When I initially heard the clip of her saying that, I was like wait, what?... but then as she went on to explain, I was like ok, I get it. White folks aren't referred to by in large Caucasian/European Americans.. they're just considered Americans but if you're a minority there's always a hyphen in the middle. That's an unfortunate consequence about growing up in a white supremacist country. In a perfect world we wouldn't have to check a box, but we do for the purpose of research.
