I’m retiring in two years and have every intention of leaving the US. I’ve lived a very stressful life and I’m looking for a safe place that is really laid back and stress free. I would prefer to move to a place with an LGBTQIA+ community because I will be moving alone and hope to build friendships in my new home. I've got a ton of questions, but I know you guys aren't teens yourselves 😉, and it doesn't look like you've got kids... Still, I'm going to throw my questions out there and hope you know some of the answers 😆I know a lot of expats are retirees -- are there any teens in the LGTBQ+ community in your area? Do you know if gender affirming care is available for teens locally? Also, have you gotten any sense of how accepting the local Instituto Internacional is of trans kids (both on the admin/teacher side and the other kids)? Thanks for any info you can share 🙂
We will ask around to see if we can find some information. We do have younger friends who might be able to shed some light on this. However, I do know some couples here personally who have trans kids - so there are definitely people here who are accepting and who have first hand experience in this area... however the kids dont live here. We will try to get some feedback on your specific question from others and add to the comments here.
We suggest you contact Mitsunari, the Director of Ajijic Cares. He does a lot of sex education for local students in the area and said you can reach out to him at ajijiccares2014@gmail.com. Hi there!! I'm so glad that you reached out!! I do know there are a few Transgendered people here in Ajijic, but I don't know if there is an 'active Trans' community. Being a smaller village, the lgbtqia community here is more all-encompassing than most bigger cities. I do know there is an active black women community here locally as well. Since PV is not too far, I would recommend you visit and get a feel for the community here.
