Mike your amazing brother. I have watched you for years and learned more about farming and farm life than I ever imagined. You have a way with explaining things which most can appreciate. I’d love to meet you one day and just have a cup of coffee over some lunch.
Coming from someone that is not a farmer I just love everything about it, watching the mustard crop flow from the header into the combine is so mesmerizing lol I'm sure it gets old after thousands of acres but still lol
When I was in college back in 1988, I had the goal to get into the agriculture industry to help farmers because I farmed on the family farm, and at that time, it was clear the manufacturer had no clue what farmers needed. Now, seeing this with software, it is still an issue. I am dual-trained in Engineering and IT with software development. But I doubt I would still get into manufacturers because they have little regard for making implements reliable. I have a great appreciation for Big Budd, which strives to build implements that are comprised of off-self parts.
14:21 you’re welcome Brother Mike you teach me important information to one day inherit my Fathers Farm. I need all the valuable information you have please. I don’t know much other than what I learned from you all doing UA-cam but I especially appreciate the level of thoroughness that you give us. Thank you very much ❤️ if you ever get here to Tulalip Washington State North of Seattle I’ll teach you about Salmon Fields 😏 where I’m a commercial Tribal Fisherman. Happy to! ❤️🖖🏼🇺🇸
I do enjoy the explanations of the complexities of farming from both the science of the grow, the financial aspect of planting, growing, and harvesting, and your opinion and reasoning for equipment. Thank you.
Mike, we came from s series John deere with a lot of software and technical issues last couple years to 9250s this year. We've had zero issues with an all around better combine. Fd250 Macdon headers. Absolutely love them👌👌
Mike, I was watching Haydenon Harvest on UA-cam and he had a it seems like the same electrical problem. His problem was his radio. one of his subscribers had that problem and told him how to fix it, he changed his radio problem went away.
I just finished my yellow mustard the other day, and just like I thought it ran about 4 bushels an acre. Now that depends on the dockage percentage also.
That issue is happening a fair bit on newer software versions on any gen 4. Seen it fixed by doing a quarantine reboot done by holding down on the exclamation mark for 5 seconds to do get a 3rd option, which will quarantine the bad data. Failing that the gen 4 may need to export to a usb or OPS center and factory reset using the file manager advance settings tab (circle button with an arrow pointing to a dot found on the brown title bar) to clear those kind of application issues. those screens seem to like a factory reset every couple years for whatever reason.
the other morning my combine monitor locked up. My CSR who is a genius tried different things remotely but no success. He then said to turn off the power switch by the batteries for a minimum 3 minutes. I did that and everything works great.
Mike, do you know the reason why canola contamination into mustard is such a big deal? I was reading that mustard is considered a primary allergen, but canola is not.
I don’t know what varieties of canola Mike grows, but here in good old Germany, 99.9% of the canola is hybrids. You can’t regrow them, cause they would yield about nothing.
@@massimopecile9666 Then you grow in-line bred variety’s. F3 hybrid-generation, which is the one you harvest, loses almost all good properties for producing a good crop.
Overall Mike, does the combination of all the new technology today make it worthwhile sticking with it compared to the production capabilities of the older generation of machinery?
It’s not about yield… it’s about profit per acre. We grow 200 bushels corn but a 60 bushels Soybeans field will still produce more profit at the end of the day.
Is yield the only reason mustard isn’t grown in the south? Would it grow well as a winter annual if you go far enough south? The crop has fascinated me quite a bit and it does very well as a fall cover crop in the temperate regions.
I think Mike just admitted that he should have brought New Holland combines .... with 50 ish years of Twin Rotor development. I am not color bashing .... just highlighting the right machine for the job.
Haydenonharvest said his mom was having software issues and having to reboot storage issues with hers maybe it's software of death issues like they do with phones to make you buy new ones lol
How much do you make a year? What’s your net worth? That’s the question equivalent of asking a farming how many acres they grow… Same with asking ranches how many head they run
@@SirHuddy Your comment doesn‘t make any sens u clown 🤡 , why do u think does he have it on display on his website? Cause he is too insecure about it? Definitely not! U a real genius, I was asking cause he HAS IT ON DISPLAY ON HIS WEBSITE, and since I follow him for quiet some time and it hasn‘t changed on the website since the addition of the north farm I was just curious how many Acres have been added. So maybe use your brain before commenting stuff like that.
He has mentioned it is roughly between 40-50k acres on the southern farm. The northern operation is on the smaller side since it is seperate from the southern farm.
We've been having problems with cell phones also. So I think it's gonna get worse. Because they say our communications could go down at any time, say it down.
“I will throw this monitor thru this combine if it’s froze”
Mike we’ve all been there at some point with this newer technology and it’s glitches. 😂
😆🤷🏼♂️
Love listening to Mike talking about his crops. He’s forgotten more about them than most people know

