About Dune:
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, “Dune” tells the story of Paul Atreides, a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence-a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential-only those who can conquer their fear will survive.

Seeing the spaceships in this film, an absolute jaw dropping experience. The artists ability to portray their gargantuan structures was perfectly matched by the music.
When that tiny ball comes out the carrier and that ball turns out to be a huge spaceship and your mind is just like “woah, how big is the carrier”
And also when the carrier floats above the planet and they can see from the surface like a moon!
@@leewolf6434 this is the best thing I like about this movie, next to the story, battles and politics (which are scaringly similar to the modern geopolitics), the fact that everything is minimalist yet so large it will trigger megalophobia. Not just the big carrier ship, but the sandworms, which are mythical creatures worshipped by natives its feats. This pairs very well with the lighting. I knew that they were going to win many Oscars, one of them being for the visuals, and lighting.
The moment the first scene played in front of my eyes, I knew this would be different in terms of visuals. As a movie nerd, the visuals of this movie was eye-candy to me. The lighting, the harsh contrast between light and dark, the edge-lighting, all of it was absolutely magnificent. It is a movie made with technology from the earth and yet I couldn't put my finger on why it looked so different. Ultimately it was captured on a camera. I still cant put my finger on why it looks so different compared to other movies. It looks so different compared to other movies but so similar compared to video games. The visuals of this movie gave me the feeling that I was watching a 2.5 hour long cut-scene from a hyper-realistic video game.
2 more movies come to mind talking about amazing visuals. Arrival and Annihilation. But those movies still feel like movies. This one just doesn't. I don't know why and I love it.

I'm a massive Tolkien fan, read everything he wrote. But FH is a better writer, and Dune is way more epic than ME.
The first trailer with Eclipse by Pink Floyd had me hooked. I decided to read the book. I liked it. I was honestly upset by the ending in part one because I expected them to make it much further than that. I guess I got lost in the time and didn’t realize it was almost over.
But now that part 2 has been announced, I’ll say it’s definitely the closest thing to a masterpiece we have seen in this genre for awhile. Still don’t think it’s a masterpiece, it skips a lot from the book and what I consider to be key lore details and secondary plots as well that make the characters more endearing and interesting.

Just a late thought I’d like to add: I have been a lifetime Star Wars fan. I grew up wearing out our VHS copies of the OT and making my parents buy new ones (as they could, big family with lots of kids) with each new release on tape of the OT.
As I was reading Dune, I kept saying to myself “George, you really pulled from more than just Flash Gordon serials and The Hidden Fortress.”
So much of Dune felt like it was a trailblazer for that sort of material to be accepted by a more general audience.
Having read Dune has me interested in more science fiction that was created prior to George Lucas making Star Wars in ‘77.
I currently have Dune: Messiah and Issac Asimov’s Foundation waiting on my bookshelf.

Breath-taking song. Had the privilege to watch Hans Zimmer perform this song with orchestra in Antwerp in April. 2 months later and still magical as ever.
I hope u enjoyed it. Not all of us have the same luck👍
The perfect director, the perfect cast, the perfect composer .... this movie is gonna be a masterpiece! I've goosebumps right now 😍😍😍😍 Hearing this is like to walk on a sand and spice planet .... I can feel the cinnamon smell of the spice 😍
Indeed.
Just watch out for the worms!
The spice is not actually cinnamon flavored, but rather it takes on the flavor of something you like. It has a different flavor each time and for every person, which your brain interprets as pleasant.
@@matiasbascunan8051 wow , I thought it was cinnamon like Paul describes it. This makes it the most addicting substance ever…
love the little guy walking to nowhere in the background
Indeed.
Is that Paul?
@@Nicholas_Chen_ Could be Kynes.
Without rhythm...
@@allthingsnerd.4484 hopefully, could be Kynes though...

This score is a perfect fit for the almost hypnotic quality of Paul's premonitions. I can't think of a more mesmerizing piece of Hans Zimmer's music. Literally his most spectacular accomplishment ever.
Wow! Hans really knows how to continuously build epicness through a song.
the GOAT
The one and only Legend Hans Zimmer
I'm so happy that Hans Zimmer got to score his dream movie! So far, this score is PHENOMENAL!!! It's so beautiful and very mystical sounding!
And he got Lisa Gerrard to sing this bone chilling part of the track!
Dreams are messages from the deep
Hans Zimmer is a jeniuous! I wish Diana Ankudinova's singing of it was here. She sang it just recently, and it sounds so much more powerful!
Hans Zimmer: I'm the Protagonist of this operation!
Indeed.
But he didn't parttake in operation of protagonist

This OST got me more hyped for this movie than any trailer
Went to a Hans Zimmer concert a year or so back. It opened with 4:48 and you could see the jaws dropping throughout the audience. Imagine utter silence and then this scream
Whoa
This movie feels so grand in its entirety that I can personally feel what's at stake. The musical score is so perfectly fitting that I get goosebumps.
You can feel the spice flowing.
Listened to this so many times. Gets better with every listen. Brooding and intensely Eastern. Can't wait for this.
I absolutely LOVED this movie. The cinematography was beautiful, and so was the music.
That little bit of electric guitar still keeps that classic 1980s Dune feel to it.
This is only dream sequence music...wait till we get massive battles, betrayal, and prophecy!
It's just amazing, the fact that the voices whispering in the song have such a strong connection to the plots and plans that are being put together in the film. Hans Zimmer is great!!
This was literally one of the best movies I’ve ever seen
Next level. A totally magnificent score and film. The sheer power of the female vocals really blew me away. Perfect.
