Gosh can’t believe it’s the end of an era. The krokoa era is what got me back into comics after taking a 3 year break from reading anything. But it’s time to move onto something new and I’m excited for what’s to come. At least we kind of have a guarantee from Marvel that we’ll revisit krokoa again in the future. And I can’t wait to see how mutants evolve.
She just wants to live without the pressure of doing a change in the world of mutantkind, to live a good life and die to end in “the next plane”. In house of x 2 we learned that her first life was a good life, a calm life, that is what she wants
@@midas5668I think your comment fixed an issue I’ve been having with how the X writers have been trying to paint her motivations. Destiny said to raven that enigma is in his death point forever not dying and that makes me think that when jean was killing him, as he said he wants to hide, maybe he was teleporting through every time so maybe at some point, jean returned as for her died but he is still dying in every timelines as he is death outside time.
It's a bit of Schrodinger's Cat. Him being non-linear, alive when he went to all of these times, and now dying in all of them, from the point of view of a linear being on date 20XX we'd "see" Enigma alive and dying, if we could perceive him. His death would be another point in time or outside of it (or technically also the same point of 20XX or 18XX or whenever) along with when he was alive and dying, which puts him in this constantly dying Quantum state.
The threat that's been directly built up for about 2 years, was claimed to be the hottest shit around by far, was retconned to be the reason behind Hickman's Secret Wars as the Beyonders _wiped out the Multiverse just so it doesn't come to fruition_ ends up being dealt with in a single issue by the Phoenix, an entity that was previously unable to stop the Beyonders from wiping out the Multiverse. The concept of setup and payoff looks upon this in disbelief.
Def going be examining those Phoenix panels later to see how many Phoenix empowered obscure and Variants of X-People I can spot. Already spotted Jimmy Hudson, Ultimate Son of Ultimate Wolverine, a Phoenix of either X1 Toad or Evolution Toad, Wild Child, daughter of Elektra and Wolverine from original May “Mayday” Parker’s “MC2” universe, the entire “Exiles” part of the cast of Sabertooth and the Exiles, various Mutants from Arakko, and the Nightcrawler/Wolverine hybrid clone from Nightcrawler’s. Luciano Vecchio must have either had the time of his life those panels, or nearly killed himself drawing all that.
As an end to the Krakoan Era it felt a little lacklustre for me personally, similarly to the Sabretooth War ending, though I did enjoy certain aspects of it. For me my biggest gripes would be how the character of Enigma felt rushed and wasted particularly given the build up of the character in a Defenders Beyond as well as the fact that Moria was given a happy ending even after everything she did in everyone of her lives
Again, Stephanie Phillips (actual Phoenix writer) getting confused for Stephanie Williams. 😅 A Mandela Effect was happening when Enigma tried to change the events of Blerdkoa. 😂 Aside from that, I have to wonder about Jordan White’s comments about Sinister not being the original villain for the Krakoa era, and maybe we would’ve seen Doug or Destiny as the villain, but Doug would’ve handled this more carefully as a turned villain, since the Phalanx Dominions would’ve been under his control instead of Enigma (the original Nathaniel Essex). And every action that he did throughout the era was a sure sign that he was planned alongside the New Mutants with a proper handling by Hickman, along with the spinoff that never got its chance for Sam and Roberto. As well as Namor and Franklin Richards. That said, we would’ve seen a different 11th life with Moira being a part of Destiny and Mystique’s plans.
I’m not a comic reader but I love the characters and stories and thanks to Blerd and a few others I’ve been on this Krakoa ride since it’s beginning so this is kind of crazy this story has finally ended. That said, I feel like this story got away from what it originally was or could have been. Idk just seems so… so… blah 😒 😕😑🤷🏾♂️
Great breakdown as always! I would say that Moira in this issue was written out of character for how she’s been since X deaths of wolverine, but that’s also because THAT was a huge out of character drastic change. I think in this issue, she was much closer to the nuanced antagonist she was probably supposed to have been under Hickman’s direction. So personally I’m good with it and her ending. It’s as good as we could have gotten. She’s back in the toy box now and a future writer down the line could do something with either Phoenix timeline Moira or something else. I hope for no more one dimensional villainy from her. I actually hope we don’t see her for a long while, but when we do, that she chose to live her 11th life either in peace or even to do some good like she used to.
