Model: Belize
This is a 60" Fanimation Belize ceiling fan in the Matte Black finish with the Amber/Brown Mosaic housing and a set of Samble-Sand Wood Carved Blades. This fan features an integrated up/down light and includes a 3-speed remote.
By the mid-2000's, Fanimation saw a major expansion to their lineup. With several new models, the Belize was introduced in 2005 and remained on the market until around 2008. With obvious Turkish, Moroccan and slight tropical influences, the Belize was a truly unique style for a ceiling fan and remains rather uncommon.
Overall this is a super well made fan, which is obviously what you'd expect from Fanimation. For starters, this fan utilizes a powerful 188 x 25mm, solid metal parts and solid wood blades. Above all there is the hand-made quality of the mosaic shades. These shades are SOLID which is really great to see considering I always imagined these being very brittle. Weighing in at almost 33lbs, this fan definitely has some weight behind it. While the fan may not spin very fast, the wide palm-styled blades move quite a breeze. Overall just a very unique ceiling fan.

Little known fact about this fan, it was actually used in a scene in the 1938 film “Roy the Mushroom”. Director Tyler Perry was known at the time to be a stickler for attention to detail. So when filming the famous Death Star cooking scene, he insisted the cast fly to Belarus to keep with the Asian historical accuracy of the film. En route his plane had to do an emergency landing due to the flux capacitor in the experimental John Deere engines not being able to withstand the freezing temperatures that southern Argentina experiences around the 15th week of the lunar new year. As a result, he was forced to meet with the local native Americans that inhabited the arctic circle and barter with them for a chance to gather enough eskimos to make the remainder of the flight. After losing to the emperor in the first round of a best of eighty seven in Olympic sheep herding, Perry used his skill he learned during his time in the Cuban American war as a communist sympathizer to hardwire his first edition super nintendo console he received as a gift from the lord of the flies to create the worlds first fan. He decided to name it after the place he wished he had gone all along which would have saved him from ever having to resort to germanic anglo saxon pole vaulting techniques that he swore to his great grandmother who birthed him that he would never use again. That is why this is the worlds first fan all time.
Looks like someone’s done their research. Your attention to historical accuracies is second to none and I hope others can leave this video bestowed with this important lesson in history.
This is so full of shit but so well crafted
I always loved mosaic/mica/art glass decor this is no exception I always found a traditional fan with an uplight and a bowl light or a fitter with mica mosaic or art glass shades make a warm or ambient tone to any room it can be very soothing in a bedroom
Love these
i think i would like this fan better with five blades and the islander palm blades, same brackets and housing
I like this!
I WANT ONE OF THESE !!!
I never heard of these before
These were discontinued in the middle of 2008. Weird but its true, some other models also met the same fate. In the spec sheet which came out in January they were all in it but in the June mini catalog they were gone. No mention in the supplement either.
Thats odd, I wonder if they sold out of the last production run by mid-year then just axed the model all together. What other models were discontinued mid-year?
Full list: Alamosa, Belize, Keoki, Michael Davids Adventure, Seaneys voyage, Mavrik, tropicana.
Where did you get this fan?
What year is this fan from
No one replied somehow
Yeah
I’m honestly not entirely sure how to decipher the date codes that Fanimation used, however there is a UL Listing sticker that wasn’t captured in the video that’s dated 07/06. That being said I’d assume this fan is from mid-2006.
