As a quick heads up : I think the game is great BUT as far as content goes it seems like the current build is reasonably short if you don't get sucked into crafting awesome items. Just a warning since I failed to bring it up in the video and didn't have time to edit something back in. Good luck gaming!
Hey man, great vid. i been playing tons of this game, and you can in fact "feed" items you don't like to your equipped items to raise their stats, once you reach the max item level that is. Also another cool feature most people don't realize is you can actually have 2 weapons equipped at once, and switch between them at any time by pressing F. So buildcrafting is fun with that. Anyways good overview on the game!
All it takes for this game to go to the next level would be the implementation of quests and story. One of the biggest benefits of a story in these kind of games is they give you an idea of what fights to look forward to.
Ooh, I remember checking out the demo after your coverage and the game was fine but just needed that little something. Seems the dev really sat down and turned it up. Will have to check back in on it.
19:00 if you look in the top right, there is an indicator when you go to your character screen (or whatever that screen is called) that tells you how much stuff you need to go up a level. It isn't on the gate, but there is one.
Seems like a fun game, but with a LOT of things that come up short, which is a bit odd to be honest because on one hand, some of the mechanics and stuff seems top tier and something i'd expect out of way higher end games, and then some like the UI, art direction, movement etc, seem a bit low quality, but hey it just released in EA, and since the dev clearly is capable of creating high level content, i hope they keep it up and improve a ton :)
@@TheFunLuvnCRIMINAL but both of those employ thousands of employees within a rigid structure and deliver “finished” games. Whereas this is one guy and putting a game into EA on Steam, a lot of stuff can and will most likely be changed and improved as time goes on from the input of players.
Cool to see this being covered again! (though surprised this happened before Qud 😁). My current backlog will delay me playing this for a while but definitely wanna give it a try at some point. Do I remember right that this game had a 3rd person camera setting, similar to Skyrim?
Oh man, this looks heavily inspired by Vermintide/Dying Light melee combat and I am ALL FOR games iterating on that. If I was working on Elder Scrolls 6 combat, I'd be taking serious notes right now, it is the future of FPS gaming.
Looks really cool! I wonder if you'll get a chance to unlock new 'armors' with different styles/abilities, maybe something akin to Warframe or whatnot. Could have other suits that focus on different elemental abilities or something? That would be pretty sweet. I'm looking forward to seeing where this one goes!
Isometric gaming allows developers to hide danger just off screen - this is why that and FPS/3PS can't ever work the same. You could see the 30+ succubus waiting with baited fireballs in the next room instead of going in and running out trying to thin the herd. It would have been better if Diablo had been chosen instead of Warcraft but they just HAD to have their PvP in WoW.
I'm not a huge fan of first-person melee combat... except for Vermintide. This definitely looks to have Vermintide energy which is a good thing indeed.
One thing that makes the game look cheesy is the static sword hold animation just straight up. Should be held in an angle while just standing still since it's two-handed, then when you walk, it should go to your side and move up and down while in stride. After swing, held in both hands for a second or so, then switch to the walk/run animation.
0:18 first thing in my head as be "what the f*ck is this sword ?!?" For what is see latter, it's sadly for me a "try to do too much different things, and fall short in each", becoming mediocre in all. For now. It is pretty and bloody! So bonus point for that. And the moves with the weapons are ok.
This game looks epic! Not a fan of horror games. But the combat and open world aspect looks fun. I would play it if it was not horror/zombie etc. I love that you can break the pots. They should definitely have a random chance to hide loot in there. Or maybe it can be a health or stamina orb.
This is why I like indies: *_Demos_* Let me get some idea about WTH you're presenting so I can buy in and get excited. AAA for all the money they're wasting these days should figure this out.