I'm new to Al Ewing relatively speaking so I definitely need to read more to get these references but I have absolutely loved what I've read (it helps I've been a massive Magneto fan for decades and I really felt he got Magneto)
Oh and I had no idea about any of the Tiger stuff. Thanks for the info! As an almost exclusive X-Men reader (and the old school Daughters of the Dragon lol) should I get Ewing Defenders?
If she was able to tap into the abilities of all the mutants absorbed then she's literally unstoppable even using vulcan's energy absorption, Synch's power mimicry (which gives her all of dominions powers thanks to his power up) tbh if only she had Darwin she'd gain whatever ability she needed to match, react & beat him), Fabian Cortez (boost her powers to unprecedented levels w/o dying thanx to Phoenix) & so much more
The way Kieron and Al all of a sudden have to make all the Phoenix stuff make sense even though Jean didn't get to have her real final act is tremendous. Time will only tell if I'm satisfied.. I'm actually largely happy for the status quo shift 100%. Since it's not a true ending..
Sinister’s role as 4 clones with card suit symbols on their forehead was unequivocally bad. It was MHA AFO, Star Wars Palapatine root of all evil nonsense. Good writing weaves together stories about a variety of challenges and characters that force protagonists to work together and overcome a variety of diverse challenges. Bad writing hangs that tapestry on one hook to make a bad guy you can punch with Deus ex Phoenix. The Krakoan era was a wildly imaginative and interesting start that devolved into a greatest hits wankfest. Looking forward to the next thing.
In another piece of the wrap up, all the mutant souls from the Waiting Room migrated to the border of the White Hot Room, so I guess the Sacred 4 (formerly The 5) will potentially be spawning them back to life in New Krakoa too (if they're aware of them) for a population of millions eventually.
For now their last use was [many of them] following Apocalypse to Earth to take the fight to Orchis. For now they are still alive and well (aside from a few that sacrificed themselves to feed Krakoa Prime).
I liked it but feel some else may still try use broken pieces of enigma to do something else later on regardless of warning the Phoenix put out there about messing with things.
The issue was good but feel that a lot of the fall of x mini series didn't lead to anything. I hope that some cliff hangers from those series don't just get reckon by from the ashes.
Nice "big finale" ending to wrap it all up. Fully enjoyed it, but it was pretty much the bow on the present we all came to expect by now because of the knowledge the era was in full wrap up mode. The only better bow would have been to also have Xavier holding the minds of all the people he killed for Orchis in the hopes of one day bringing them back to somehow right his wrongs (in another world, maybe thats what he was doing prior to turning himself in).
I'm still having reading all of it, but the last panel of Moira thinking she is free when she doesn't become a mutant might be premature. She was already born with the knowledge of the other lives, she was already able to use that higher knowledge previously and have an idea of things to come. She might not be a mutant but she knows what they are plus, how the X-gene works if she was able to end if previously. This might be one of those other worlds/dimensions that the Watcher probably views and such. Would that mean, she wouldn't be involved with Charles in this next life, only the Watcher might know. I suspected that Charles earlier action was the step that he was hoping for, which, really seems to be the help that Jean needed to end Enigma. Dr. Stasis is gone, so is Mother Righteous for now. Sinister and Orbis Stellaris is still alive, which are unknown actors for another story line of either trying to accomplish another Dominion. We'll have to see.
The end of Krakoa Era came too late, in my opinion. Never bought that nonsense of "Resurrection Protocols". Seeing infection bag Wolverine jumping around and going face to face with Sabretooth using that extremely heavy adamantium suit was ridiculous, just to see in the very end the writer stating the suit was restoring Wolverine's healing factor did not help at all. Writers have been getting way too much independence for a long time. No respect for characters' histories, powers, personalities. Kid Omega going down so easily, going around (head in a box) and dying in the end was sickening stupid.
