I've sold this pickup, this was a amazing build and rig, I hope this video has helped anyone doing their 3.4 swap.
How much did you get?
@@tmo2798 10k
It haven’t ever being explained in this perfect way
Thank you
Thank you
Good to see it back up and running. Congrats on a successful swap!
Yes! Thank you!
Thanks, for all of the work documenting this. I downloaded your cheat sheet. Looking forward to doing this to my 94 DLX.
awesome man, have fun. !!
Hey Nu, I tried to download your guide but the link is broken. I seen you said you you were going to update it 3 months ago so I was wondering if you got around to it yet? love your content very thorough! thank you!
Excellent video. Glad I found it before I was done with my swap. I will use a lot of these informations thank you very much taking the time to explain everything.
You are welcome!
Best video about 3.4 swap. Thanks
Glad it helped
I like how you kept the factory air cleaner and made it look oem. Great work.
Thanks 👍
Very thorough…thank you for making this video.
Glad it was helpful!
Great info here. I have an 89 single cab 3.0 5sp and i got a auto 3.4 with the full engine harness auto ecu and motor for $150 it has 408k km but i just got it torn down to do a full rebuild before i put it in my truck. Ive also heard i can use my auto ecu but i may get a check engine light
yes, you can use the auto ecu, just have to wire it correctly I believe. good luck
@@NuttyNu yea thats what ive heard, thanks
Yes it's good to have a 3.4 5 vzfe engine & use NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS to go with these 3.4v6 engines & they go Extremely Excellent with these 3.4v6 engines & I'm still running my 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4v6 & with the NGK Iridium Spark plugs since 119,000 Kilometers & now it's done 265,000 Ks & still the same NGK Iridium Spark plugs & these are Brilliant & when I last time I checked the NGK Iridium Spark Plugs it had done 180,000 Kilometers & gave those Spark plugs a wipe with a clean rag & before I screwed the NGK Iridium Spark Plugs back in I added PBC Copper Coat Grease on the Threads of the Plugs & the Spark Plugs were screwed up just nipped up tight & I will never torque these NGK Iridium Spark Plugs up tight & just nipped up Tight & I never tightened up spark plugs up tight & I worked on my wife's PT Cruiser & when checked the Spark Plugs & my said to me the mechanics that did the cambelt complete kit & they put the good Spark plugs in the engine & those plugs were put in awhile ago & I already replaced the coil & leads as they come complete & the engine still had a miss in the engine & when I went to take the Spark plugs out I couldn't undo the Spark Plugs & I don't what Fucken Screwed those Spark Plugs I ended up using a Bloody 1/2 inch Drive power bar with a 1/2 to 3/8s adapter & I was pulling really hard on the power bar just to undo the Spark Plugs & I that I was going to break the Spark Plugs in the cylinder head & Bloody Fucken Wanker that Tightened up these Spark Plugs & I finally managed to undo them they don't have to that Fucken Tight & when I got those Spark plugs out & they were Bloody Champion Iridium Spark plugs & they had Black rings around the white Chinas on all the Spark Plugs & I threw them away Fuck Champion Plugs & they are Shit & I went out & got NGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS & before I put those NGK Iridium Spark Plugs into the cylinder head I put PBC Copper Coat Grease on the Threads of the Spark Plugs & those NGK Iridium Spark Plugs were only nipped up tight & after everything was put back together & I started up the engine & let warm up for awhile & then took the PT Cruiser for a Test Drive what a Bloody Big Difference & no miss in the engine & those NGK Iridium Spark Plugs are still in the PT Cruiser Brilliant Quality Spark Plugs & I'm glad that you did do the SWAP from the 3.0 to the 3.4v6 & I can't understand why the 3.4V6 engine sits higher than the 3.0 V6 engine are they correct 3.4v6 5vzfe engine mounts basically the Toyota is the same shape as my 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf & the only difference is you have a Manual Transmission & I have a 4 speed over drive Automatic Transmission & that is the only difference maybe the Manual Transmission could be sitting higher than the Automatic Transmission as it shouldn't touching the bonnet when close it & I could mount a Supercharger on my 3.4 V6 engine & it will still clear the bonnet as the 1996 Toyota Tacoma 3.4v6 5vzfe engine in the USA some of them are running Superchargers on their 3.4v6 engines & I live in New Zealand my Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4v6 is Right Hand Drive & it is a real shame that we didn't have the latest Tacome here in New Zealand made into right hand drive as they are really nice vehicles & all the latest Toyota Hilux utes all 2.8 turbo diesel engines Bloody Shame even the Tundra utes in the USA are buy far better than the lastest utes & SUVs here in New Zealand & even my 3.4V6 5vzfe engine keeps up with the lastest modern Vehicles here in New Zealand & I lot of times these