The boy is a genius with the pressure pads...😄The right way is to put the last two pressure pads on top of each other and put the 2 weight on top of that! But we'll let him have that...😅😅
Regarding Mumsey, she appeared on the Crystal Maze for the first two series and then left and was replaced by her sister, Auntie Sabrina (who was played by the same actress). Mumsey then came back for the fourth series (which this is part of) but left again the year after when Richard O'Brien left. And then to add to that, she came back for the 2016 charity special that led to the reboot but this time she was played by a different actress (and was explicitly not Stephen Merchant's mother either).
Yes! More classic Crystal Maze! This was one of the key shows from my childhood in the mid 90s. The reboot can't hold a candle to it, and I'm a fan of Aayode.
He's already seen the newer version would be nice for him to compare them all. It was Richard O'Brien that made the show entertaining or I'd have been forever stressed with shouting at the tv lol
You'll have to review a 90's episode when Ed Tudorpole was the host. And don't forget the later U.S. Crystal Maze, hosted by the superb Adam Conover !!!
Little Becky should have been the captain, she was the star of the show. Not only in playing her games, but with her all round spirit, energy and enthusiasm. A bit of research tells me she is now a doctor in Australia. It also says she is nicknamed The Pocket Rocket, and moves so fast she makes her colleagues dizzy, which seems 100 percent accurate after watching this show!
Hi Noah, I always enjoyed the original with Richard but once he left it was not the same to me. Great to see this Xmas version. The theme tune was an amazing part of the experience for me.
I remember recording this one the first time round as I was given my first video recorder as a Xmas present the year before, and I seem to recall that Avril and Becky kept being mixed up by their team mates (unless my memory is playing up). As for Knightmare, I and three mates, (Adam, Gavin and Mark) applied to be a Dungeonier and the advisers but the story I was told was that they didn't take kids from special schools, shame really. I often reminded Gav, Howsey and the Holybush about it but their memories turn out to be worse than mine.
@@Nige031077 I think I would have applied as well except my best friend at the time during school had a Game Gear which I spent my life on and at home we had an Amiga which I spent my childhood on before getting a pentium PC..

Hi Taffe316, you remember Michael Underwood, the last of the three hosts of Jungle Run? Well there's another Christmas Special from 1990 that he appeared on when he was 15. The official Crystal Maze UA-cam channel uploaded it 3 years ago but i think that you could react to it on the 20th of December for your Christmas reactions month if you wanted to.
It was all about Richard O’Brien’s charisma, the challenges themselves were never that interesting to me. I like Richard Ayoade but he’s better than Crystal Maze.
Watching the original series was a big family thing when I was a kid. The Christmas kids special was usually watched with my uncles and grandparents. Sad this year, as we lost 2 of them this year. 9:30 This zone always unnerved me. This game especially made me swear off ever wanting to apply for the kids special. Nope. 14:39 By the time she calls out the times on the desk I shouted "You haven't got time for that!", aptly enough. They would've been useless at Countdown... 16:40 Yes, Gladiators did do specials most years, usually with celebrities and/or sportspeople. Wolf would ham it up even more than usual, and it was great. It was a bit annoying in the early series because after the semi finals were done, they would stop to do the Christmas special and make us wait another week for the final. 17:15 So, that went well... 22:35 Yeah, I probably wouldn't have got on, now that I think about it. I wouldn't be good at encouragement, because these are strangers. The reboot would have been better, since you applied as a group, like the, um, "cosplayers". 27:10 The one we all wanted to play. Future. Well I did, anyway. 33:36 A bit of Professor Layton style outside the box stuff, there. 39:46 Yes, it's what I've been waiting for all episode. Couldn't play that to save my life, but hey. 47:34 Come on Becky- er, Avril- er, Michael... Ah, who cares, I'll not see you again anyway...
Back when meditation was seen as an eccentric thing. I know you did the Batman & Robin OFAH episode but there are 2 more in that Christmas trilogy that you haven't watched to my knowledge. MIght be worth considering Taffe mate.
Richard O’Brien was the original host, then there was another one (I don’t remember his name), then the reboot was Richard Ayoade. Edit: Ed Tudor Pole was the host after O’Brien.
There is a crystal maze in London (maybe Manchester too), i hope to do that again soon, great day out! Also, did anyone else go to PGL? We totally used to say it stood for ‘parents gets lost’ too! 😁😁
@@Live-by2vk 2 of my older brothers worked there after uni, then one went back about 20 years later as the MD. The show was following him going to work as a groupie for a week, back in 1999
You mention you previously uploaded this previously, etc.etc. That said it seems appropriate to say, "Let's do the time warp again" (I'm assuming you know who Richard O' Brian is, otherwise it makes no sense).
The theme tune of The Crystal Maze "Forcefield" is so good.
It's times like this I'm reminded how good the original theme tune was.
I didn't know the reboot had been cancelled either.
It didn't have the same production values, and it didn't use real members of the public, just dunderheaded celebrities, an obvious fail
Crazy to think that these kids will all be in their 40’s now 🤯 love the soundtrack / theme to this show
The boy is a genius with the pressure pads...😄The right way is to put the last two pressure pads on top of each other and put the 2 weight on top of that! But we'll let him have that...😅😅
Actually it was to the put metal stanchion across both pads and put the 2 on top of that. But yes, ingenuity at its best!
Its not the first time Richard has shouted 'in the mouth, in the mouth, in the mouth!!!'
I reckon....
Hey now

Michael: I'm Captain now.
Gladiators did do a few celebrity Christmas specials. Most are on UA-cam if you fancy for the future.
You should react to crystal maze when it was presented by Ed Tuderpole
O’Brien was just so much better tho

@@hannahstevenson27 Not to everyone. Don't get me wrong, Rick was an absolute legend, but I am definitely not the only person who prefers Ed.
soz but O'Brian was by far the BEST host, followed by Ed and we don't even talk about whatshisface.....

I still remember watching this as a child. Thanks for the good memories

This was the only kids team to ever win

Would live a Knightmare reaction. That show, along with Gamesmaster and Funhouse, was my childhood.
I actually did one, although it was a good couple years ago.

Mumsie only made a few sporadic appearances. It would be great if you could do Rocky Horror Picture Show (original) on 316 Reviews.

Gladiators had half a dozen xmas specials. mostly with celebs.
I can't wait for the Christmas commercials!

female clone #1 (blue) - fail
female clone #2 (yellow) - success
I had no idea that the reboot got cancelled. To be honest, I didn't really think much of it despite Ayoade being a decent host
It was all about Richard O’Brien’s charisma, the challenges themselves were never that interesting to me. I like Richard Ayoade but he’s better than Crystal Maze.
+Chris Duncan i prefer these original episodes from the 90s
These kids were all awesome. Sure, their teamwork was awful but some of them were very young.
Loved this program and fun house

If you're new to The Crystal Maze, it's usually intelligent adults, not children playing the puzzles!

The games were a bit rubbish tbh, but the allure of the show was Richard O'Briens interactions with the contestants.