Yes, it was rushed. Did I want MOAR? Yes. Moar Phoenix! More references to Defenders Beyond, and how Enigma was a threat to Eternity. Moar. What is Rachael's relationship to the Phoenix now? Is Hope even an entity anymore? Clarify Moira! I want today! I want to tomorrow! (sings the Veruca Salt song from Willy Wonka) But all of that being said... I loved it. Except Phoenix Wolverine claws... I would have preferred something something specific to the the Phoenix and not more "Wolverine is everywhere"... Now, bring on the Phoenix ongoing and I hope for a trial / gathering ala "Warlock and the Infinity Watch #1", but with the Phoenix and much exposition on whose doing who and whose being true and who don't even care anymore... wait, that's a different song... Moar!
im so lost with xmen krakoa age. what happened to the accelerated humans from the vaults etc are they a new superpower on earth? so all the mutants arent on earth anymore? so lost
I think Marvel can't let the X-Men or any big IP get to far out of the established status quo. If you notice, damn near every tv show, movie, book, or comic franchise/IP that shows the possibility of a truly better world, particularly ones where capitalism isn't the ruler of all, are either reset back to status quo or ended abruptly! Look into why HBO cancelled Lovecraft Country. Why Marvel and DC alway have world altering events, but the change never lasts.
All the mutant being in the White Hot Room is a horrible ideal. All that says to me is lazy writers. As much as I love Jean being Phoenix, she was better without it. It gave her character more depth. The problem is that these writers are not X-Men or Fantastic Four fans. Their all huge Avengers fans. Kevin really needs huge fans of all three, not just the Avengers. Every time they do stories that end like this means, "We don't know what to do with they so let's stick them here." They took another special thing and made it for everyone the White Hot room was and should still be for the Phoenix only. But, like Phoenix, they give it to everyone. Just lazy writing and no true thinking on the writer's party.
It's a symbol of rebirth so it's always brand new. Enigma is the Most generic And laments xmen Villains ever. All the comics say he's that powerful and totally unstoppable but he's really just a guy with powers and is just a total let down. He got one shot by the Phoenix and Jean anyways he stinks. I think the final is shoot to wrap up Any loose ends would be gingerbread get her revenge Mother righteous for try to kill her.
I thought Professor X was Inmate X too, but if you read the free comic book day issue, it was HEAVILY implied that Inmate X was a female redhead, so either Jean Grey or Hope Summers, so…. Which one is correct?
That was Siryn, and she and I think the Blob were just other inmates. There was also an Inmate X from the high security prison that we did not get to see on panel
My only critique is that the Phoenix already had a polar opposite the FIRST FALLEN. So why bring the Tiger back into the fold. The First Fallen is the polar opposite of the Phoenix. It's like they haven't read their own comicbook history.
I explain to you the Tiger God is an aspect of the phoenix, it was created when the first fear of humanity existed, they are rivals in Faith in the concept of light and darkness, but the phoenix is more powerful, He has already defeated him twice and another proof is that he lives within the WHR so it is nothing more than an aspect. Now they mentioned it because the phoenix when the Tiger died was free making chaos, Jean alone put him in his place
… I don’t know how I feel about some god damn tiger bring the equivalent to the Phoenix Force. Especially considering White Tiger is like a street level character, right? They just making shit up.
The tiger God is only an equal towards the aspect of Phoenix that governs fire/light. The Phoenix governs alot of things hence why it has so many opposing forces. Goblin force, tiger God etc
I really wanna what know was Hickman plot cause moving the entire mutant race of the table by just by putting them in the white hot room is super lazy And Rasputin better be in the new era smh lol
Am so tired of stans saying jean made the phoenix, the Phoenix and jean is like raava and korra, they sre two separate beings. Yhe Phoenix found jesn in space where she nedded help cause jean was dying and it gave a her a choice to be its host and jean agreed, making jean the prime host of the phoenix of earth 616, jean isnt the phoenix force just the vessel connected to it since they fused.