late model vehicles try to take me on in my 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf & there a lot of times I blow these late model Diesel Turbo Charged utes away big Time & they get pissed off with me & a few years I had a Range Rover 3.5 V8 he gunned it really & do you know what I passed & & blew him well away & left him to the weeds & he would have pissed him right off if he knew that I on had a standard 3.4 V6 under my bonnet & I was still not try when I over took that Range Rover 3.5 V8 & he was really trying to beat me but he fell in Big Time & even a Ford Ranger 3.2 Turbo Charged Diesel & we were at set of lights going onto Motorway & when those lights changed the guy in the Ford Ranger all you could hear his motor revving tl buggery & when those lights Changed I was gone left him for dust & when I got into the middle lane on the motorway & I got caught in traffic awhile later the guy in the Ford Ranger finally went pass me & the look on his face he wasn't a Happy Chappy & again I still wasn't trying & you could see that he was pissed off a 3.2 Turbo Charged Diesel Engine my 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4v6 5vzfe engine blew his Ford Ranger away big time & this Toyota Hilux Surf 3.4v6 5vzfe engine still goes well & so Sir Happy motoring with your 3.4V6 5vzfe engine & with these 3.4 V6 engines I have a way when I do an oil & filter change I can get the whole 6 litres of the old oil out of the 3.4 V6 engine & put back in New 6 Litres oil into the 3.4 V6 engine Kind Regards Peter & as I say again I'm still running the HGK IRIDIUM SPARK PLUGS & the 3.4V6 Engine still doesn't miss a beat & it is still a strong motor & it doesn't smoke either & the Toyota Highlander 3.5V6 & my son owns it & they are quite a powerful engine to & it is a 2017 model but the only thing is it is a East West Engine & it is AWD & lot harder to work on as you have to take whole intake off to change the rear Spark Plugs as if it a North South Engine it would have made it a hell of a lot easier changing the Spark Plugs with NGK Iridium Spark Plugs instead of Denso Spark Plugs that are in the 3.5 V6 as I had taken the 3 front Denso Plugs out to check them you just can't go wrong HGK Iridium Spark Plugs & it is a shame that the 2017 Toyota Highlander 3.5 V6 engine is a East West Engine it just makes it a little bit harder to the intake off to get at the back 3 Spark Plugs out to replace them oh well that's life I suppose
Nice job on a descriptive swap. Hope to do this swap one day
You can do it!
I’m putting brand new 3.0 in my 2nd gen next week
Sweet ride. I love this truck.
I got a knock in my 89 dlx 3.0 auto trans
I live in California that has smog
I found a 3.4 with harness and ECU and exhaust. Would your pdx work for my swap?
I lack resources but might go that route. Thanks for the inspiration.
my pdf will be very similar , depends on your donor rig too!
Great video bro! How about the power steering for the 3.4? Do I re use some things from the 3.0?
use the 3.4 power steering. listed in the video
Who would you recommend SAS my 1st gen tacoma?
🤙🙏 on the clutch info
Always!
😮 Great video..thank you😅
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent video! So in your opinion, is the overall difference and benefit you get from the 3.4 worth the time and expense you incurred?
yes
Hello I like this video a lot and I have a question were can I buy the harness convention because I have a 1993 Toyota 4 runner and I am putting it a engine 3.4
Search Toy Only Swap. They have a website
I have a 1993 toy pickup 4x4 22 re I know the engine mounts will relocate and I needed a 150 trans what else do I need to replace thanks you are great on
Check the video’s description
Did you do a body lift? I read somewhere that it's possible to swap without a body lift but fitment is PITA and hood clearance is an issue.
Hi , No BL. I just cut in inside support of the hood. clears fine
Another thing, donyou recall what where those molded floor mats (kinda looks weathertech but I tought they didnt make for this model)
they are weather tech
Were did you buy the wiring harness adapter? I'm doing swap my toyota 4runner 1994 to 3.4 can you tell me ?
Watch video! He talks about all of that
so is that downpipe from a 3.4 application? I'm buying a crossover but I'm debating if I should have everything after crossover done by an exhaust shop or if i should buy the tacoma downpipe and modify it. i dont know how to weld or anything but I know a metal place that does.. however they would be operating under my instruction and im not really comfortable with that
3.4 stock cross over needs to be modified,
are you happy with those aftermarket led headlights?
yes
If you deleted the ADD for your from diff actuator, how do you activate it? What exactly is involve to delete it? Did you install manual lockers?
please watch my other add video on that subject
Can you please share the list in a word or spread sheet document with the parts numbers? Thanks for the info

Time 21:48 you said to cut 2 feet of pigtail on those plugs. Which side did you cut? 2 feet on the female or the male side?
