- Beating the normal courses unlocks the Extra courses, and also the chance to unlock Devil and Angel (which didn't exist in original Ridge Racer) cars. 13¨ Racing can be obtained from Normal Expert course (hence why I do that first), while White Angel is obtainable from the Extra Expert course.
As for the races, they are pretty simple, even the Angel/Devil ones. You don't need to worry about blocking Angel or Devil cars; as long as you don't crash into walls too much, you are good to go.
This was recorded on Retroarch using Beetle HW core. I also enabled PGPX which enables perspective correction and thus makes polygons look more stable. - Ігри

Wow. I never knew that they included the Crinale and Angelus as an added bonus, along with having this game run at 60fps.

Surprised you have to drift in the Angelus. Usually that thing has such good grip that you're more likely to hit the inside of a corner than understeer at top speed.
The only thing missing from this version was the time of day change. that would have made it perfect.

@@MH-yp6wg yep. Only 2 cars on track in each race and no day/night transition. Still 9.2/10 game imo. Guess what, Setsuna Yuki, Ayumu Uehara, Shioriko Mifune, and Ren Hazuki played this game a lot. Ren Hazuki in particular, loves those retro games.
@@ENFDO ENFDO, those boss cars in RIDGE RACER 1 and Revolution can be a nightmare sometimes. So thats why i use Action Replay to instantly unlock those. You?
@@purwantiallan5089 Well it's a demo, after all... gameplaywise it's kinda pointless compared to the Full versions of the game, and graphically still a large downgrade from the arcade.

The only thing missing in RIDGE RACER HI-SPEC DEMO are the drastic reduction to the number opponents and no day/night transition. Other than that, its 9/10.

Namco really need to get back to OG Ridge Racers for the PS5!!!! I miss the old school Arcade racers, Burnout more or less got close to it!!! that even the later PSP Ridge Racers borrowed the drift boost... Burnout borrowed the expanding/alternating tracks.... I loved Ridge's track design and the sunny outrun aesthetic... even Burnout had this aesthetic.... If PS5 disc BC is a thing im playing these again and if they have trophies to encourage playing again even better..... If Ace Combat can make a comeback I believe whoevers in charge of Ridge at Namco must be working on it... and dont make it open world!!!!... the only successful open world right now is Forza Horizon and even they are running out of ideas.... the Crew is typical ubi crap, Nd 4 Spd is EA fucking up the formula and trying to mxt it to death, both is indicative of why Rockstar didnt carry on with Midnight Run i have a funny feeling we wont see a horizon 5 for quite a while..... Namco could repackage all the cars and all the tracks in one game with improved grafix maybe even a track builder... Ridge basically needs new ideas or just unlimited tracks lol thats its problem, or some form of points or combo system to go faster etc but thats Burnout territory... i miss reiko nagase as well
I hope Ridge Racer 8 is similar to Ridge Racer on the PSP. The og tracks were super fun.
What needs to be done on PS5 is to bring Driveclub back.

Was this a special PS1 release or only for certain markets? I've never heard of a high-spec version of Ridge Racer.
I'm thinking this was the bonus disc to R4. In R4, you got two discs one for the literal game but a second disc of the original Ridge Racer but with updated graphics. I never knew about the hidden cars or their significance until today.

Yeah, Angel car was introduced in Ridge Racer Revolution. Ridge Racer 1 only had the Devil one.
@@Raivop yep. Defeating the final boss car in RIDGE RACER 1 can be a huge problem even if u race perfectly.
