This is a Motormouth couple car comparison of the Acura RDX and Audi Q5. The Acura RDX has a 2L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 10-speed automatic transmission, 272 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. Standard AWD in Canada and in the US standard FWD with optional AWD. Premium fuel is recommended. The Audi Q5 comes with a 2L Turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 12 volt mild hybrid system. It has a 7 speed automatic transmission, 261 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque with standard Quattro AWD. Premium fuel is recommended. The RDX has a comfortable and spacious interior. Our test model with the Tech trim, one up from the base, comes with plenty of standard features including, a full leatherette interior in Canada. In the US, you can add the Technology package for $2,900 US to upgrade to perforated Milano leather seats. You will notice there is very little hard plastic in the cabin except in places you would expect it, like the bottom of the doors. The leatherette is very good quality and feels quite luxurious. The RDX base model comes with a 10.2” centre display with the True Touchpad interface, a 7” multi-information display, heated front seats, Apple Carplay and Android Auto, power driver and passenger seats, a panoramic sunroof and a power tailgate. Some differences between the Tech and base trims are features like blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert plus the ELS stereo system. These features are not available on the base model in Canada. In the US, you can add the Technology package to get these features. In Canada, the top two trims get perforated leather, the A-Spec trim has an Alcantara interior and the two base trims leatherette. The heated steering wheel is standard on the top 3 trims and heated rear seats standard on the top two trims. The top trim gets the head-up display and ventilated front seats. There is no wireless charger available on any model. The Q5 offers a modern, clean and simple interior with a well designed and organized centre console. The base model Komfort trim has plenty of standard features like leather seating surfaces with contrast stitching which most luxury brands in this category do not offer on the lowest trim, most have leatherette. The Q5 base model also comes with heated front seats, power driver and passenger seats, wireless Apple Carplay, a 10.1” touchscreen, a 7” driver display and a 10-speaker Audi sound system. The Progressiv trim we tested for an extra $6600 CAD compared to the base model will get you the 12.3” driver display, a panoramic sunroof, heated steering wheel, driver seat memory and ambient lighting. If you add the Comfort package for $1950 CAD, you get ventilated front sports seats and lumbar support. Heated rear-seats are an extra $300 CAD. The top Technik trim comes standard with all the features we just mentioned in the middle trim, but you also get the Bang & Olufsen sound system, a heated and cooled cup holder and a wireless charger. You can add the Bang & Olufsen system to the Premium Plus package in the US for $950.The RDX is longer and a little bit wider than the Q5. The Acura offers more front row legroom, cargo space behind the second row and overall cargo capacity compared to the Audi. They both have the same amount of second row legroom.

The 2021 Envision - Pulling 0.84 average lateral g on the skidpad and putting up a 27.1-second figure-eight lap at 0.63 average g puts the Envision in good standing with the competition. The Acura RDX zipped around the bends almost as quickly, in 27.3 seconds at 0.62 g, and the Corsair 2.0 used 27.7 seconds at 0.67 g. Cousin XT4 recorded 26.3 seconds at 0.66 g.

I looked at both and I ultimately went with the RDX. One reason was the rear cargo space in the RDX was better than the Q5. The second reason was reliability. I was concerned about purchasing the Audi because of the engines burning oil. I would prefer a touch screen but after trying the Acura interface I was ok with it. It's a 1000 times better than the Lexus one. Also the ELS sound system is so awesome and in my apinion better than the B&O in Audi.

I think you’ll like the Q5 better. The Q5 is faster and the DCT transmission is really nice. Honda’s 10 speed has been having problems on the MDX. That touchpad thing is awful… make sure you try it before you buy one. Acura quality isn’t what it once was either and the Q5 is pretty well sorted at this point. Read the forums, I think you’ll find Audi might be more reliable than you’d think, or at least provide some perspective of what issues there are. Common Q5 complaints are things like sunroof rattles or minor water pump leaks that don’t leave you stranded and are picked up during normal oil change services.

That, you actually get to see what your vehicle(Or hard earned Dollars) will look like during your drive on the way back from the office, a road trip, etc..

