The other Running Scare, from 1986, with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. I watched that movie well over 30 times.
The man from nowhere and I saw the devil are my two fave South Korean films. The surprise watching I saw the devil thinking it was some supernatural film to finding out what the movie was about was amazing
Memories of Murder (2003), the good the bad the weird (2008), the Chaser (2008), a Dirty Carnival (2006), New World (2013) are examples of the golden age of South Korean films 2003 - 2013.
First; Peanut is cool! She looks like a sweetheart. Dude, I LOVE your content! Always enjoy your listings for their honest approach to the benefits and caveats of the suggestions. And... your humility is appreciated as well. So many reviewers are full of themselves, as though we should all agree with their choices. You don't do that; you give details and why we may or may not like a movie, then tell us why you recommend it. Refreshing always. Take care of your pup. These long-time friends (family members) give us so much and deserve whatever we can give them. Kudos to you both. Thanks for the reviews!
I'm a big fan of South Korean films. I saw the movie I Saw the Devil and it became my number 1 film knocking Train to Busan to number 2. I think I'll watch it again. Great list so thank you for the suggestions.
Thank you for pumping Running Scared! I have told soo many ppl about it who had never seen it and they all loved it. It really is a hidden gem of a movie, one of my favorites.
Holy crap, you were right running scared is an outstanding f’ing movie! I can’t believe I missed this earlier. Thanks for wading through all the wheat and the chaff to find the good ones! This is my favorite channel!
Things to do in Denver is one of my all time favorites. Andy Garcia is such a smooth character. Boat Drinks! Running Scared is also so killer, the parallels of playing out like Grim Fairy Tales makes it so amazing. The Hansel and Gretel scene is creepy AF.
STILL the most underrated channel and host on youtube!!! You are so good at this, Darren, how do you not have 10 billion subs??? I just discovered Scott Adkins in The Debt Collector (great chemistry between the leads) so I'm really looking forward to watching Avengement!
JCVD has been sitting in my need to be watched pile for far too long. Thanks for the push. Also, Running Scared is an awesome flick. When I think of Walker it’s this movie that comes up first.
Dark Blue, Soldier and Breakdown are three of the best movies Kurt Russel has ever done, excluding Big Trouble in Little China which really just stands on its own. Side Effects is also a really good movie.
Executive Decision is another non-Carpenter film that really holds up, and is a great "Jack Ryan " type role for Russell. And yes, Breakdown is an underrated gem.
Big thanks for the really helpful recommendations. Some I've come across on Prime yet haven't watched and others I've never heard of. Especially appreciate the hard to find foreign suggestions.
There are a lot of movies on this list I need to watch. While I have seen the D&D movie because people were raving about it so much, I didn't love it as much as others. Yes it was a good movie with some funny parts but I don't think it deserved such a great big hype as it got.
I’ll tell you what, even if your videos somehow do end up out of circulation, you’ve done _such_ a good job building your brand, I’ll end up looking you up when I want to hear some good/ rare/ strange/ scary/ even weird movie recommendations. And just like that, right back into circulation. And I won’t ask you to sort of cut your own neck so to speak, but can anyone recommend, like, movie UA-cam channels they might like to check out? Particularly like horror movie recommendations? I’ve seen a few here and there talking about their favorites and whatnot but idk just looking for something more obscure. Something maybe not available for streaming, something worth questing for watching.
SPOOKY ASTRONAUTS & FLICK CONNECTION are the 2 UA-cam channels I absolutely rely on. Both give information that is extremely helpful when choosing what to watch. GHOST PIRATE seems like a nice guy.
COHERENCE IS FKN INSANE!!! I watched it during the early part of the pandemic. THAT MOVIE IS FKN MIND-BLOWING! A REAL MIND-FK!!! So cool to see someone else who's seen it.
Thank you for your channel Darren! Thank you for including foreign films and a speedometer for foreign films. I have an odd attention span in that I understand foreign films reflect the culture they from... as an example I own two versions of the 47 ronin story from Japan. Talk about slow burn films. The two I have are Readers Digest equivalents, on is about two hours and forty five minutes abd the longer is over three and a half hours. Yes, one needs to bein a mood for them... but they have such beauty and show insight to the popular current Japanese take on this foundational story of their past. These films open up minds to how a culture thinks and lives according to firmly held beliefs. Keep up the good work from a newer subscriber
Great FLICK CONNECTION Darren. Love to see AVENGEMENT in your recommendations; without doubt Scott Adkins at his finest. Many thanks for sharing with us. Great to see Peanut still good health and enjoying Sundays 👍👍👍
Anytime anybody asks me to suggest something to watch, my go to suggestion is dear zachary. Best doc ive ever seen, and no ones ever heard of it which is a shame. First video of yours i watched you mentioned it, and i knew then that id like this channel.
Thanks First time viewer. I agree Korean flicks are fresh and surprising at times. There is a good one about a group of North Korean hit squad who are sent south. End up developing as their own form of family.
The two best movies on this list are both from Korea. Burning and I Saw The Devil. Both of those movies are masterpieces imo. Burning is like a puzzle or a book, it’s subtle and complex and lot going on underneath the surface. I Saw The Devil is just insane in every way. Absolutely brutal. Along with The Wailing and Parasite it’s one of my favorite SK movies of all time Coherence is killer as well for a low budget movie. The plot really doesn’t call for a big budget anyways. It has an eerie vibe that’s pretty cool. As far as newer stuff I thoroughly enjoyed Inside and Bones & All
Looking forward to "Burning," "Dungeons and Dragons," and "Running Scared." Still saying nope to "Bones and All." Recommending "Tell No One" and "I Saw the Devil." Usually not my genre, but you got me good this time, Darren!
Just started to watch and, I don't know about their movies but Prime does have pretty good Shows. Including The Boys, Reacher and Invincible. Cheers from France! 🍻
Funny, I almost never go on again cause I hate navigating it and I don’t ever think of acting great coming from it, so far you listed some bangers, in my second video from your channel and is a breath of fresh air. You mention some real gems.. some I’ve seen , some I haven’t but the beauty is they’re not really mentioned often. Great taste, Definitely my style .
Seems like a Solid List. Gonna check a bunch of them out. 😉👍 And “I Saw the Devil” is nearly a masterpiece that I watched more than a year ago from one of your previous lists. 😮 OMG Everyone, Begin Here!!!
Try Bittersweet Life, also from Korea. It's a mob/hitman movie and one of my favorites. Also if you haven't seen The Good, the Bad and the Weird, that is a must see from Korea.
Thanks for doing the leg work to make the recommendations. When I looked for Nekrotronic it didn’t find it and the D&D movie was a rental - not included with the Prime Video ‘free’ movies. I think you said that these were included in the Prime Video but it may depend on your region I guess. Cheers
… in the USA. In the UK, I can give a heads up it seems to be a bit of Johnny Depp season and while the usual fun hallow films are there, there’s also some that I’d never heard of and worth a try - less mainstream as he will give anything a go.
If not for you I would have not looked at Nekotronic twice. Huge Wyrmwood fan and this film was a perfect low fi sci-fi/horror. Perfect for a tropical storm Saturday night viewing.
I have not seen or heard of Running Scared.. I was not even aware of Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves..I Saw the Devil .. Never heard of it. Go figure. Thanks for the recommendations!!!
Avengement is amazing. It's pretty much my go to if I can't find anything to watch. Dungeons and Dragons I loved. Even tho I used to play D&D when I was younger, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did. It was a really fun watch. Running scared is probably my favorite Paul Walker movie.

