  • 'ASTRONAUT BAY' Intro, created using AI design and animation tools. A bit of a test to see how close we are to being able to make a children's animated TV series.

Amazing work! Funny how we both posted kids animation title sequences using Suno tracks in the past few days. Great minds! Love Suno’s latest model. A big step up from the previous version. Great to have found your Discord now too.

Excellent work! Really cool. I'm the co-creator of a children's show here on UA-cam going on 2 years. I utilize runway and midjourney for certain elements of the show which has helped with production quality and the speed at which I can produce content. It's been really great and love your content digging deep into new processes. But man, it's a very tough market and there's a lot more that goes into than CG animation (I know that you know this). If you can get reliable Dinosaurs (excluding a T-Rex) to work reliability and with *accuracy* I'd love to see this. Kids can be brutal if you get their favorite Dinosaur wrong :)

Thanks and thanks for posting. Really interesting to hear about your own show. Love to chat shop at some point. Yeah 100%, the above video was both an excuse to play with some image generations, try out some lip sync methods (not the best results) and explore some long-burning creative ideas. It's oddly a bit of light relief compared to the more traditional animation studio day job, or tweaking workflows with Comfy UI or coding my After effects plugin. I definitely think of the above as more of a draft proof of concept, that could potentially accompany a deeper pitch deck. It's good to go through the process and hit the challenges.
Arrr Consistency!... the big challenge of 2023... and 2024. Then include dinosaur animation (rather than bipedd) and a bet it's a right challenge. I've got some ideas to explore on what it would take to make work in better consistency for certain environments / characters without looking a bit rubbish and still getting some increased efficiency. We''l see.

The slow motion from Runway is a hindrance, you would have to be a master editor to make everything look appealing

      Yeah absolutely.
Speed ramping, reversing, slowing down only gets you so far. I'd have loved to include some faster animated action shots. (and 1000 other things on the wish list)
Looking forward to the next iteration of tools like Runway and access to the new Pika site.
Plus it's a big reason for trying out OpenPose rigs to help drive animation. Which is getting real good. (*I really need to finish the V1 of my OpenPose After Effects Plugin)

@@AIAnimationStudio I’m a 3D Technical Director, so hearing about OpenPose hasn’t given me hope of mixing the two to get speedy results.
Imagine only doing pose to pose step frames, and letting AI interpolate the in-between frames into something appealing. Or simply having more control over the camera animation. Or even doing quick particle effects work. This is what I’m waiting for. Then I’ll probably start doing freelance work full-time independently creating commercials, or trailers for book authors

@@tstone9151 . Yeah, of course, there's a definite appeal with the ease of things like Pika / Runway etc compared to more hands-on (less speedy) work. There are some cool things with OpenPose emerging though, with text being used to drive the animation. Which might arrive at what you've suggested. i.e. pose the rig, give it a prompt to get to another pose and prompt again. Also, check out Cascadeur (I've not myself yet) as it allows you to pose 3D characters and it uses AI to interpolate in-between the main poses in appealing ways, with realistic physics etc etc. So many tools... ... too many tools!