Nah. It's been confirmed by Jean and by the writers themselves on multiple different instances for the last 2 years now. "There's no bird without me, and there's no me without the bird" - Jean herself lmao. It literally NEEDS her. Even if you don't agree with the past statements that further confirm that Jean and the Phoenix are one, she literally just recently rebirthed the Phoenix by recollecting all of its fragments. It literally refers to her as, "mother-me" she is no longer a host nor a vessel, she herself is a cosmic entity now and forever and as much as I'm meh on that idea, as long as the phoenix never EVER gets used by anyone else, I'm good with that decision.
Plus, last time they got married, Mystique was using the alias Eric Raven… who might’ve also been Sherlock Holmes. So, this time around, it’s them marrying each other as they are.
Thank God it was my least favorite X-Men storyline since I was 8 years old and I'm 50. I hated what they did with the characters I hated what they did with Charles Xavier awful
I dont like Enigma being beaten by the Pheonix. Its Marvel's version of Wonder Woman killing The Darkest Knight. Its nonsensical. Emigma shouldve remained unbeatable

It was a great ending to another era of X-Men! Can't wait for the new one to begin.
I'm new to Al Ewing relatively speaking so I definitely need to read more to get these references but I have absolutely loved what I've read (it helps I've been a massive Magneto fan for decades and I really felt he got Magneto)
lol "he on some Drake'ish", Mr. Sinister's whole comic history in 4 words.
Isn’t that five words?
this book was so pretty. the colors were pure CMYK vibration
Really nice thoughts my brother. Your thoughts about Moira feel spot on.
Thanks for all your great content. 🙏🏾
I saw Jimmy Hudson, keeping dangling him. loved that part.
Oh and I had no idea about any of the Tiger stuff. Thanks for the info! As an almost exclusive X-Men reader (and the old school Daughters of the Dragon lol) should I get Ewing Defenders?
I haven't read too much Ewing stuff, but what I have has been really, really good. If you like the Defenders then I'm sure Ewing won't let you down.
@Blerdwithoutfear I still think sinister is prisoner x and Charles is the one in the cruthes going by a different identity to keep wraps on sinister
If she was able to tap into the abilities of all the mutants absorbed then she's literally unstoppable even using vulcan's energy absorption, Synch's power mimicry (which gives her all of dominions powers thanks to his power up) tbh if only she had Darwin she'd gain whatever ability she needed to match, react & beat him), Fabian Cortez (boost her powers to unprecedented levels w/o dying thanx to Phoenix) & so much more
wait, were those characters in the white hot room?
The way Kieron and Al all of a sudden have to make all the Phoenix stuff make sense even though Jean didn't get to have her real final act is tremendous.
Time will only tell if I'm satisfied.. I'm actually largely happy for the status quo shift 100%. Since it's not a true ending..
So Moira is saying she wants to end the psychological torment brought onto her as a side effect of her powers.
This was a great video! I couldn’t wait to hear your thoughts 🎉🎉
Jean Grey Phoenix in all her glory!!!
I don’t recall them saying what the status of the mutants on “Mars” was. Was it mentioned in another book or am I just brainfogging
For now their last use was [many of them] following Apocalypse to Earth to take the fight to Orchis. For now they are still alive and well (aside from a few that sacrificed themselves to feed Krakoa Prime).
I love your commentary! Dukeroo 😅😅😅
Man.. I have a feeling… when pheonix dies all her dead X-men become zombies and she unleashes the next Halloweenen event
Every time I hear Kieran Gillan's name in an American accent. I think Nebula has gotten into comic writing.
While I'm used to Marvel fumbling the landing of these big arcs, the end of krakoa era ending seriously fizzled out hard.
Wait doesn't T'Challa still have the tiger god in his possession?
Nice "big finale" ending to wrap it all up. Fully enjoyed it, but it was pretty much the bow on the present we all came to expect by now because of the knowledge the era was in full wrap up mode.
The only better bow would have been to also have Xavier holding the minds of all the people he killed for Orchis in the hopes of one day bringing them back to somehow right his wrongs (in another world, maybe thats what he was doing prior to turning himself in).
What about ARRAKO and the Arraki? What’s happening with them?
I sent to much time in this comic trying to pick out all the Phoenix X-Men within the Phoenix 😅
And people still think Wanda ends Jean LOL
Never that❤
The end of Krakoa Era came too late, in my opinion.