Versatile is another great brand with component parts for majority of the tractor.
Glad you’re cutting mustard and not cutting the cheese!!!
🤣

Go to a claas you will be one level happier yet gain massive capacity over single rotor combine !
Good to see you're not getting "too old to cut the mustard"
Mike is going to go whistlin diesel on the monitor😂
Enjoy your videos👍. Learn a lot
Took many loads of mustard seed in the late 90's early 2000's from Humboldt Sk to many places in the usa to make Mustard.
Well intercropping is said o be one of the latest and greatest farming practices .
Love following you around as well, just love your videos.
Really enjoyed the winter vid of how crop becomes seed. That was a delicious vid and as always always learning from you
Its friday!! Happy Wkend Mike!!
Great video Mike
Great awesome video mike , love all your videos,

What happened more often:
1) an ideal plugging or breaking down or
2) your John deere needing a reboot?
🤔... That's a good one...
Nice to see the harvest 😊 here in Michigan
DABBLING IN THE CANOLA!!!!! Omg! I'm just lovin it...🤣🌎🌈🚬
Did you have to weld up the frames on those x9 yet? Seen at one dealership 9 of the x9 waiting to get there frames welded back up
These people don't know what they are talking about. Good job Mike!!!!!
Great Job Mike
"Yah" Air flow !

At what point will Deere start writing software that's fit for purpose?
But Mike, is the price high, because of the shortage of mustard earlier.
I wonder if Mustard would grow in Minnesota, hope you get the combine fixed
good mustard lesson
Does it possibly pay to clean the mustard just prior to selling so you can have the oats separate to sell to either grain company or cattle farmer ?
the other morning my combine monitor locked up. My CSR who is a genius tried different things remotely but no success. He then said to turn off the power switch by the batteries for a minimum 3 minutes. I did that and everything works great.
In the Rural Municipality I grew up in Mustard was banded due to years of wild mustard issues. May have changed now.

I re use canola seed from mine and its the same.. try it
Mainly due to patents on the seed
he probably grow monsanto canola that why he need to buy seeds every year

Mike, why grow a crop of low yield when you could grow a better yielding crop on the same land? Love your vids. keep them coming.
Did you not bother to watch the whole video?

Maybe try intercropping the oats and mustard deliberately? Might be an interesting test plot
John Deere Icon of Death lol! I will pray for your soul Mike...maybe you need an exorcist instead of a tech
Have you tried disconnecting the second monitor and just run with the main monitor. Seems like the second monitor is causing rebot issues
Trust us Mike. We do not expect to learn anything from you. But we will watch.anyway. Thanks.
Cool shirt 👍
Why green always has some issues with the software? Most of the videos of farmers running green has some kind of software issues.
You said it’s a north and south combine problem does that mean that it’s something Deere could fix in an update in exchange for some of your dollar?

great stuff
We running John Deere tractors and they always throwing up error codes lately
How often does your screen having to restart happen?

Nothing is more frustrating than monitor issues
You need Welkers grain cleaner.
Magnifique x9 1000 et la coupe est équipés et les grands champ 😮😊😅😂
I will take our red combines any day of the week over those green ones.
Morning
You need a mother bin!!!
Is there a big difference with mustard and cannelo ..huge difference with brown mustard in north and south
Canola would probably yield 2-3 times more
Haydenonharvest said his mom was having software issues and having to reboot storage issues with hers maybe it's software of death issues like they do with phones to make you buy new ones lol
why cant you just plant canola only or is that to risky?
Are modern machines far less reliable than older ones? They seem terrible!
Hey you guys , this JD tech ain’t all it’s cracked up to be
Wheat, Canola, Wheat, Canola? shouldnt there be at least a 4 year pause with canola?
I know of some people who do snow canola snow rotation for past twenty years
So you've got your hydraulic problem. Figured out. Because the other day, you couldn't get your head to go down.
Different combine, different location.
All these electronics are problematic, give me an IHC 1480 with a 30 foot front any day ☺
What if we are too old? . . . to cut you know what. Those software glitches can be annoying.
Is that a 45 ft. header?
50’ Hinged flex head
I’d lose it if a monitor is stopping me from harvest. Atleast u can keep going. But Jeepers so annoying
Just call that inter cropping
They should just put a program in so when something goes wrong it just sends a tech lol. I love John deer but all this tech crap gets old.
That's crappy stuff
John Deere X9 $1+ million combine...
Yeah...Right
The computer problem is the pits. I could not handle the problem you put up with 🤢🤢🤢
👋😊
Yo Mike, how many Acres do you and your family farm overall? South and North farm combined? (I think your website is not up to date :D)

Typical john deere auto stear,
Why is it illegal to clean canola seed?
Because the canola seed is hybrid grown by the seed companies so they own the patent on the seed
It is unacceptable for a million dollar machine to employ such poor hardware and software. JD has no shame.
Cut the cheese please...and it smells so good