Hi, you want to cut the pigtail 2 feet from the plug end to the main harness off the engine side,
A little late but have you gotten around to the evap box delete? The previous owner of my 3.4 Tacoma messed with the evap box quite a bit. Seems to be missing some critical components / lines already. Did you do this delete and if so, did it have any real effect on mileage?
Thanks
no, I left it as is
at 22:54 what benefits come from having a cold air intake instead??
I dont recommend a cold air intake, not for off road at least.
Question, at 20:48, what is the button on the far left right below the vent? I bought a 4 runner last year and I don't know what that button does. It has no sign on it, just plain black.
That’s the clutch start button.
@@NuttyNu I've never used it and my vehicle is 5 speed. Depressing the actual clutch pedal starts my truck...interesting
have a 1936 dodge truck I have a 3400 with 120 ml you think I can do the swap if I get instructions from you I have every thing to do the swap have a whole truck you think you can help
no, I dont work on Dodge trucks, sorry
@@NuttyNu just dodge body whit toyota power that's all you don't think its possible
I’m doing this swap to a 1989 extra cab 2wd automatic.
I have a 3.4 with 2wd automatic tranny.
I want to use the 3.4 and 3.4 automatic tranny.
Any suggestions?
No I don’t
@@NuttyNu thanks bud. I love to watch your videos. A lot of cool info.
I may have missed it, but approximately how long did this take you?
It took about two-3 months. Just gathering parts and etc. time frame can vary.
Heyyy this is kind of long shot but I bought a 3.4 swapped '90 pickup and I'm having a lot of trouble finding the correct dipstick. I don't have much option in the way of contacting the people who did the swap. The dipstick is in front of the truck I've seen some of them that have to have a new hole drilled in the side. The stick that came with it has been chopped off a lil to fit and it will show a tiny bit of oil only when perfectly full, so I am able to know if it's full full but it's not ideal. I feel out of options so I'm throwing paint seeing if someone online has a thought. Can't seem to find a forum addressing this. Thanks!
I've tried a 3.0 dipstick and 3.4 dipstick and they both stick out an inch or so. I assume my chopped one was chopped to address that.
You need a dipsticks out of a T100 3.4
You need a t100 3.4 dipstick. Goes on the side of engine. I’ve made video about that
Watch my 3.4 video playlist
@@NuttyNu thank you! I have watched your video on the drilling I just thought mine was different configuration, you seem to make some of the beat 3.4 swap content I appreciate it a lot, and appreciate you responding, it's all a lil confusing to me only a semi car guy. And it's a fairly specific thing I've asked mechanics and they have no idea.
So they were supposed to drill in the side but they left the dipstick in the front knowing it wouldn't be effective?
So I have an auto 3.0 94 and I want to put a 3.4 in it. U recommend switch to manual and 3.4? Or just keep it auto?
Keep the rig auto. It’ll be simpler. Get a auto 3.4 for your donor!
@@NuttyNu thank u I was hoping u would say that. Can’t wait to get around to it.
Do you know what your total cost for parts on this project minus the donor vehicle?
1500, watch my video talking about the final cost and break down, its in the 3.4 vlog playlist
@@NuttyNu Thank you. I'll watch that video soon.
I have a 95 4x4 auto I got a 2001 non 4x4 auto will the trans mount
no
What would I need to make it work I thought they bolt right up 🤦
@@gbrlmendoza2 sorry, they will bolt u. My correction
Is this swap possible with automatic transmission?
My 1991 4runner has 3vze with auto transmission, but all the swaps on UA-cam have manual transmission.
Yes auto work same as. Best to find a auto 3.4 for the donor
@@NuttyNu does it make a difference if donor had manual or automatic transmission?
@@alirezarostamifard6404 the ecu will matter. Try to match your rig that’s getting the swap
Who is the coolest nutty euheuheuh
Hey where did you get the clutch hose
eBay
@@NuttyNu do you
Have lino
@@NuttyNu link
Great Video, Thanks! The only thing I might add is to be careful where you get your engine. There are scammers claiming to have quality used JDM Inspected and Tested motors. Here's my experience with that. ua-cam.com/video/Bz1lks6rwhQ/v-deo.html The Juicy parts start around the middle of the video.
The NGK's wires suck. The fit like crap. At my shop we just install Toyota OE wires. They come with all the clips and BS, fit correctly and it's like 20-25 bucks more.
ngk worked gos so far for me, no complaints here, OEM are nice too
Garbage ass wires 🗑️ Yota wires all day
The File i can’t dowloaded
Sorry. I need to update it
