The only difference that I saw was those punt/passes that Russ threw. Fields tends to throw low flying rockets. When Fields learns to settle down he'll have the chance to be really special.

Difference is a lot more then that, on how he ran the offense no false starts, his cadences where on point, his Pocket awareness and simply has beautiful touch. Yes he under through balls, but that was shaking off the rust, he just looks like a solid nfl qb,

DK, I admit that I was and still am a big supporter of J. Fields. I too feel like he would progress better with actual starting reps but don't you feel like seeing Russ perform at a high level and operating the offense as he did in the Jets game gives Fields more information to grow too? I would imagine him just sitting in the film room with Russ watching that game has to be valuable.

The one that sticks out to me about Russ is his experience on how he handles the offense at the LINE OF SCRIMMAGE.reading the defense and making the adjustments and also how smooth he does the play-action pass it's an advantage he brings compared to Justin which he might be able to learn because of the age difference between the 2 i hope he does so he can become the Steelers franchise qb for years to come.

  • @john670

I think Fields can learn a lot from watching how Russ prepares each week, how he communicates with the team, making changes at the line, etc. As you said, Fields has always been the guy. I think learning from someone of Russ' caliber is the missing piece in his development.

GM DK . When we're yelling "Oh what a great catch " that usually means it wasnt the greatest throw, not always but usually. The GP helment catch wasn't drawn up that way , a well placed ball and he scores on that one. It was a very exciting win. And Russ showed he's been playing much longer than JF , and he's willing to take chances that maybe JF isn't yet, or being coached not to take that chance?? Like Ben, that man never met a throw he thought he couldn't make, and usually he was right, but not always. Russ hadn't played in some time, so there's that , but it definitely wasn't error free , as some are acting . But still the right call by Coach T , for the NOW

From the start of the season I thought that Fields was the long term plan, even if he didn't play a snap this season. I also thought that Wilson was basically auditioning for his next job; if he balled out, someone would throw un-Steeler-like money at him; if he was mediocre, the Steelers might offer him a modest contract, but no way were they investing 50-60M/yr in a 37yo QB. I have seen nothing to date that makes me change my mind: I still think Fields is the future and Wilson will likely be playing elsewhere next season and handsomely compensated for it.

This was the video I have been waiting for... Talk about these lineman... I have always thought, going back to 2 seasons again that Dan Moore was a B- guy... That's not bad, it's not GREAT, but it's ok, and right now, we are loving that B- because it has been consistent. McCormick, McCormick...man, give that guys another season and we have potentially a great STEELERS lineman in Mason. I mean that guy has a v12 in his chest the way he just goes and goes and goes... Great video today DK

Honestly, the future the interior of this o-line looks hella bright with Daniel’s, McCormick, Frazier, and McCollum. Just need to finalize this tackle situation. Dan’s been playing above board but we still don’t know completely what Troy’s got. Also Brod’s shockingly disappointing sophomore year. But if we can get that squared stay, we have a top 10 to top 8 oline heading into next year😄

Fields was born with God given talent that is matched or exceeded by few others. He has always been able to get by based upon his talent. He has yet to learn the intricacies of playing the most difficult position in all of sports. Is he capable? That is the 50 million dollar question.

If Russell Wilson plays the rest of the season with the same point production and leadership skills he exhibited in the Jets game, then Mike Tomlin has a unique problem on his hands. Wilson will probably want lots more money to come back to the Steelers for, and that's assuming that the Steelers think that Wilson has a few more years to play at the current talent level. Then what to do with Justin Fields, who might develop into a monster talent, or not? If all this transpires, it's a good problem to have, but dicey. Good luck, Coach.

Four years in Chicago no progress you’re going to obviously blame that on the Chicago Bears. But at some point in time, there has to be something to say about Justin Field inability to process what he sees in the passing game. DK every time you talk about fields all you talk about is his legs and his dynamic. The only thing dynamic about him is his legs. His position is quarterback, and when you’re worse at throwing , then Lamar Jackson, we have issues. I love fields and all very athletic. But his position is quarterback and he does not throw that ball very well. Does he have a strong arm? Yes, can he throw a deep ball? Yes, is he accurate on mid range and long range throws? No. There is your problem. Another great show, but sooner or later you’re gonna have to let this Justin Field thing go, you are just causing yourself heartache. More or less Justin Fields is Kenny Pickett with better legs.

  • @mikebogush6437

Maybe put him in once in awhile near the goal line, especially if there r red zone problems with Russ, but if DK was suggesting Fields should come in all the time near the goal line and take Russ out, I would respectfully disagree.

RW looks more like the TYPE of QB that the Steelers need, unless JF can show to be more decisive. He has DIGRESSED. Waiting for people to get open, and when it doesn’t happen, uses his LEGS to make up for what he’s NOT seeing on the field.

Pump the brakes on R.Wilson. We still gotta see him stack a few games together. He had a sub-par 1st half and he got bailed out on a few throws by his boys. He definitely has a more calming presence when he’s running the offence than fields.

Lets see what happens after the giants with much harder teams because the oline and reciever did justin no favors.
How do you expect any momentum when 77 for the most part is getting flagged to remove 30 yrd gains or 14 19 ect dropping g the balls when you needs those yards to keep drives going or those fumbles from gp.
So when russ has to deal with those same issues and still win ill be more impressed.

I disagree. He's a great athlete, not a QB. That has been the problem with him for some of us who has been waiting for Wilson to start. We all like Fields, but he can't read the field, meaning defense, can't find the open receivers, takes sacks etc. Wilson does all that. You see how well he did in the second half of that game after he settled down his nerves
