This is ridiculous! I've been watching the Avatarists videos amid this recent flurry of info and he's been working extremely hard NOT to share leaked stuff. Hell, I was disappointed he couldn't share the leaks, but I obviously know why. He's just been sharing the news on what people have been saying. I love Bryke but the sad truth is that everything is a company, and all companies know at this point is how to abuse their powers. Maybe don't let shit leak, then 🙄 There's the chance that these leaks are fake and that the info has been exaggerated. So the creators need to come forward and clear things up! They haven't! It’s a dumb corpo-rat move to think free hype is bad for business, but it’s one that the studio likely has little input or control over.

The show details did not get me excited at all. It made me groan and roll my eyes. But even so, the fact that Paramount tried to block a video discussing speculation, shows that they just completely mismanage this franchise. Every time the fans try to get excited about something, they clamp down on it. It's either no news, or something is leaked and they don't want us to know. People have been waiting a decade for another show. Let them discuss stuff, dang. If you're confident in your product, any publicity is good publicity.
Paramount shutting down the conversation is just not it. If anything they could use this leak to their advantage and gauge fan reactions while there might still be some time to tweak some things. I doubt they'd change much but it can't hurt for them to see how fans feel about their next avatar.

Any time a studio tries to hide details about new materials, you can very much bet that I will hold it against them. If they do that, I automatically assume they feel their series will tank, so they do it as damage control. If they really cared and wanted to generate genuine hype around the series, they'd just let people be. There is no valid reason in my eyes as to why leaks should be hidden away from people. Just embrace the leaks and the viewership will speak for itself as to the final output's quality. If leaks kill the interest in your product, that just means you made a bad product, it's that simple. If the leaks pique people's interest, then it shouldn't matter in the long run. It's seriously not worth the studio attempting to suppress the leaks.
Paramount should have left the video alone, in fact the Avatar Franchise at the moment needs some discussion, some hype building for upcoming projects in it. If some of those leaks are actually true, they did Korra dirty then, because it implies she let the world be destroyed and the world in ruins. I feel that just does not sit right with me, Korra has her flaws but I can't see her allowing the world to be ruined or even having a direct hand in it.
The impression I got was that Korra died trying to minimize the damage if the cataclysm as much as she could. If that's the case, I can see it happening and in no way would I call it doing her dirty as she would have likely had the most significant and consequential death of any known Avatar. That I can get behind.

This is the same thing Naughty Dog did back in 2020 when leaks for The Last of Us part 2 came out and everyone was immediately angry about what they revealed. They started claiming videos that were just discussing what had been leaked which only pisses people off even more. Leaks can be fun sometimes but I often just wish they didn't happen. This new show is now starting off with a lot going against it. Many like myself don't like the premise very much and now Paramount is being petty by trying silence any discussion about it. I've been of the opinion for quite sometime that ATLA was lightning in a bottle and that Mike and Bryan don't actually understand what made that first show so good and universally loved. Korra has been divisive though it obviously has its fans and now this show doesn't seem like it will be much better. This very well could be a George Lucas situation, where initially everyone praised him as the sole reason for the original trilogy being so good only to later turn against him when the prequels came out (and now act like they always loved him in the wake of the sequels 😂😂😂).

honestly, I don't see any problem, I guess I don't understand it. I think it's fair what they are trying to do, all the leaks feel like early concepts and/or not final, so they don't want the fans to judge very quickly and so harshly when they don't see the full picture yet. I'm a fan of a game who gets a lot of leaks and let me tell you, ppl really like to judge everything from these leaks, and most of the time they change their minds when it comes out.

