  • This is an installation video for our Bolt-On Prerunner Bumper for the 92-96 Ford Bronco and F150.
In this video, we’ll be installing the Desolate Motorsports Bolt-On Prerunner Bumper on a 92-96 Ford Bronco.
This bolt-on tube bumper is designed for all 92 to 96 Ford Broncos and will also fit F150’s of the same generation with an optional adapter bracket.
Here is everything you will need to complete the installation:
It also helps to have a second pair of hands to assist in removing the stock bumper, and installing your new bumper.
    Tools Required:
    Sawzall and extra blades
Grinder with flap disc or sander
    Drill with 1/2” Drill bit
    3/4” wrench
    3/4” socket wrench
    9/16” wrench
    9/16” socket wrench
    Clip puller
    Plastic Fastener Removal tool
    Rags or paper towels
    Parts cleaner
    Paint pen
    0:00 Intro
0:40 Step 1 Remove Plastic Clips:
Use a plastic fastener removal tool to unclip and remove the protective guard between the stock bumper and radiator.
0:56 Step 2 Remove Stock Bumper:
Have a friend brace the stock bumper as you loosen and remove the four nuts that hold the it in place. There are two nuts per side. Set the bumper aside once it’s removed.
1:19 Step 3 Remove Sway Bar:
If your stock sway bar is still installed, remove it by first disconnecting the end links from the beams, and then removing the mounts from the frame.
1:32 Step 4 Drill Sway Bar Mount:
Using a drill with a 1/2” drill bit, bore out the four factory holes where your sway bar was mounted to both frame rails. There are two holes per side.
    1:44 Step 5 Plastic Trim:
Remove the plastic fasteners holding the lower valence trim moldings in place, and remove the moldings from both sides the vehicle.
1:58 Step 6 Clean and Prep Frame:
Clean off any dirt or debris on the front of the frame rails to better draw your cut lines.
2:05 Step 7 Mark Cut Lines:
Using a paint pen, mark your cut lines on the frame rails. The cut line should run along the top of the forward-most ridge of the crumple zone on each frame rail. You can use a straight edge to continue your cut line down to the bottom of each frame rail.
2:19 Step 8 Trim Frame Rails:
Using a sawzall with a fresh blade, begin cutting the frame rail along your cut line. Be sure to start slow to get a groove going, and ensure you are cutting straight down the frame along your line. Repeat the process on the other frame rail.
2:39 Step 9 Clean Up Cuts:
Use a grinder or flap disc to grind down the exposed edge of your frame rails. Start slowly, and don’t remove too much material. We will be test-fitting the new bumper before determining if more grinding is necessary.
2:50 Step 10 Install Spacers for Test Fit:
Assemble the provided Grade 8 bolts, spacers, nuts, and washers onto the four TOP mounting holes on your new bumper. These will help keep the bumper in place as during our test-fit.
3:06 Step 11 Test Fit Bumper:
Getting some help from a friend, lift the new bumper into place, ensuring the spacers you pre-installed are sitting in the valley’s of your frame’s crumple zones.
You should not need to force the bumper onto the frame. Try hand-threading the lower four bolts, washers, nuts, and spacers through the new bumper.
If you cannot install these bolts by hand, you likely will need to grind down the end of the frame a bit more. We recommend that the ends of your frame rails should not contact the bumper mounting plate.
If necessary, remove the bumper from the vehicle and continue grinding and test-fitting until the lower bumper hardware can be threaded all the way through by hand.
3:59 Step 12 Bolt to Lower Sway Bar Mount:
With all eight bolts in place and hand tightened onto the frame crumple zones, install the four grade 8 bolts, washers, and nuts through the secondary mounting plates. These bolts will take place of your factory sway bar mounts.
    4:17 Step 13 Final Adjustments:
Now is the time to make any final small adjustments, before tightening all the bumper mounting hardware.
4:39 Step 14 Skid Plate Prep:
Remove the adhesive-backed skid plate protection film, and use a rag or towel with some parts cleaner to wipe off any remaining residue.
4:58 Step 15 Skid Plate Install:
Holding the skid plate in place, begin hand-threading the five sets of bolts, washers, and nuts that hold the skid plate to the bumper.
5:07 Step 16 Tighten Skid Plate:
Lastly, tighten all 5 of these bolts to secure the skid plate to the bumper.

So I’m assuming that you’d be able to go from 33 to 35s on it if I was to put on this front bumper?
