Through out the year, MenaRD had multiple matches again both Punk and NuckleDu, either win or lose, those were very close matches, so I am not surprise with the result today. He really proved himself by beating Xian, Daigo (former EVO champs), Kazunoko (former Capcom champ), Itazan, Nemo who both have excellent performances today. Finally, he bested Tokido, who is considered the best Street Fighter 5 player at the moment. This is history, and well-deserved for MenaRD
That Set 1 comeback at 10:22 had me on the edge of my seat when I saw it on stream. I thought for sure Tokido had the tournament won. Crazy clutch play from Mena there.

Everyone "most" of the time usually looks like the characters they play. Example Murderface aka Tokido plays Akuma. Daigo looks like a generic good guy ala Ryu/Guile.

Tokido disappointed me in the 3rd match. he was 2-0, a couple hits aways from winning it and he ex wakeups them damn uppercuts. He lost the game there. Really wanted my demon to be and stay nr 1 this year. If he‘d played more like he did against punk.. And if he‘d rely less on demon flips and that 50/50 set up (which mena studied and guess what wasn‘t cought once) he would‘ve scared the shit out of mena. Props to mena though, in the end winning this stacked tournament and take the finals from tokido in losers is really something.

Well you have to hold a button, which means you need some planning and you lose that button while you plan for it, Birdie is not exactly a great player, playing Birdie against Guile is a nightmare and Mena managed to beat Daigo in that matchup.
Vance Du is an excellent player but you are talking about the most stacked tourney of the year, dude. To say anyone would have "easily" cracked top 8 is a bit of a stretch given the facts. This is all irrelevant, btw, because Du was also MIA. Its pointless to continue arguing woulda couldas.
A shame that Mena stopped the year of Tokido from happening. On the other hand, congrats Mena! A great player who has shown that the new generation of SF players are extremely strong.
Hands down one of the most hype SF tournaments ever. The grand finals alone ranks up there with Armada/Hungrybox at Evo 2016 as far as drama and comeback factor are concerned. But we had a LCQ winner finishing 3rd in the Capcom Cup itself, some insanely technical and exciting matches throughout (that Moke/Punk match!!), and a BIRDIE player from the Dominican Republic defeating the reigning Evo champ to win it all. And on top of all that, we learned we're getting Sakura and Sagat and Cody and Blanka next season. This gives me a lot of optimism for SFV in 2018, no doubt about it.

The amount of reversals in this finals, you could tell even Tokido was going on autopilot at times
A shame that Mena stopped the year of Tokido from happening. On the other hand, congrats Mena! A great player who has shown that the new generation of SF players are extremely strong.
and SFV is extremely random
Hands down one of the most hype SF tournaments ever. The grand finals alone ranks up there with Armada/Hungrybox at Evo 2016 as far as drama and comeback factor are concerned. But we had a LCQ winner finishing 3rd in the Capcom Cup itself, some insanely technical and exciting matches throughout (that Moke/Punk match!!), and a BIRDIE player from the Dominican Republic defeating the reigning Evo champ to win it all. And on top of all that, we learned we're getting Sakura and Sagat and Cody and Blanka next season.
This gives me a lot of optimism for SFV in 2018, no doubt about it.
