I watched all 8 of your videos on alarm system. I learned so much I can now go and fix my wiring problems. Can you believe the company I had upgraded something and then disconnected everything except my doors. I never double checked them. I found this out a year later. Since then they were bought out. There new tech doesn't know how to fix it. Just wants me to buy wireless connections. I sent him on his way. I have confidence to go and hook it back up correctly.

I’m glad you found it helpful. The more zones you have, the more you realize the need for a logical naming system. You can’t just call every zone “door” or “window.”
First - I just wanted to say thanks so much for all your detailed & very clear and easy to understand videos, as they have helped me a great deal after recently cutting ties and switching to self monitoring... :-) I'm driving myself crazy trying to program one of the function keys (A,B,C,D) on the HW 6160 Keypad to "arm instant" as an easier method than opening the door and pressing # 7. Also I noticed pressing function key B takes me right into *20 program mode - I think that would be a No No and should be changed, would you agree? Your help and reply would be greatly appreciated - Best Always.
Hello, I would agree that a function key entering into programming is bad. I would reset it back to normal. I have not worked with the function keys, but the following video at “fix it with Zim” does cover function keys. The video is ua-cam.com/video/9KudHshH-ZA/v-deo.html. I hope this helps.
