Fun fact, the reason why the piobaireachd of donald dhu is a march is because a lot of the early marches were just adaptations of piobaireachd's into a marching style before marching music became so standardized as we have it today. The piobaireachd of donald dhu, being a piobaireachd, is actually very much possible to play as a piobaireachd and offers quite a unique style. Just some awesome information my Pipe Major relayed to me some time ago :)
Neil… you’ll need to be adopted by the “Scottish Tourism Board”… I think you would be an outstanding representative! (Ps, I’d appreciate a copy of the tune when you make it available - with thanks!).
Great video Neil. Torwood Castle and the Tappoch Broch together my favourite locations. Played the pipes on Tappoch Broch 23rd August1972 to celebrate my son's birth. Yours aye, Lachlan. ex 1st Bn A&SH.
Remember this one well. Great to see and hear again!
The comments have spoken! The history lessons behind the tunes are well received. Brilliant on all accounts. Adding this to the list to learn.
