Your quilt turned out soooo cute! 🥰 I've never done one but maybe now I might try it! Thanks for the series! It was great to see start to finished top!
I loved the comments, they were very helpful and informative. I wish I could work on a quilt as quickly as you did. It was amazing, you gave me something to strive for. An assembly video would be a good idea. About batting, the seams of the tee-shirts might be uncomfortable and batting would lessen that.
I've been quilting for 30 years, so that helps! I also sped up areas of the video and cut out parts that are boring without being helpful. So, sometimes it looks faster than it is. 🥰
Thank you so much for sharing your video 😊 I am getting ready to make my second t-shirt quilt in just a few days.,and I wanted to do it without the strips in-between.,like the first one.Your version is so helpful.! I can't thank you enough .I will check back in when I am time to attach my backing ❤
Great videos. Think we need Part 4 to see how you assemble. Does it need batting. Know borders are a personal choice. Now I can start my project with more confidence. Thank you.
Totally enjoyed all 3 of your videos! I have been saving grandson's T-Shirts from High School and Creation Fest for 10+ years now until I found great instructions for me to be ready to cut and sew them into a quilt. As you said, they are one of a kind and cannot be replaced or duplicated at this point in life. I had thought flannel for in between but so thankful you said batting as it does get colder here in Northwestern PA. If you recommend something specific for it, could you please suggest or at lest mention what you use. I know you cannot not endorse anything in particular but there are many quilting this is still am totally clueless as to what to use. Again, thank you so much for a wonderful tutorial on T-Shirt Quilts! Darlene
So glad it was helpful! And I can totally endorse and promote the brands and companies that I love! I don't currently have any partnership with a batting company, and I'm not super knowledgeable about batting. You can always check with your local quilt shop for batting recommendations. An 80/20 (blend of cotton and polyester) is a popular choice. Blends the benefits of both. I tend to use 100% cotton, though I do get bigger creases when storing my quilts. I'm allergic to wool batting. I have heard great things about it, though! The biggest tip with batting is to read the package on how close the stitching needs to be. If you have 12" squares, but the batting package says stitch every 8", then you can't just stitch in the ditch on your quilt. You'll have to stitch in the blocks somewhere as well. And that may influence your design.
Yes, it is usable. I covered it with individual rhinestones, and it took a LONG time. The bed of the machine is smooth. Paint, then glitter paint, then shellac to make it smooth so I can sew on it. 🥰

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the series! And it is really simple to make a quilt like this! 🥰

I finish it just like any other quilt - batting and backing, quilt and bind. I didn't record that process on this quilt (sorry!)...

You talked about your machine
I'm curious about the one in the background. Is it usable and how did you decorate it?
