  • Tomales Point Trail at Point Reyes National Seashore is a stunning hike that takes you 10 miles through a Tule Elk Preserve with the Pacific Ocean on the west and Tomales Bay to the East. There is no shortage of wildlife to view as pelicans soar overhead and elk graze mere yards from you.
    Trip Details

    Miles: 10.23
Time: 4.5 hours with lunch at the point and lots of site seeing the elk
    Elevation Gain: 1,283 ft
    Trail Type: Out and Back
Trail Crowdedness: Crazy busy on the weekends and summer days. I prefer to get there at sunrise to beat the crowds.
Best Season to Hike: Springtime the grasses are a vibrant green and there are lots of little elk calves around. The Fall is rutting season so be weary of aggressive bulls, but it's amazing to hear the bugling and watch them heard their cows around.
