I went to see the UP4014 Big Boy Steam Locomotive and of course there were side adventures. First we went to the Main St crossing in Rochelle on the BNSF Aurora Sub where I saw a CP Run-through Coal Train. Then I took pictures of BNSF 1706 which is a Burlington Northern Unit.
We then go to the diamonds by the UP westbound signal bridge to see an insane Lashup with 3 SD70M's, a GP60, and an SD70ACe. I made sure to stay back unlike some other people.
Then we go to see 4014 in G3 which took an HOUR AND FOURTY MINUTES to get in. We stayed there for like 45 minutes and I also saw MWGWG pull into G3 and an NS unit that came off of IG4G3 go to the Wye in the Southern most part of G3.
After we got out of G3 we went to Brown Ave in Ashton, IL and ZBRG2 snuck up on us. After that we waited for CNASH-9 (North Antelope Mine, WY to Sheboygan, WI Coal Loads) which had the 1983 trailing with the Nose facing west which gave some very nice opportunities to get good photos. After about 45 minutes and me taking photos of the crossing it finally was visible in the distance. Another railfan from Ohio came to see it too.
After that we pretty much chased it until it stopped in Creston. I got some pictures at the I39 Northbound Entrance/Southbound Exit ramp traffic light of 1983 slowing to a stop. But anyway this day was quite insane and fun and I hope to do something like this again.
