The interstage times (including the level completion melody) are: start screen to train: 15s train to forest: 13s forest to cave: 10s cave to fair: 16s fair to city: 17s city to subway: 12s subway to castle: 14s castle to launch: 10s the slot machine ending animation starts 3s before the timer stops That's ~110s total; depending on what you get from the cave bonus, this wasted time constitutes anywhere from 31% to 46% of the time allowed to complete the entire game. The consequence of lazy design isn't a negligible impact on playability and it deserves a hell of a lot more criticism than it gets. Dont know if someone already commented this but actually Todd Howard didnt even work for Bethesda when this game was released back in 1991. Todd joined bethesda in 1994 and the first time his name was ever mentioned in the credits of a video game was producer and designer of The Terminator: Future Shock, a DOS game released in 1995.
So in this game you play as Maldo (waldo's green brother) Waldo is very sick, the timer doesn't measure time, it's waldo's health. The plot consists about you following waldo to try and pick him up to take him to the hospital, but everytime you find him he escapes. The cave represents waldo's dark thoughts, he knows he's ill, and he actually wants to end it all, but sometimes thinking about it makes you get a bit of concern, that's why sometimes the clock gives you more health. The subway is a very hard scene, it's Waldo trying to end his life there, your mission is to pick him up, the wizard is waldo's mental illness trying to stop you from saving him. The ending of the game even if you win, is waldo finnally dying because of his illness, a very shocking metaphor if you ask me... I hope I have brought some light on whatever doubts you guys had. *EDIT:* Almost forgot, the glasses are just a way to express that helping waldo is pointless, you can put the glasses on him to cover the bad thoughts but it's not going to get any better in the end

What I was expecting was a podcast-like let’s play. What I got was a Swedish man slowly descending into madness
Hot tip: the secret to good home pizza is 100% a pizza oven. If you cant afford to build one you can buy an indoors one that basically looks like a giant aluminum brick.

I think this proves joel can stream literally anything and make it enjoyable to watch
I don't remember if I fell asleep to this stream or drifted to Binyot, but I didn't realize how bad the CBT was until he started shouting nej and vafan to the CBT Wizard
some say Joel now only see's Waldo's cold, dead stare every night when he tries to sleep since this stream.
Poor, poor Joel! Props to him, I can't make out the bloody sprites at all.
How he manages to find Waldo so quickly most of the time is uncanny.

This is actually a really clever game when you think about it. Sure it pulls old dirty tricks like other NES games like crippling substages but simply shuffling each tile for the main levels is pretty smart for replay value.
Get rid of CBT Wizard and the slot machine and you’d have as solid a Waldo game you can get on NES
