Crying. I don't know how to summarize what I want to say. I grew up with pets & loved them beyond measure. But my mother was unable to care about them emotionally & my father just didn't like them. They had all of their physical needs met but having emotionally unavailable parents, I didn't know how to fulfill the emotional needs. I tried. I did my best. But I look back now and see how I failed them. I'm full of guilt. But I didn't know better. My heart hardened (though not fully) to the needs of animals. I adopted (unknowingly) my mothers dismissal of their needs. You, The Gentle Barn, have reignited my unbridled, unconditional love & empathy for ALL living creatures. It's been immensely healing & I'm truly grateful. Just a couple of years ago I would not have shed a tear for Lucy. Not because she wasn't worthy, but because my emotions were so shut down. I am so grateful to you ALL at The Gentle Barn for showing me how to feel again. It's not just about animals - it's also compassion for people. For my mother who was hurt in her own way. That was a big moment for me - realizing & accepting that. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 💜
I am so sad for Lucy. I am also amazed at this huge effort to help her. So much love.

I'm so sad with tears knowing that Lucy has passed away. She was such a gentle giant to my grand daughter who fell in love with her on first site. It was her first experience being around all the animals, and the one and only one that stoled her heart was Lucy, we have been wanting to go back and revisit her,but unfortunately we never had the time to do so when the barn was open on Sunday. Im not looking forward to have to give her the bad news. Just want to let you know that since that day we were there, I have a picture of my daughter and Lucy as my screen saver on my phone and iPad this was a year ago. One of my favorite pictures. I'm so sorry that lucy was not able to recover from her injuries. She will be missed by everyone and every animal who had the honor to be in her presence. A big thank you to lucy for her unconditional love that she has given to all of us...🐮💝thank you Gentle Barn for the loving and caring work that you for all of these amazing animals. We love each and everyone of you💕
