I Used To Work For Post Office. Their old system is not working. The Management and The Administration don't know what they are doing. All They Do Is Abuse Employees and Make people work so hard they are all burn out. Postal service is old and antique. They need to overhaul the whole postal service system. Thank You.
Exactly 💯
A post office near my hometown was updated and several local small post offices (the little ones that used to share space with other small businesses ) were closed and their mail was rerouted to the updated office. A couple years ago that office made the local news because operations were so screwed up that they had run out of storage space inside so they were storing mail and packages on pallets behind the building. Enough mail and packages to fill up 2 20 ft box trucks when it was cleaned up.
Sounds like managers from India.
The key here is "used too" I imagine you were to stupid or lazy
They still make carriers pivot, work for free.
This is like I tell my kids" Just because someone has a job, doesn't mean they are qualified to do it."
Or paid enough to care or do the job right. You get what you pay for.
That's why there is a distinct difference between "professional" and "expert". Being a professional doesn't mean you're the best for the job.
They are diverse hires
Like parents ...
I should add this just doesn't apply to the postal service . It applies too all positions including the PRESIDENT and VICE PRESIDENT.
We should appreciate our honest, dependable and good postal workers. They are overwhelmed as there are skeleton staff in many post office locations. It is a shame that no one wants to work and some people are working past their retirement. This is one of the MOST important jobs for every household in the US. The Postal Inspector and management needs to do better. Also PLEASE don't just hire any one as there are many thieves as we have seen on the news.
People want to work when they are PAID FAIRLY. better pay and benefits for the ground level workers, cuts and accountability to management would fix this problem.
This is the consequences of the postal service cutting pay, eliminating positions, & condensing smaller stations into a huge hub station. USPS workers barely even want to do their jobs with these changes much less a new employee off the street.
Absolutely true. Especially when you consider how physically difficult the job can be, and how much pressure you're under. Also, that you can go get a number of fast food positions for almost as much pay, many people will just do that instead.
Horrible job back then, worse today. My brothers and my friends worked there.
The postal service rarely hire career employees. Instead the utilize casual temporary people who are not invested in the job, much less take pride in their work.
This is what happens when Big Bad Amazon has to be delivered on time by the U.S.P.S. They are even delivering Amazon on Sundays. This kind of issue is showing Big money has control over the US systems.
I've worked at the PO (not in TX) for a long time and this is the heaviest peak season ever. I worked 75 hrs, every week in Nov. and Dec. We simply did not have enough people willing to do the work. I expect more OT than usual during peak but 75 hrs/week is ridiculous.
The biggest factor in all of this is the prioritization of delivering Amazon packages over USPS. Ask any USPS mail carrier about “Amazon Sundays” and the amount of packages that they deliver specifically for Amazon. Anyone saying that it’s not a factor is a liar!
Not just San Antonio - it's happening at USPS in Atlanta GA too. I have at least 3 packages with tracking numbers all shipped on Dec 6th stating "delivery delayed" for over 3 weeks now just sitting at the Atlanta distribution site. I have family complaining of the same issues in the Wash DC/Metro area as well.
I'm from KY but we have ordered plenty of packages that NEVER came and some that came with EMPTY packages; Some of the workers at the Nashville USPS have been stealing & mishandling the packages. One lady said her check for a bill was stolen and they bleached the check and tried to cash it for $9000. Thank God her bank called her to let her know before they cashed it
our mail carrier got caught stealing packages here n there on her route, then flipping them online in a pile as "amazon refund pallets" the only reason I even got a ring camera was because after having 4 packages last year marked as delivered, when they were not, and I was home. got the camera thinking it was porch pirates. Nope the mail lady was scanning them at the front door for her gps tagger, then walking back to the truck with the package and then the post office just telling me "oh well its gone"
Kentucky here, luckily I've never had 1 single issue with USPS. I sell a lot of eBay items and always go through the USPS.
@@ChadH2023 it's not the sent items; it's the receiving them. Especially if the company we order from is in California. I guess it goes down to Texas and then up to Nashville.
@@JessicaBlaze89 Sent or received items for me, but i never buy anything expensive online either. I do that locally. Not taking any chances.
Nashville is blue now, it's not going to get any better.
We couldn't understand why we shipped a package from NY to NC and it went to NC then to SC then back to NC again...USPS has the most inefficient use of resources I've seen, so if this is efficiency I'd hate to see what they consider inefficient. If you get your package you should consider yourself lucky, shipping from or to anywhere. Increase prices and they cant even get packages delivered any more.