Your first pass over this game didn't really do it for me. THIS pass actually looks far more interesting. Definitely one to watch for sure, perhaps after it gets a little more content as of your pinned comment.
They got rid of that weapon bobbing! But the UI is still... eh. It has this weird low-res, low-FPS effect that is offputting. Maybe just a traditional healthbar would be fine? And then the giant squares on-screen showing your hotkeys, maybe just make it a rectangular hotbar. Just some suggestions if the dev sees this.
A bit of Warframe influence as well, maybe? I like it. Looks good. Although, I'm not sure about the base... it seemed a bit complicated in the video. Also, I don't know how big your inventory is, but it looks like a bit of a backpack spammer.
Oh boi. There is literally NOTHING from Skyrim and even LESSER from Diablo. VOIN is a fast-paced, first-person hack-and-slash action RPG with precise dodging and counterattacks, unlike Diablo's isometric, cooldown-based combat or Skyrim's slower, exploration-driven playstyle VOIN’s combat relies on real-time dodges, parries, and skill-based counters, similar to Dark Souls, not the click-based or spell-heavy combat of Diablo or Skyrim It features roguelike mechanics with runs, loot collection, and high-stakes risk vs. reward, unlike Skyrim’s quest-driven open world or Diablo’s linear dungeon-crawling progression While Skyrim is a vast open-world RPG and Diablo is gothic horror, VOIN focuses on dark fantasy dungeons with relentless combat rather than exploration or narrative VOIN draws from Doom, Dark Souls, and roguelikes, not from the open-world adventure of Skyrim or the loot-based dungeon crawling of Diablo so, You couldn't have thought of a worse title.
I wasn't sure at first, the visuals kinda turn me off, but the more I watched the more fun it looks. The environments look ok but the enemies feel generic.
No minimap / map - no deal. In soulslike games with a more slow, methodical approach to gameplay the lack of a map is okay; but with a fast paced action game like this the fast movement is way too disorientating without a map.
As a quick heads up : I think the game is great BUT as far as content goes it seems like the current build is reasonably short if you don't get sucked into crafting awesome items. Thanks for the added context!! Have a wonderful day, good sir!
Your videos are amazing mate, keep up the good work.
No worries. They're getting there.
Next time can you please show us the different weapon types and how they affect gameplay?
Not enough content isn't really a complaint. That's quite promising, especially if they go into early access. That sounds great.
Looking up at the sky and getting a prompt to teleport out.
That is sick.
I like it more than having to cast a spell, use a scroll, or other such item,
You can equip those red 'Corrupted' items you find in a run btw. The only downside is that you lose them if you die.
It has Dark Messiah vibes! *yes, I'm THAT old. I hope the devs release it on GOG.
I immediately thought of Dark Messiah as soo as I saw the first sword swing 😅
That game is absolutely deserving of a remake or sequel or some other way of getting picked up again.
I've been gaming since the 70's. I'm OLD. Dark Messiah ain't old :).
@@Steve-xh3by technically I'm a Sega Master System (Sonic The Hedgehog) Kid :)
The dev has said he was heavily inspired by Dark Messiah! iirc
I love how goofy the enemies move. When they are a decent way away it is like they are on twos and as they get close to you they become smooth
Fun fact: "Voin" means "I can"/"I could/was able to" in Finnish.
I guess the dev really could!
Fun fact 2: Voin means "warrior" in Bulgarian xD
@@nikolaytonchev6508in Russian it's the same

The Motocross Madness method

The weapon range seems much farther then you'd think it is.
I play with Darktide atm and the hits feels very very good there. It's looks like its good here too.
I really like the concept of this game. I would like to see more interesting enemies though. All the enemies pretty much look the same.

Some of those sword moves remind me a lot of Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, which I love.
love you bro!
Feel like a spiritual descendant of Hexen.
Looks interesting. Is there a way to turn off the "ocean wave" head bob?
This looks like it should be a VR title.
I love art style! Gonna wish list this game. Also Voin means a warrior in Russian, maybe a coincidence

Have a thumbs up for the Ink Blots reference.

In many ways reminiscent of Heretic and Hexen by Raven Software, if you ever played those, except melee rather than shooter style play.