Thanks Darren, your reviews are the best for my family and I .. 5 Stars *
Running Scared is one of my favorite movies.
We love you bro. Thank you.
I saw Dear Zachary years ago and it broke me. I sometimes think about watching it again, but it's takes so much out of you
The other Running Scare, from 1986, with Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines is one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. I watched that movie well over 30 times.

Oh no, the answer is Ipswich clams. Billy scene watching Jeopardy.

A Tale of Two Sisters is one of my all time favorite movies, South Korea has so many excellent films in multiple genres. 😎
Thank you for pumping Running Scared! I have told soo many ppl about it who had never seen it and they all loved it. It really is a hidden gem of a movie, one of my favorites.
Thanks for including a couple of low-budget recommendations. Secondly, I saw The Devil is truly mindblowing for any one new to Korean cinema.
We always appreciate your reviews, and totally jive with your assessments.
Running Scared was a wild movie. I loved how they dealt with " that couple" . Definitely worth watching.
Holy crap, you were right running scared is an outstanding f’ing movie! I can’t believe I missed this earlier. Thanks for wading through all the wheat and the chaff to find the good ones! This is my favorite channel!

I constantly look forward to your videos, Darren.....always give me a list of movies to watch/rewatch. Thanks for your efforts and acumen!
The original "Running Scared" 1986 is an awesome comedy buddy cop movie. 😉🙂😋
Thank you! I see 6 movies to check out that I’ve never heard of! I always enjoy your channel.
I have to say this list of movies is one of your better top shelf recommendations. Thx for the research, I will be entertained for days.

running scared is so intense, but very dark. Paul and Vera do an amazing job as do the kids in the movie, and of course Chaz P kills it!!
Good list as always. Curious not to see The Wailing on here with your South Korea appreciation.
Your recommendations are always top notch👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Thank you for your hard work
Nekrotronic was surprisingly good. Excellent recommendation.
I was pleasantly surprised as well.
I had an 18 year old Jack Russell, Mac, who passed in March. Peanut made me smile. Senior dogs are special. Great list.
Dark Blue, Soldier and Breakdown are three of the best movies Kurt Russel has ever done, excluding Big Trouble in Little China which really just stands on its own. Side Effects is also a really good movie.