You know it's getting bad when the Postmaster General, the head of the USPS, advises you not to rely on the post office (as it was recently announced). It sad to me considering that about a 100 years ago my great grandfather was our town's Postmaster and they could regularly get mail and packages accurately across the country in 3 to 5 days.
He caused this mess so yeah he should know.
@@Ahodges2022you have zero clue about what you are talking about.
@@Ahodges2022Literally, none of what you wrote is true. Jfc, either you're deliberately lying or you're sadly misinformed. Either way, you're *wrong* .
@@mkat4271it's crazy how people will confidently state something that is not even close to the truth.
I guess the Post Office doesn't hire Christmas season workers anymore.
Nope and who would want to work for them not anyone hope people are reading all the comments 😊 that they say why would I went to work in a bad stressful job and ruin their health
@@barbaratyrrell3185 I worked for UPS for a Christmas rush season. IT SUCKED!!! and it didn`t really pay.
This is unacceptable. Those responsible need to be held accountable.
That will never happen USPS promotes The failures. I have said for years the easiest way to promoted at USPS is to fail at your current job. Retired USPS
@@firefightingmailmannot just the USPS….anywhere there is a guaranteed check there is the highest level of incompetence fostering nepotism.
@@firefightingmailman oh so true after 33 years I saw the same thing. Too much at the top. Thats where the money goes.
Delaying those packages is not a good thing but, I can understand why it happened. 1. Managers are only held accountable for the packages that arrive at their branch. By holding packages off site, they are considered to be in transit. 2. Simply transporting those delayed packages to the branch won't guarantee their delivery either unless there are enough carriers to get that done. I suspect that there aren't enough so, the manager chose to only accept what s/he had the staffing to handle.
The reason for mail backup across the US is due to the 2020 efforts of Donald Trump installing Louis DeJoy to be postmaster general as he had 770+ mail-sorting machines disassembled and destroyed across the country to interfere with mail-in ballots. Each machine could sort about 1 million pieces of mail PER HOUR.
Also, DeJoyu intentionally blocks most of the traditional overtime to keep the Postal Service from delivering items within 1-2 days… Have you noticed the same typedeliveries take 3-5 days?
Now, those pieces of mail are all being handled manually. There’s the cause!
Worked for the Post Office for 30 years and just retired. The Post Master of the Post Office s should make all efforts to get those packages delivered in their cities and towns. On the other hand the District Manager s just are paper pushers and Ladder climbers. They sit behind a desk and do reports on reports that have nothing to do with delivering the mail and packages. I remember are goal was to get 1st class mail delivered as quick as possible. Now the goal is to get the priority mail delivered first and the letters take secondary concern. I really enjoyed working at the Post Office and enjoyed all my customers. I do miss all my customers, that’s what kept me doing my job. Decoy is not the problem it’s the District Manager s and their attitude they are above everyone else. That’s the problem. And some have never delivered MAIL.
I did 34 years, the place sucks. Your last sentence says it all.
I was wondering what was going on. My package coming from another country traveled from Germay to us in 4 days but sat at the main San Antonio hub for over 15 before finally moving to my local post office to be delivered.
How interesting because we have the same issue in our little small town post office in Soddy Daisy, Tennessee. It’s been going on for years but recently it came to a head because a Chattanooga tv reporter became aware of it and it was all over the news showing the pallets of packages sitting outside in the rain. Even when it’s not Christmas our mail routinely comes after we go to bed at night because they never have enough help.
My goodness my husband's niece is a school teacher in Soddy Daisy. We have been there to visit , strawberry festival, car show in the quaint down town. Small world ❤
On one of the trucking channels "muthatrucker" said that a transport company "Matheson" lost their long term mail routes with USPS. So I'm guessing brokers are scrambling to cover those loads.
I worked there 35 years & it’s always terrible management that causes this crap. If a management position comes up, all the laziest, most useless employees all jump at the chance thinking it will get them out of doing real work
Amen brother, you hit the nail on the head. I did 34 years.
I would be freaked out about life sustaining medications. I have to rethink Express Scripts as a pharmacy unless they change carrier.
I guess the main requirement for management positions at USPS, is incompetence.
It's there diverse hires that are terrible
The problem is that the USPS will hire anyone with a pulse. I worked there 28 years and it was awful when I left and is worse now. Hard to believe but true.
The only way to fix that is to pay better and offer PTO and benefits to the new employees. Then you'll get better people, and more applicants. The compensation for the work, vs the stress and difficulty of the work is pretty bad these days. Especially when you can go with zero experiance and get a job with benefits immediately and almost the same pay, but with NO meaningful stress or responsibility in numerous fast food chains.