I currently drive a 2020 prestige package Audi Q5 which is the boyfriends vehicle that has all the bells and whistles. I’m no car expert, but I like how the Audi drives. B&O sound system is great too. The only thing Audi has going more for it than the RDX is it’s full digital cockpit, touch screen infotainment system and electric tilt and telescopic steering wheel. I’m planning on purchasing my own vehicle and the RDX has me interested! More rear legroom than the Q5, it’s just as fast, more trunk space, wireless apple carplay is a plus, no awful looking netted back seat pockets, it’s cheaper to maintain, great reliability, and the one thing no Audi has…REMOTE ENGINE start!! I was also blown away by the ELS sound system. On par with B&O. Drove this Audi for a little over a year and had no major issues with it. Just low tire pressure a few weeks ago. I purchased a new 2020 RDX almost 3 years ago. It's been in the shop every 6 months since then.
The brake pads and rotors have been replaced three times are they still squeal. We've basically given up on having quiet brakes.
After 1 year, the sunroof makes a loud pop when hitting bumps or being on an uneven surface.
The speakers developed a crackle that became so bad the stereo was useable. Unfortunately, the sound was still audible with the stereo off.
Brand new in cold weather the hatch would bind on the weather stripping at the top due to a manufacturing issue with the hatch spoiler.
And now we have an unsolved knock in the front suspension at 30k kms.
We will be trading this car in before the warranty expires in a year.
The best thing about the RDX is the exterior styling and interior space, but there are quality issues all over the place.

I love the Audi’s calm relaxed atmosphere, with a pleasant choices of materials and colours. I especially like that digital display. But Audi’s do look is, albeit classy and ageless... but somewhat boring, because I see them ‘literally’ everywhere all day long. So I don’t know what I’d choose. Maybe neither. My wife has a 2020 Q5 Premium Plus and I have a 2022 Q5 PHEV Prestige. I hated the 2020 infotainment and love the 2022. I've had enough of automotive touchpads, thank you very much. It's ABYSMAL. When discussing it you have to talk about data entry. Try entering an address for navigation, for example. OMG it's ludicrous. Unless the RDX gets a new dash design, forget it. Other than the infotainment system, I LOVE my wife's Q5, and that's why I decided I'd get one for our sole vehicle when her lease is up in early 2023. It's a great 2 person vehicle. Not as much for 4. We just finished a road trip with four people, and we had to block the rear window to get all of our stuff in, and we bought stuff on the trip that we had to ship home. Plus, two of us were 6+ footers, and you can do that in the rear seat only if the one in front of you is short of stature (which was true for us). That's my biggest gripe: I wish Audi had added about 6 inches to the Q5 length. The Q7 is nice but just a bit too large, so an "L" version of the Q5 would be perfect. BTW, the PHEV is wonderful. I can't believe they axed it for 2023.

Take badge snobbery out it and interior design is super important in this very competive segment. The Acura center stack is a catastrophe and they would be better off with the Accord's center stack design IMO. Also- no need to take your hand off the steering wheel to adjust volume. The other knob is for the passenger. I think Audi is just trying to teach you proper ergonomics : )

The Buick Envision 2.0T is putting down a faster 27.5s figure-8 time vs 2019 CX-5 2.5T and 2019 RDX 2.0T at 27.7 in Motor Trend testing. That continues in an Emergency Lane test by Consumer Reports that has the Envision 2.0T doing 55.5 mph while the CX-5(non-turbo) did 54 mph and the RDX 2.0T can only go 52.5 mph.
For 2019 Envision 2.0T gets a new 9-speed and 295 lb-ft of torque, 316 lb-ft of torque on overboost. The twin clutch and torque vectoring AWD is something that Mazda cannot match only able to use brakes on a single on a wheel for torque vectoring. The Hiperstrut, as also seen on Honda Civic Type-R as dual axis strut, eliminates any torque steer under accleration. At a discounted $35K the Envision Prem ll offers heads up display, adaptive high beams and articulating HID, adaptive cruise control with full stopping, tri-zone climate control, sliding rear seat, 12-volt outlet, along with Buick's longer warranty than Mazda.

So C&D 6.6 second 0-60 mph was correct on calling it a Bspec or Cspec. Even Consumer Reports's 7.0s 0-60 was also correct. No sub 6-second time for RDX 2.0T..
