She's really aged gracefully. Not trying to look 20 or 30, or even 40; just her age. And has remained in the culrural conversation on her terms. A lot to admire.
John Davies there are so many women that go the route of silicone and it really warps their face, but we’re all so used to it that a woman actually aging gracefully is refreshingly beautiful. There are a few women who have probably have some decent work, like Susan Sarandon. But I think older women are beautiful when they just embrace the fact that they aren’t 30 anymore. Jessica Lange is a stone cold fox imo
The first time I saw Kathy Bates was in Misery, and she played that role so well it look me a while get over my dislike of her to watch anything else she was in. Such an amazing talent.
The first movie I saw with Kathy Bates was Titanic, and she seemed like a really sweet lady in that movie, then I saw her in Misery and I’m like “damn, this isn’t the Kathy Bates I remember” lol
The reason why she’s so grounded and humble is because of her longtime presence in the industry. She was acting in small movie roles and on stage for nearly 20 years, with zero recognition. Then Misery came along and she finally hit the big time. It was laughable when some critics called her “newcomer” Kathy Bates. Hardly.
When I met her she was mid career in movies and yes very grounded and no star like qualities on display! Perfectly lovely humble average woman in a very expensive rain coat, lol.. on a rainy evening buying some high quality reading glasses we had at NM in Dallas. It was a pleasure to meet her. My surprise regular client was London stage star Felicity Kendal who was married to a man from Dallas. Another delightful lady.
I just rewatched Misery the other day... and I don't care what you say, but Kathy Bates acting is PHENOMENAL! Couldn't think of anyone better to play that role. Today's generation thinks people like Channing Tatum and Kristen Stewart are GREAT actors. PLEEEEASE.... Get off my lawn!
"Mr. Chip Whitley idek how Kristen Stewart is even an actor, she just doesn't seem like an outgoing person, she is very awkward and reserved" Awkward and reserved actors I'm cool with. That bitch can't act though....at all.
Absolute legend. Her roles in Misery, the very underrated Dolores Claiborne and Titanic are performances for the history books. She's had a great career even beyond those, but I hope she lands another juicy role.
"Dressed to the Ankles" - A series of print ads & TV commercials for Hanes Silk Reflections Casual Hosiery featuring Emmy and Academy Award winner Kathy Bates of the Straight Time, Misery, Dolores Claiborne & Titanic fame. Narrated by Tony Award winner Miss Judith Ivey from September 27, 1985 - present.
"It wasn't easy; I was hip in my day. It's a big burden to be so cool in high school." " I guess so. But you've kinda gone down after that, right?" SICK BUUURRRRN!!!
The great Kathy Bates carries herself with the kind of grace that only a well honed princess can, but also demonstrates a 'no nonsense' attitude to life whilst not being afraid to speak her mind. Graceful and bad ass both in equal proportions! What has also always struck me with Kathy is the bags of natural charisma that this woman has. A fabulous actress who is indefatigable in her talents and a grand damè of the silver screen. "Kathy, I'm your number one fan!" Chris (UK).
My mom loved to watch misery when i was child, i remember as a kid almost crying for poor dude and being frightened of her .. for quite a number of years i was scared of her but now after watching her in AHS .. wow! Such a talent!
She's actually played three King characters. Annie Wilkes, Dolores Claiborne, and a lot of people forget her cameo as Rae Flowers in the 1994 adaptation of The Stand.
She looks beautiful. One of Hollywood's greatest actresses. I've read online that so many actors that work with Ms Bates... have said that shes the coolest.. funniest and professional actors they've ever worked with.
Connan just knows how to communicate so well with his guests . Kathy bates is freaking amazing. You hate her in Misery but love her at the same time in her other roles. She just is amazing at her job.
Another one of the better Steven King adaptations. She has a bit part in the Stand but no one could have saved that movie. She’s my favorite actress of all time
Pure perfection! 🖤 I love her, she's so talented. I wish that she would be in AHS season 7, the show is not the same without her. I wish her all the best things in the world. 😍
I waited on her at Neiman Marcus in Dallas and it was a rainy night she was wearing a rain coat and wasn’t dressed up… of course I recognized her right away! Part of our training at the store was to not bring attention to celebrities so I didn’t announce her to the department! lol.. but I did tell her I was a big fan and how much respect I had for her as an actress honestly! Not a movie star, and actress. Joan Crawford was a movie star Miss Bates is an actress! MY favorite roll is Delores Claiborne although Misery was a scary roll as well. The Family that Preys … another one. Well done Miss Bates! In her defense seldomly did we see big stars dressed like big stars! lol.. Miss Bates said omg I was hoping no one would recognize me! Joan Rivers was in one afternoon on the arm of the man who owned the mall tyvm! A fabulous man much loved locally and she was dressed like a star but she WAS on a date with a very very important man in Dallas and was looking for a Diamond ring I’m certain.
Misery, Dolores Claiborne, Fried green tomatoes...she is on a very short list of the most talented and professional actresses of both previous and this century. There are very few actors who successfully based their career on talent and not the looks.
I can easily watch her films - even if the subject is of less interest - just because she's in it! Cant say the same about a lot of actors! (Brian Dennehy comes to mind too)
I think she looks quite beautiful, and she's an incredibly gifted actress!
Come on kathy your better than this
To me the most underrated actress of all-time.
@@juniorpena4642 My brother in christ, she literally won an oscar.
She's really aged gracefully. Not trying to look 20 or 30, or even 40; just her age. And has remained in the culrural conversation on her terms. A lot to admire.

