The crowd's reaction says it all. Really performs and sells the routine. Finally someone who takes the artistry part seriously as well as the gymnastics.
It's a great routine, but the audience is mainly reacting b/c of her status as a World Champion. They also reacted like this when Gabby Douglas first returned in 2015.. and her routine had 0% performance and 0% artistry.

I feel for her. At first I didn’t, but imagine how it feels when you work your ass off & the only questions media asks you are about Simone (“are you in awe of her?” “can you beat her?”), and when the media DOES mention you, they downplay your achievements in order to prop up Simone (“Biles is 6 points ahead of second-place Morgan Hurd, the reigning world champion”)
liceous The only time they asked Morgan about Simone was at Classics, when Simone was coming back. No one asked her if she can beat Simone, that's simply asinine to even pose that question. They asked her how does it feel to be competing with Simone back.
As for achievements, she has one and they've been calling her the reigning all around World Champ. Calling Ragan the reigning National Champ and calling Simone the reigning Olympic champ. So where is the downplay? Is that not her correct title. I swear.

As much as I love Simone, I wish they'd stop doing that. It's disrespectful to the other gymnasts since they work hard too. It's not Simone's fault either since she has actually looked annoyed before from all the constant attention and she's friends with the other gymnasts so why compare them? We know Simone's on another level, but Morgan's artistry is beautiful to watch and she's amazing too

Unrelated, but I wanted to say I'm happy Simone and Morgan r easing tension with each other. It's obvious their going to go to world with each other. Hopefully they both learned their mistakes and become good friends!

Nobody knows for sure...just rumors at the moment, but Simone made some tweets and Morgan was in an instagram post. Morgan and Alyona (?) were in a pic that said something like "b***h it's not about you"...basically Morgan was jealous that Simone easily kicked her butt in competition despite Morgan being world champion and Morgan knows she can never match Simone. Supposedly Morgan and the rest of the top girls of this quad all were alienating Simone. Simone made some tweets to her millions of followers saying "get your world champion, she's the problem" leading to lots of her fans making racist and horrible threats to Morgan. Ashton Locklear even liked some of the tweets saying horrible things about Morgan. Simone behaved very childishly too, tweeting stuff like "I'm not going to talk about the horrible, horrible things that this evil bully did to me, because I keep things private and professional" lol....

The leotards just get more elaborate! I remember the first time I saw a less traditional, stoned leotard was the ones Lilia Podkapayava wore in the 96 olympics, at the time they looked so unusual & fancy to me. Lol and they had just a couple stones.

What is the music?
This is what ARTISTIC gymnastics should be. Real dance along with power. I like Simone, but her dance is terrible. Her tumbling is magnificent, but no artistry or elegance at all. Chalk it up to the open-ended scoring system. It's destroyed the sport.

She's an all around champion, so if you think you can do better, please I urge you to try.

This is so basic and boring after seeing Simone's routine.
Egyptian_Thoth yo, they are both totally different people, they have different styles. I personally don’t think her routine is boring, I think it fits her well. She’s got such nice lines and her hand movements are very pretty. She’s more of a slower gymnast maybe than Simone. Simone is very powerful, and has Olympic medals under her as Morgan is still young and getting up there.
Simone stans are really attacking Morgan about this tweet.
Simone and Morgan reminds me of Shawn and Nastia. While Simone and Shawn undeniably possessed the more powerful tumbling skills, Morgan and Nastia defines artistry and grace in their routines. It’s not ‘boring’, it’s simply their own unique style and take.
Both Simone and Morgan are incredible gymnasts, and are assets to the US Gymnastics team.

Egyptian_Thoth are you joking? Simone has difficulty but her choreography is the same hand movements over and over again. This is actually refreshing to see someone who has good choreography and hard difficulty as well.