I think that's a Paramount thing. From my understanding they will go after anyone that talks about any of their work. Stupid in my opinion. That's why not many people review or react to Star Trek (for instance).
While I don't believe the "leaks" are most real. There is likely a part that is. I personally, don't like the vast majority of the "leaks". I hope they don't go in that direction. But, this does seem unfair regardless of my feelings towards the "leaks".
Here’s a theory, what if hypothetically, the leaks aren’t true, but what fans think about the supposed leaks and their apparent displeasure could potentially affect the profit from the series, so Paramount is silencing him so it doesn’t affect their profits from the series in case what we think will happen is not actually the case. Still doesn’t excuse what they are doing, but just a theory. I could be totally wrong though. Honestly, I like most of the information from the leaks, except for the possibility that the avatar powers will be split amongst the twins. It just seems like such a departure from the series logic to make sense. If there’s any lore that contradicts this, please let me know.
@ to me it just doesn’t make sense because there is literally no precedent for it, especially since in the Roku book it’s mentioned he had a twin, who did not have any avatar powers. Don’t get me wrong, I like creativity and doing things that haven’t been done before, but if you start breaking the rules of your world just to make the story work, it really undermines the world and the story by extension. Now, you can introduce ideas and concepts that didn’t exist but don’t break the rules of the world by adding logical exceptions to the rules, like Ming Hua being able to waterbend while having no arms, or Unalaq and Korra being able to bend in the spirit world because they traveled through the spirit portals (though season 2 of Korra does push the envelope quite a bit). I love the idea of the world being reset for some reason and this new avatar being passed over by the White Lotus and apparently having lost a leg (though they will have to do a lot of work to make it work, Toph is what they should draw reference from for writing characters with disabilities). But I worry the idea of both twins carrying parts of the avatar powers will break the immersion of the story, because there is no precedent and they have had firm answers to lore questions like these. Like their answer to the question of whether Aang and Katara’s kids could bend all 4 elements or bend 2 because their parent is the avatar. That’s why I’m wary of that particular piece of information, because it has the potential to break the show if they are not careful.
Sometimes i think that companies in general, only go after crushing small businesses and individuals because that's what they are used to. To utterly dominate or destroy because it worked to get them on top. Which is far more terrifying if true.

honestly, I don't see any problem, I guess I don't understand it. I think it's fair what they are trying to do, all the leaks feel like early concepts and/or not final, so they don't want the fans to judge very quickly and so harshly when they don't see the full picture yet. I'm a fan of a game who gets a lot of leaks and let me tell you, ppl really like to judge everything from these leaks, and most of the time they change their minds when it comes out.

I think that's a Paramount thing. From my understanding they will go after anyone that talks about any of their work. Stupid in my opinion. That's why not many people review or react to Star Trek (for instance).

While I don't believe the "leaks" are most real. There is likely a part that is. I personally, don't like the vast majority of the "leaks". I hope they don't go in that direction.
But, this does seem unfair regardless of my feelings towards the "leaks".
The fact that Paramount is suppressing this makes these leaks valid.

Here’s a theory, what if hypothetically, the leaks aren’t true, but what fans think about the supposed leaks and their apparent displeasure could potentially affect the profit from the series, so Paramount is silencing him so it doesn’t affect their profits from the series in case what we think will happen is not actually the case. Still doesn’t excuse what they are doing, but just a theory. I could be totally wrong though.
Honestly, I like most of the information from the leaks, except for the possibility that the avatar powers will be split amongst the twins. It just seems like such a departure from the series logic to make sense. If there’s any lore that contradicts this, please let me know.
We are of the same minds. I liked the leaks EXCEPT for how the powers of the Avatar and the Avatar State will work between the twins.
@ to me it just doesn’t make sense because there is literally no precedent for it, especially since in the Roku book it’s mentioned he had a twin, who did not have any avatar powers. Don’t get me wrong, I like creativity and doing things that haven’t been done before, but if you start breaking the rules of your world just to make the story work, it really undermines the world and the story by extension. Now, you can introduce ideas and concepts that didn’t exist but don’t break the rules of the world by adding logical exceptions to the rules, like Ming Hua being able to waterbend while having no arms, or Unalaq and Korra being able to bend in the spirit world because they traveled through the spirit portals (though season 2 of Korra does push the envelope quite a bit).
I love the idea of the world being reset for some reason and this new avatar being passed over by the White Lotus and apparently having lost a leg (though they will have to do a lot of work to make it work, Toph is what they should draw reference from for writing characters with disabilities). But I worry the idea of both twins carrying parts of the avatar powers will break the immersion of the story, because there is no precedent and they have had firm answers to lore questions like these. Like their answer to the question of whether Aang and Katara’s kids could bend all 4 elements or bend 2 because their parent is the avatar. That’s why I’m wary of that particular piece of information, because it has the potential to break the show if they are not careful.

Sometimes i think that companies in general, only go after crushing small businesses and individuals because that's what they are used to. To utterly dominate or destroy because it worked to get them on top. Which is far more terrifying if true.

I watched his video and in all honesty off premise I don’t think I’d pick up and watch it, as a piece of the whole I think it will fit nicely. I’ve spent 20 years with this series and know the creators can do good work. I’m just happy we are getting eased into it with the adult Aang movie.

they went about the wrong way of getting the leaks taken down, which I believe they are entitled to, it's their creative work. We should respect them and let them plug up their hole and continue working on it.
That's not at all how copyright law works. The only legal action that can be taken are against those who made the leaks to begin with.
