Thank you. My Dad just died Dec 3 It's a small world. I am in contact with someone who was on the HANCOCK in 1972. Thank you for your dad's service. I am a Vietnam veteran myself USS Brooke DEG-1 I was Quarter Master did one tour of duty. I am so glad we got this on video in time. 😢
So sorry for your loss.... My Dad and I watched the whole interview together, we laughed several time's out loud to your Dad's excellent humor. My Dad turned 90 this past August. They may have crossed paths at one of the reunions through the years. My Dad spent some time with John Finn at one of those reunions,.. more great stories. God Bless!
Thanks for your service. My uncle served aboard USS Hancock C-19 as a AOM to support the air group 1944- 1945 wounded Okinawa awarded Purple Heart during these rads . I just got the book Point Option book its about VF- 6 air group that few off the Hancock and other carriers Herschel Herschel Pahi a Navy pilot.
Love listening to the greatest generation! Yes indeed, no filters just say like it is and I'm sure many of the generations now probably gets offended to hear those salty languages. Rest in peace, warrior, you've properly relieved.
My uncle was on the Hancock when this happened on April 7th, 1945. He was in the aft hangar re-arming aircraft when they kamikaze made it into the fore hangar.

My grandfather (whom i miss dearly) was aboard the Hancock during WW2. I still have the yearbook... his uniform... and his daily journal.