What happened to all the Arrakki mutants?
Enigma = Drake
Phoenix = Kendrick Lamar
Dominion = J Cole
(sings the Veruca Salt song from Willy Wonka)
But all of that being said...
Does anyone know what Hickman's original plan for the krakoan age was?
I think the final is shoot to wrap up Any loose ends would be gingerbread get her revenge Mother righteous for try to kill her.
sinister is in the apocalypse heir series coming up as one of the contenders for the throne isn't he?
Yes you’re right
Yes
I thought Professor X was Inmate X too, but if you read the free comic book day issue, it was HEAVILY implied that Inmate X was a female redhead, so either Jean Grey or Hope Summers, so…. Which one is correct?
*shown to be [a female redhead]
How? Jean has her own comic...and Hope was sacrificed. I don't think its them. It could be Madelyn, but I doubt that
That was Siryn, and she and I think the Blob were just other inmates. There was also an Inmate X from the high security prison that we did not get to see on panel
@Rinoavalentine I forgot about Siryn...that would be interesting.
@@ozziemsmithCould be interesting if this involves Juggernaut on one of the teams… maybe bring Black Tom in there for reasons.
Xavier was right!
Definitely a good ending
Ok I’ve fallen all the way off of X-men what did they do with planet arakko is it still a thing or what ?
It is still a thing but recovering from the recent civil war between Storm and Genesis.
Jeannie is so OP now omg
Does Knull fight into this whole light and darkness thing?
Fairly good saga, i don't believe BEAST prime has past on,he may try to free the professor and run to MAGNETO and surprisingly WONDER MAN.
Nah. Tiger was never on its level lmao. It's literally confirmed in the same issue the Phoenix scared it and had it hide into the shadows once more.
The tiger God is only an equal towards the aspect of Phoenix that governs fire/light. The Phoenix governs alot of things hence why it has so many opposing forces. Goblin force, tiger God etc
❤❤❤❤❤
Waiting so long for Enigma, and the moment of truth, runs away?
For me, it was trash.
But nice feat stopping Enigma changing the time events.
Can someone please elaborate what Sinister gave Destiny for a wedding present?
The clone body that they used in the same issue
@@aegontheusurpaahClone body of who? And for what purpose?
I haven’t read the issue, but wish to know.
@@arc7375 for destiny to fake marry, while the real mystique steals something from Wanda maximoff’s shop.
@@aegontheusurpaahAh okay. Thanks very much for explaining that for me.
I really wanna what know was Hickman plot cause moving the entire mutant race of the table by just by putting them in the white hot room is super lazy
And Rasputin better be in the new era smh lol
Am so tired of stans saying jean made the phoenix, the Phoenix and jean is like raava and korra, they sre two separate beings. Yhe Phoenix found jesn in space where she nedded help cause jean was dying and it gave a her a choice to be its host and jean agreed, making jean the prime host of the phoenix of earth 616, jean isnt the phoenix force just the vessel connected to it since they fused.
She helped create the Phoebus force. Hope destroyed the Phoenix, died abs became the Phoenix.
So is she dead or not??
Why was ùnder the assumption that mystic and destiny were already married they weren't 😅 I just thought they were
They are. They are renewing their vows.
@@SugarSlayeroh ok
Plus, last time they got married, Mystique was using the alias Eric Raven… who might’ve also been Sherlock Holmes.
So, this time around, it’s them marrying each other as they are.
sinister is in heir of apocalyse
Thank God it was my least favorite X-Men storyline since I was 8 years old and I'm 50. I hated what they did with the characters I hated what they did with Charles Xavier awful
feels generic, unfortunately.
where is the wonder woman review?
lame as hell, kieron gillen's "A game" is still just a bit above mid lol. The tiger god shit is straight up garbage
I dont like Enigma being beaten by the Pheonix. Its Marvel's version of Wonder Woman killing The Darkest Knight. Its nonsensical. Emigma shouldve remained unbeatable
Hickman list the Phoenix and galactus as the only ones the dominion fears since the Beginning
@@DreadheadQzexactly. This was written into the beginning of the series.
SO MUCH TRASH! i'll never buy another x-men comic again.