Higher ups are only interested in collecting their bonuses.
I don't understand why they don't hire seasonal workers for the holidays. I know in NYC they hire seasonally. I had a client who has been working seasonally for years with USPS.
Postal is horrid. Every time I try to go to the post office (not near a holiday) there is a line out the door. Now I’ve been waiting on a permit from the city that was mailed 10 days ago from down the street-still hasn’t made it to my house. My sister mailed me something 2 weeks ago Priority mail from IL. It’s still in IL, I live in AZ.
I think we should all boycott the the postal service all together screw it 🙄👎😡
This sucks i priority mailed a package to San Antonio two weeks ago, it was supposed to be there by Dec 15th, the tracker says it’s in transit to its next destination, but it said that last week, what a way to ruin multiple people’s Christmas
Yep. Waiting for three packages currently, they were moving along just fine until they reached San Antonio. Scan. Re-scan two days later. Etc. Still in SA.
If this is what efficiency looks like I'm gonna have to sit this one out!
One of my packages was in Richmond on the 19th (I live an hour north). It the went south to North Carolina. Then, on the 24th it was back in Richmond 🤯. No wonder they lose money & can’t make an on time delivery.
The full blame must land on DE Joy’s head. He is actively attempting to continue to dismantle tho USPS. His cost cutting measures have prevented the service. From being able to quickly sort using previously removed sorting devices, and refused t o hire the number of employees that are required to achieve anywhere close to the savings these sorters provided, let alone the normal increase of employee# needed fro peak periods. He needs to be called to account for where these machines are now.
The pay and benefits at USPS is an absolute joke.
And yet the feds are Trillions in debt lol !
It’s a joke! 19/hr to be treated like a slave. They need to pay their employees a decent living wage! Fast food workers make more…It’s wrong!
Sorry your salary and bonus went to ukraine and migrants again. Hunter thanks you for the yacht.
@@duchessnoodle4498my daughter gets $27 a hour plus FULL benefits and retirement 😂 you McDonald's employees get nothing so.......🤔
Not true at all 😂 you clearly have no idea because my daughter gets FULL benefits plus retirement plus bonuses plus she can transfer anywhere plus she makes $27 a hour AND SHE IS JUST A CLERK 🤣
Just how many Billions of our Tax dollars go to the US Postal Service every year not to mention the Postage on packages. What a Scam.
Get an education...the post office is self funded. Your tax dollars are not part of it.
@@mkat4271 Congress gets a cut from every wire Transfer that goes through the Post office. Is that part of their self funding ? The US Postal Service lost 9 Billion in 2021 & 4.5 Billion in 2022 , great job at self funding. You get an education. There is a long list of USPS Tax Payer Bailouts if you would like for me to list them ?
Also you have congressman who want to make sure that the facilities in their districts don't disappear. I had a pkg that went from one place in Va to another place in Va with TWO detours to a facility in Florida.
And the USPS wants to increase rates yet again.
I mailed out so much stuff through USPS this week, I hope my customers get em
I'm old. When i was growing up, there were institutions you could depend on. The Postal Service was of almost mythic proportions; you KNEW you would get your mail. Now look at this mess! My question is this: does ANYONE IN CHARGE OF ANYTHING give a damn anymore? It certainly doesnt sound like it.
This is happening all over the country. Who is the US Postmaster general?
tRump appointee Louis DeJoy who is destroying the Postal Service.

My stuff was last scanned in San Antonio. On 12/19/2023. I live 3 hours away. It’s 12/21/2023 Tracking says package is now “moving through the system”. Maybe my ish is still sitting in SA. Maybe management was like, forget scanning. Get packages out the building... 🤷
Not just there,it’s everywhere
The facility in Brandywine MD simply got shutdown because of one reason.
B LACKS EMPLOYEES
I just had a conversation with a family member in Michigan who was sent to collections for bills that were mailed in September and the checks never arrived at their destination to this day. My water bill usually comes 2 weeks before it's due. Last month's bill was already late when I received it. And In mid-December I received two letters that were dated October 30, 2023 and November 30, 2023. We don't get mail on a daily basis anymore, so we have to travel to the post office and go inside to mail letters now to have the best chance of having our mail arrive at its destination...some day. It seems like mail is often directed to the wrong address too, which may be part of the reason for late mail if whomever received it first doesn't bring it over directly or it is only received after a cycle of misdeliveries. The check washing thefts are a whole other thing. smh Everything is broken these days. Nothing works like it used to.
