knew about it until well after Molan had tried the same strategy on her husband's concubine. Molan never knew that it had been Minglan's plan to provoke her into the affair all along. The only thing she might have learned from this was what could happen if she tried to do the same with her own child, but 1) any of her children would be legitimate, so she probably wouldn't need to go to such lengths, and 2) her husband had her figured out by the end of the series and she still had no children. She may never have any of her own.
I love how she made sure that her [maternal] aunt got to see the revenge too...8:35 paying off the maids so they can ignore Concubine Lin is masterful.

Is this partly why she married Danju off but kept Xiaotao by her side?

It’s sad that even after all this her daughter didn’t learn from it

dumb husband ended up doing to the 1st & 3rd wifes what he claimed was done to his mother ...
One of the best scene.. very powerful one
Wonderful drama !
What does the painting she showed her mean? I know it has something to do with her Mom but I didn’t get the significance clearly.
What does the painting mean?
Doe and fawn- mother and daughter's bond
The painting was a gift from the 4th sister and so it was fitting that Minglan gave it back to the 4th sister’s mother
Oh thank you
Can you tell me the episode pleasw
