It's amazing to me how this show could throw a restaurant set together so easily --- just a wall, a few pictures, a booth, a table or a lunch counter. It probably didn't take them an hour to build the set where Gavin & Calvin are eating, but it makes it look as though they're in a large city where everyone doesn't frequent the same two restaurants (like on today's soaps).
One of several things that have gone wrong in soaps recently is that the sets now are so cheaply made. The sets in these scenes, the Karr house, the Scott penthouse, etc. were much better designed and decorated than sets are now. The sets in 1980 look absolutely gorgeous.
starting in the mid-late 90s, budgets were being cut left and right..so all those sprawling mansions and the like became a thing of the past..most homes, nowadays, are limited to one or two rooms..on ATWT, I remember Lily and Holden's first home..then they were in something, by comparison, that looked like a cottage and any number of other characters appeared to be ''homeless'', with their presence limited to 'outside' scenes or scenes in someone else's location........
The nicest house ive ever seen daytime or nightime is the capwells house on santa barbara the first set when show started...they later redid it....stunning!!!
I liked Gavin and Martine together. I thought they were interesting together. A lot more interesting together than Gavin and Jody were. I don't know why the show just abandoned that love story.
one of the biggest mistakes, IMHO, was setting Jody Travis up as the next Laura (GH)..THREE lovers-on-the-run stories, with the first two for the same reason, in an attempt to snag the GH audience..seems like Jody, Kelly, Gavin and the dance studio was to that end..didn't work, with viewers and affiliates continuing to defect until the show's eventual demise........

a small corner in the studio with close-ups of those in such scenes.......

Sonia Petrovna, so gorgeous as Martine Duvall!
she really is a French dancer. I looked her up. I wasn't sure back in 1980.
Thanks for the Upload 👍 !! Love the ending !! Xd

Martine’s husband Collier Welles came to Monticello in 1981, and eventually she left Monticello with him.