That happened three years ago in the North Houston Main PO. They just stacked the packages up and they sat there for a week or two before moving to the next location.
That was because of COVID....not the same
It's not just SA, its affecting all of Central Texas. My sister up in the DFW area mailed us a package of baked goods (I'm about an hour west of Austin) over 2 weeks ago and we still havent got it. This time of I'm used to seeing Christmas workers on the routes but this year its our regular old carrier who says no one hired extra help this year.
That same carrier has a relative who works maintenance in SA, said they fired a bunch of employees at the warehouse in the news story out of retaliation. I hope the news is following up on that.
It’s time for the privatization of the post office; the federal government has consistently proven its incompetence in this endeavor, whereas UPS, FedX and Amazon have proven private does it best and best of they make a profit .
💯
FedEx stinks also. They have about 10,000 tires somewhere that they lost!
Nah fuck off w that bullshit. Privatize the postal service and nobody worth a damn will ever work there again. Ever heard of the term “going postal” it exists for a reason.
If only! My problem is post office theft. Marking my items 'delivered' but not even receiving a letter. And it doesn't help that now FedEx and UPS are dropping packages of to the USPS to be delivered. What am I paying delivery for?
I live 10 miles south of Houston. I ordered a customized Christmas gift on Nov. 1. Etsy retailer sent it from FL to Houston on Nov. 10 via Priority US Mail. Tracking info said it sat in Houston for a week, then was sent to Seabrook, TX, then it was sent to North Houston, then to Austin, TX, then to New Mexico where it sat for another week, and back to Houston, and I received it Dec. 15th.
I watch my postal delivery employee take his union break and sit in his truck for 20 plus minutes
My small town post office was broken into and they had time to go through the packages and take what they wanted
We are pretty sure it was an inside job
I regularly see packages I have shipped sitting in a usps distribution center for weeks even up to a month before they actually get delivered
10 years ago they forced people to retire and fired people for bogus reasons to downsize their facilities. They opted for temp employees so you get what you get from someone who knows they won't have that job in a month.
Nothing changes in the postal service.
I had the post office lose my package that had TRACKING....how do you lose a tracked package ????
Easy , its USPS we're talking about
This goes on in Dallas Texas as well. We ship 27 boxes a day and 1 of 35 packages marinate in Dallas for 2 weeks all the time without a single scan, than all of a sudden show up without never being scanned.
If we weren't funding wars all over the world then maybe they could hire some seasonal workers. And why are so many people moving away from their family and having to mail Christmas anyway? Life is short, stay close to those who bring the most meaning to your life.
What does funding wars have to do with anything....USPS doesn't get federal money.
Yep my mail didn’t make it to my family in time. I paid for express shipping. Bullshit.
This is why government is so terrible.. No one is ever fired for failure
Firing someone would require the supervisor to do their job and write up the failing employee.
I ordered a package from South Carolina on the 15th. It arrived in Dallas on the 18th at 5:27 am, then in San Antonio at 1:27 pm on the 18, it now says it's back in Columbia South Carolina .
We NEVER ship any packages at work via the USPS. The service is terrible, and we can’t risk having thousands of dollars in parts lost for months, which they’ve done before. We call them the United Shitty Postal Service.
I am so glad for making that smart decision keep it going 👍😊
De Joy is doing such a wonderful job.
Ain’t he though?🙄
This is one reason they should never be bailed out again
Proves that Christmas is all about the gifts.
Of course it is! Anyone who says different is lying, and I promise their actions prove it
What else would it be about?
Their service been horrible, nothing new. They can’t deliver regular local mail without problems. I sent “registered” mail back in July. I haven’t received a delivery notification yet and the recipient hasn’t received the letter either. 🙄
And this is news how?
Nobody should get upset when they do their part to overload a workforce because they waited "for the season" to ship their gifts.
Little Johnny's just going to have to deal with it.
This is Louis DeJoys USPS. Get rid of that guy!
Ooh his coworkers will recognize that voice!!
I lived in San Antonio for 15 years, this is nothing new. The postal service unreliablity is the reason I stopped using them.
Thank you louie dejoy
Let Amazon deliver the package at least they will get there.... The Government tried too get UPS to deliver the mail 35 years ago and UPS turned I'd down.
Post office has a contract with Amazon to deliver their packages.
It they are thatbshort on staff, then they need to take a page from Amazon and do massive hiring campaign, train folks for 3 days while they learn on the job in the warehouses. Get those packages 📦 to where they need to go!
