LOVE! The videos! ... do you know of a way to make shapes as smooth as possible? I used the Shape Generator: Ring, to make a trumped shape on the end of a cylendar, but the max number of sides is 24. When I printed it, it's very noticably not smooth. Any way to make it smoother? The only way I found to do it, is duplicate and turn it a bit, and duplicate and repeat, so you have more shapes with more sides, making it smooth-er.. but now that one shape is like 10 shapes. Not sure if that's cool, or overcomplicating the number of shapes for export, etc. Thanks for your help!
Thanks for the kudos. Would you like to send a share link so I can see inside it? Here's how ua-cam.com/video/XeDQjhRK8lg/v-deo.html You can reach me at hlmodtech gmail.
Is it my version of TinkerCAD or is there an issue with editing or changing Z dimensions (it lets me change X & Y but not Z)? Is there a F key or control key that will allow changing height shapes, like bending the top in a particular direction or from a square on the bottom to a triangle at the top?
Designs always have 5 white handles. 4 for the x & y corners and 1 for the z. If you use the corner of a view cube it likely be easier to spot the handle for Z. This vid is super short and I show the Z handle in the first 2 min. I click and type a number, but it would be the same if you grabbed it. The cone above it lifts the shape off the workplane.
I know this video is 4 years old, but I hope someone can steer me in the right direction. At the 55 second mark I finally learned how to alter a circle. How would I make a semi circle inside of a box, with the semi circle being hollowed out? I am making some small tooling holders and that would help things along. Thanks
This video might get you on the right track. ua-cam.com/video/6r-H0o_ZlZQ/v-deo.html Of course instead of full circles you could use the shape catalog to find a semi circle option that fits your needs. @HLModTech sometimes the videos with this software look different than the software I'm using. Maybe a newer version? I did finally figure out how to make the holes in my pieces.
Glad you were able to solve it. Tinkercad has updated quite a bit in the last 2 years. If the video is from before 2021... it will be pretty different. Feel free to reach out if you are ever stuck.
Sorry about that. They did update the interface. Now shape generators is at the very bottom. Once you click that, it will show you the featured shapes.

Make sure you are switching to "shape generators" and featured. The first choice there is the extrusion. It is dark grey and allows you to tweak the shape. I think that is the one you are looking for.
@@HLModTech oh so you're not allowed to tweak the other shapes there? Maybe that's why I never picked the first excursion shape I picked some of the others thinking I can manipulate them all. You are now my new favorite person!
@@Ky232010 😊 Bingo. That is it. It is crazy how you can mix them though as well. If you create a sweet extrusion, you can turn it into a hole and subtract it from another shape. I need to record a clip of that because it is a really slick trick that opens up a lot of options for creation. Thanks again for the note! Always cool hear from users and you guys really help me as I come up with what to create next.
Hi! I'm not sure if this is an update, but I don't have an option to select shape generator from the menu at all. All I have from the drop-down on the right is Basic Shapes and other included characters. Do you know what might have happened? Thank you!

Hi i'm using tinkercad all the time, but the problem i have is the shape generated features won't drag across on to my work plain, what am i doing wrong?
Try this. Click the item you want to use... then pause a moment and move your mouse to the workspace. It just took a moment for the system to catch up and then I was able to place "australia" where I wanted on my work plane. =)
@@HLModTech I tried that, it highlights the object with a white square as in bent pipe and when i slide it to the work plain it comes up with loading document in the bottom left hand corner and that's it
I opened a new work plain, clicked on the object for 10 seconds then slid it across to the work plain, 10 minutes later still nothing on the work plain, basic shapes and numbers go straight across no problem

How did you add the third foot? I mean, how did you add the additional point in the bezier curve? Thanks - nice video
I still only had the 4 they gave us.... I just moved them to locations that worked for making the design I wanted. Great question though.
Everything seems to be in straight lines, could you take a tube and bend it so that it was smoothly contoured say into an L shape tube?
Bent pipe. 👍 This was not an L, but it should get you close. ua-cam.com/video/djBvdVc5pv4/v-deo.html