Natural beauty is the best beauty.
She looks amazing for 71!! Love her
She’s an absolute icon!!!
The first time I saw Kathy Bates was in Misery, and she played that role so well it look me a while get over my dislike of her to watch anything else she was in. Such an amazing talent.
check out her nude scene with jack nicholson in About Schmidt
solrinin The same thing happened to me with Kiefer Sutherland, except I still don't like him . :)
For awhile I felt that way about Bob Gunton, who played the warden in Shawshank Redemption. But his appearance in more movies helped ease that.
The first movie I saw with Kathy Bates was Titanic, and she seemed like a really sweet lady in that movie, then I saw her in Misery and I’m like “damn, this isn’t the Kathy Bates I remember” lol
For me I had the same feelings until I saw her in Titanic. Molly Brown character made me love her after that.
"Oh she used to hobble everybody" 🤣🤣🤣
Frying Enigmas I know that comment killed me
She is a perfect example of winning an Oscar an being underrated.
WE LOVE YOU KATHY
Great in Misery, great in Dolores Claiborne. I believe she is one of the most gifted actresses of all time. And so naturally beautiful
The reason why she’s so grounded and humble is because of her longtime presence in the industry. She was acting in small movie roles and on stage for nearly 20 years, with zero recognition. Yeah she started in the 70s I think.

I highly recommend that you watch Dolores Claiborne. Kathy Bates was even better in that movie.
+Rockart9 Yes, I've seen her in that movie, as well. Perfect example of a great actress!
I always LOVE watching Kathy in all of her performances,..I think she's under rated sometimes...
Kathy is and will always be one of my favorites. She's a legend.
Absolute legend. Her roles in Misery, the very underrated Dolores Claiborne and Titanic are performances for the history books. She's had a great career even beyond those, but I hope she lands another juicy role.
My God I love her. She can break my ankles.
DereMemo burned the stump and cut off a thumb
I know that Mr. Man, I'm not stupid you know!

HeikkiP no one remembers her in titanic
but i do
Dolores was great too
@@appleslover that's because she was "new money"

Amazing in Fried Green Tomatoes
She’s also great in Dolores Claiborne, Stephen King liked her performance in Misery so much that he wrote that role specifically for her
Awesome!
That’s honestly her best role. Dolores Claiborne is so underrated. She acted the hell out of that role.
I know Kathy is primarily known for Misery, but she is also amazing on American Horror Story. Terrifies me every time. Love her ❤
She was hilarious in the water boy
Oh, how much I adore this lady,,,,, She is an amazing actress,,,,, So authentic in her roles,,,,, WOW!
I LOVE Kathy Bates! Her and Anthony Hopkins. I don't want them to ever leave us 😫😢 #stoptime
1:37 she’s actually really pretty! And she aged wonderfully
She looks wonderful and is graceful, talented and intelligent!I love her.
Love Kathy Bates....A REAL Acting Treasure
Beautiful woman inside and out for her age!
She's actually played three King characters. Annie Wilkes, Dolores Claiborne, and a lot of people forget her cameo as Rae Flowers in the 1994 adaptation of The Stand.

Kathy Bates= Legendary
A national treasure, nuff said.
kathy bates. probably my most favorite actress
I literally could not watch movies with her in it for YEARS oddly her character in waterboy broke the spell. SUCH an amazing actress!
Misery and Fried Green Tomatoes. I grew up with and Stephen King. I love them both.
Kathy Bates is so down-to-earth. She's awesome.
Connan just knows how to communicate so well with his guests .
Kathy bates is freaking amazing. You hate her in Misery but love her at the same time in her other roles. She just is amazing at her job.
One of the best in the business
What about Dolores Claiborne. She was great. Underrated movie
Metacognition88 yes.....it is seriously an underrated movie.
Metacognition88 Totally agree....should of had an Oscar for that one, along with Judy Parfitt, Chris Plumber, and Jennifer Jason Leigh.
Now that was phenomenal acting..Kathy Bates should have the stature of Glenn Close and Meryl Streep imo.
totally underrated. All powerfull amazing performances: Jennifer, Kathy, Plummer, Parffit, Strathairn.
Another one of the better Steven King adaptations. She has a bit part in the Stand but no one could have saved that movie. She’s my favorite actress of all time

She was so Beautiful
She is lovely.
My favorite actress
She actually made that movie. Awesome, chilling performance!!!!
Kathy Bates can act. Enough said.
I love her soooo much!!! It's great seeing her this happy + beautiful! 💗
Her character Delphine in AHS Coven is arguably her best role ever. Won a well deserved Emmy for that.
I can easily watch her films - even if the subject is of less interest -
just because she's in it!
Cant say the same about a lot of actors! (Brian Dennehy comes to mind too)
Her performance in Six Feet Under is also phenomenal, cheerful and uplifting
@@luiseduardogutierrezgarcia7474 Thanks for the hint, I will check it out.
Kathy Bates taught me silverware place-setting in two wags of a dog’s tail. I’ll always be grateful for that.
Such a lovely person.
My favorite movie of hers is Ambulance Girl!!! Too funny
Great actress ❤
What a classy, graceful icon she is. My favorite of any role I've ever seen her in. Annie Wilkes.