Wonder where my package is I've been waiting 6 weeks for. May never get it.
In my area, mgmt isn’t doing overtime for employees is what I’ve heard.
Sad to say, it isn't just San Antonio. I know Austin has issues as well. Holding packages for days and weeks before delivery...regardless of time of year. I ship packages via UPS due to this. In Texas, it takes about one day via UPS. USPS...several days to a week. And IF you want a "fast" delivery...it costs an arm and a leg.
I appreciate this whistleblower confirming my suspicions.
It was time to privatize the USPS 30 years ago.....it's little more than a gov't slush fund now, losing over $25 million per day......
A big part of the issue is carriers calling out last minuets or taking unscheduled time off and nothing happens to them because the union sticks up for them. A lot of that is Amazon and Temu packages that are sent the lowest & cheapest rate (parcel post and parcel pool) mail that is delivered last.
Express; Priority and 1st Class goes out first then Ground Advantage and finally the stuff sent the.cheapest way possible goes after everything else is done.
The US Post Master General has a lot of the blame testing on his shoulders. He came up with the “Ground Advantage” scam to force more mail on trucks since he owns one of the trucking companies that is contracted to move mail for the USPS!!! Can you say double dipping or conflict of interest! He is even clawing back some of the contracts and reassigning them to his own company!
Pay mail carriers overtime!!! During this special time of year!!!
When people get and retain their jobs based on anything but merit and performance, this is what you get.
What about people who get their medications by mail?
Not enough workers pay sucks and work is too demanding
They screw up everything they touch.
Every year in November for the past 5 years, I have paid premium dollar to get my package to Stockholm to arrive before Christmas and only one time they got it there on time
Buying local is an easy fix, people should try it. Shopping online and picking it up in store is pretty convenient too.
The Christmas mail should have been handled by San Nicholas instead of San Antonio. They picked the wrong "San".
People like this are corrupt!
If everyone is so upset about not getting their packages, join the post office and help them distribute it or stop mailing all your stuff around Christmas time. This happens every year and the post office should be hiring more.
Yeah, people whining because they order something a week before Christmas and don't get it, then they have a wrong address on it, or whatever. I found 99% of complaints are usually a customer can't read tracking, haven't changed their address since the moved 2 years ago, the seller bought a label but never mailed it, the belly aching goes on daily.
@@mkat4271 you’re very right about that! Lack of planning, care, and checking it twice going on over there, yet the post office staff is to blame?? Geez!
They have literally one job........
Who uses USPS anymore??? I use a private mail service company and get guaranteed results. I shipped a 20# package last Tuesday via this small company. It arrived next day 12 hours early from south Texas to North Texas. Im impressed.
It’s all over the Country not just one place this is nothing compared to what is sitting in trailers on lots.
You use contractors that don’t pay the employees enough trying to work under the usps.
people need to get fired
My local postal service is amazing, but things definitely went downhill since Louis DeJoy became Postmaster General.
Worked in the post office. Really obviously when mail is withheld. My believe is because of count that determines your pay. Don't know if this is your case in texas, but have realize this in the Midwest. Bet after this, it will be really hard on the mail carriers,
I have a package sitting in Philadelphia right now that's been 'delayed' that was to arrive on the 21st.🤔 following the tracker and its held up.🤷
They should check out the mess in Evergreen, CO. They can't get the mail into a p O box inside the PO correctly, let alone deliver and complaints are ignored.
Carrollton Texas is bad also. I have packages that have been sitting there for four days now. Nope they didn't make it for Christmas.
Amazon is always on time,i dont ever use u.s.p.s because of this reason
USPS delivers all Amazon in our area....and most others
What an absolute disgrace!! And it’s funny we would’ve never known anything about it had there not been a whistleblower… As usual!
Nothing new. About 6 yrs ago I sent X-mas gifts the first week of December. They finally arrived mid-February and all the tracking requests in Dec, Jan, Feb placed them at my local USPS until they were finally shipped out of state and delivered.
Didn't realize San Annonio got a lot of sleet and snow.
I just had a package ship from IN, to IL to WI (where i live) back to IL then to MO then IL then WI where i finally received it 10 days after it shipped.
Every year, people wait until the last minute to get their gifts mailed off, and every year people act all shocked and surprised when the Post Office falls behind.
That happened to us. We have quite a few things just waiting
The whistle-blowers exposing everything seem to be punished more than anyone doing wrong doing.
I hope this person is not being held somewhere for sharing an issue.
