    Thank you for sharing the story about Poppy's eyes and her glasses. I think people will learn a lot from this vlog. My kids both needed glasses when they were young, and I think that I missed the ball on taking them to see their pediatric eye doctor early enough. I didn't notice the signs, so maybe this will help someone else.

    I had the exact same as poppy! I got an op when I was 3 to slightly correct the squint...had glasses from 2 n a half to 15... with the help of glasses and getting older and my eye strengthening...at 15 it was fixed 😊, my mum n dad made sure I always had my glasses on and I'm so thankful they did. Poppy looks adorable with hers. At her age mine covered my whole face almost hahaha. I'm now 35 xxx

    I had a lazy eye as a child (and still do but almost not even there) I wore eye patches to try and correct it. I ended up having 3 eye surgeries. 1st and 3rd on my left and 2nd was on both. I’m 26 so they have different methods now, but it is nice that you found it early on. My last surgery I was in 3rd grade. Good luck with everything!!

    The same thing happened with my daughter when she was 2 years old. Unfortunately her problem is not the muscle where can be corrected with surgery, but a connection with the brain but doctor said the more she wear the glasses the best will be for the brain to register and correct the eyes alignment. She is 6 now and wear them full time since 2 and we see so much improvement. Praying for full healing 🙏🏼 and Poppy will be in our prayers as well ❣️ much love .. 😘

    My 4 year old is a +6 prescription on both eyes, they are very thick. We needed to get the lenses thinned down and they still pop out, but I would recommend doing thinner lenses instead because of her age. We tried to do the plastic glasses but they constantly broke so we switched to what you have and there are no regrets. You can get more flexible plastic ones for sure, but they had a hard time staying on her face. Anyway, that’s my two cents on that but I know it’s difficult and frustrating and different for every family. Good luck on your journey!

Almost 2 years later h the week before he turned 5 we did the surgery and it was a game changer … he went into year five of life a new person but everyone has a different experience… beautiful family

    I was diagnosed with Strabisma at 3! It’s very similar to what you are describing, my “vision” is fine it’s not blurry or anything but i do have trouble focusing on things with both eyes, the muscles in my left eye are weak so it drifts to the side if I’m not paying attention, I’m in eye therapy to help with that but i do wear glasses (got my first at 3) and I have the same eye specialist 12 years later. It’s sooo important to look for the signs at a young age so you can get ahead of the problem before it impacts them in school! My mom noticed that i started covering my “bad” eye, only reading the right pages of books (i was an early reader) and in pictures my eye would drift. My sister also has it but hers didn’t show until she was 8-9 and it’s MUCH less severe. Thank you for looking out for your kiddos! They will thank you later in life!

    This same thing happened to me as a child. My mom noticed my eye turning in and was diagnosed with strabismus, astigmatism and am far sighted at 1 years old. However, I do have terrible vision and have worn my glasses since I was 1 but I did wear an eyepatch to help strengthen my eye. I still have my lazy eye, not noticeable with my glasses but when off, I can control it. Somehow when I do cross it, my vision is clearer. But, I love wearing glasses, they are really apart of my identity and I hope she continues to love hers as well!

    I believe the reason why her eye turns in is because of being far sighted (hypermetropic) she has to use her focusing muscles (ciliary muscles) to focus at a distance. In a normal eye you would only use those muscles for close up. So the muscles that deal with the convergance of her eyes think she must be looking at something close, and point her eyes inwards. The glasses make it so that her focusing muscles are not over-worked, hence the eyes will be more able to work together properly.
    It is important to wear the glasses while she is young, so that her brain and eyes develop the correct coordinaion. If not corrected now it might mean she would never have full 3D vision for life. You are doing the right thing in helping her to wear them full time. Well done.

    My daughter was diagnosed with intermittent exotropia at 3 and was closely followed by eye specialists to make sure it didn’t affect her vision. At 19 she discovered from a tiktok video that she has binocular vision dysfunction. She went to a neuro optometrist and was officially diagnosed and now has prism glasses. All these years of vision issues/headaches etc and it was a simple fix. Vision therapy is next for her. I recommend you get your daughter tested before she starts reading and goes to school.

    Has the optom suggested trying patching and vision therapy like near exercises to naturally strengthen those muscles? May be worth discussing with him if not as this can speed up the process if he recommends for her case

  • @jenfox
    @jenfox Місяць тому

    I think what he means when he says she's far sighted is that she can see things far away alright but he issue is seeing/focusing things up close. Like when she's reading, writing or coloring. She's wearing reading glasses basically 😊 and the glasses will help her with her focusing because her eyes will reach out the center point in the lens because that's where the image (what she's looking at) will become clear 🤓

    Hi, Is she also doing Occupational Therapy? I got glasses when I was 8, I was also farsighted. Struggled to focus from the book to the board and back to the book. I went for OT for 2 years. And I stopped wearing glasses around 14, and my eyes are really good now at 40. I do struggle to focus sometimes when I am really tired.

    Thanks for sharing your story. I wasn't that young when I had to start wearing glasses but I was at least in third or fourth grade when my mom had to get me glasses. I am nearsighted so that means I really can't see words far away. A lot of times when I'm at home I don't have my glasses on because I can see everything. But if I am at work or in a car seeing things far away looks completely burglary especially words I can see and understand probably what shapes of things are cars or you know big signs with it specifically means without actually reading it but it's words that are the most difficult. And my mother also has a really bad stigmatism with hers so she has to have the progressive lenses that don't have the line for the bifocals. So even though that's not probably an option for right now though that might be what you can try to do because she has a thicker lens in her glasses to help with her eyesight. Also I really didn't wear kid glasses as well I had to wear regular adult glasses. So thanks for sharing your story. Also something that I just learned that if your glasses are near anything that pertains to heat or steam it can kind of mess with the film on the glasses so it may look like it's peeling almost like when you see the the tent on the windows of the car not fully sitting on the window and it has the air bubbles.

    It was really good that you noticed Poppy's eye turning in when she was so young. You may have caught it early enough that her glasses may only be temporary. As a former optician most likely it was caused by genetics since almost every in your family has had some of the same eye issues and most of your family all wear glasses including your sister. Somehow it skipped over you since you say your eyesight is perfect. Your daughter seems fine with wearing her glasses now. But I bet she wasn't so good about when she first got them was she? What you should have done when she got her glasses was go out to almost any boutique and found yourself a really cute pair of glasses to wear to encourage her to wear her glasses.
